Undead Unluck is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka, which has been ongoing since January 20, 2020, and has now been collected in 18 volumes as of the time of writing. The story is a supernatural adventure filled with humor, so you can imagine the series will be filled with ridiculous powers and abilities. But, aside from these, the world of Undead Unluck is also filled with various intriguing characters and in this article, we are actually going to tell you about one such character. Sean Datz’s life as a criminal came to be after he failed to be an actor

The characters we’ve seen in Undead Unluck are interesting in more ways than one. Sure, most of them are ridiculous at the same time, but they are definitely intriguing. The latter part can generally be applied to members of Under, who always have some tragic backstories that explain why they are like they are. Sean Datz is a great example of this, as his story explains why he joined Under in the first place, and in this section, we are going to tell you all you need to know about that story.

Sean Datz was the son of an actor. But, while his father was famous to a certain degree, all he did in his life was play secondary roles. He never managed to land a main role, and Sean, seeing his father’s career, wanted to become better than him. He also wanted to become an actor, but he did not want to play supporting roles his whole life. When he was a kid, he auditioned for the main part in a school play, and although he ended up playing the tree, his father was still proud of him. Sean, on the other hand, wasn’t all that satisfied.

Later, when he was an adult, he auditioned for the main role in the sequel to Dead Gang, a movie his father had acted in, but when he auditioned, his power – Unseen – suddenly kicked in, and once he blinked, he disappeared. He shocked the producers and did not get the role, but he soon realized that there was no way for him to continue acting, as each time he blinked – he would disappear.

Soon after, he resorted to a life of crime, and after a while, he eventually joined Under. He played a major role in the Autumn Arc, where he and Rip wanted to kill Anno Un, while, at the same time, acting as enemies of Andy and Fuuko. But, while they failed in their mission, as Akira survived, Sean himself died during this arc. In the 101st Loop, he became a member of the Union and is now using his power to help the good guys.

Unseen is a very specific ability

As we have said above, Sean’s power is called Unseen, and as you might assume, it makes him invisible. But it’s not that simple. Namely, as the series confirmed, Unseen is a self-targeting compulsory-activation type of ability, which means that it can cause a lot of trouble for Sean. And it did, as it basically rendered him unable to be an actor.

Each time Sean blinks or closes his eyes, he disappears, along with all of his possessions at the time. Sure, this makes sense if you want to be a criminal, but if you want to be an actor, it is an issue. Initially, he had little control over it, but he trained more in the 101st Loop and he now has better control of his power.
