What Led to Wanda’s Dead Body Appearing in Westview in ‘Agatha All Along’?
Agatha All Along recently premiered its first two episodes, and the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Set three years after the events of WandaVision, the show follows Agatha as she is finally freed from Wanda’s spell.
Returning to real Westview, Agatha finds herself completely powerless, prompting her to assemble a makeshift coven of witches to walk the Witches’ Road and reclaim her abilities.
The show includes an intriguing detail teased in the trailers: at the start, when Agatha is still under Wanda’s spell, she plays the role of a detective investigating a dead body. This body is implied to belong to Wanda, also known as Scarlet Witch, who died during the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In the movie, Scarlet Witch uses her powers to destroy Mount Wundagore along with all copies of the Darkhold across the multiverse, effectively sacrificing herself in the process.
The injuries on the “body” in Agatha All Along align with the self-inflicted wounds Wanda would have sustained, suggesting that some awareness of Wanda’s death has leaked into Agatha’s prison.
However, it becomes clear that Wanda’s body is not actually in Westview; it’s a figment of Agatha’s imagination, as revealed at the end of the episode. Additionally, Agatha is unaware that Wanda’s fingertips have turned black from using the Darkhold, and her outfit is entirely different.
Wanda’s real body is likely buried under tons of rubble at Mount Wundagore, and logically, Agatha shouldn’t even be aware that Wanda is dead.
There are two potential explanations for Agatha’s sudden connection to Wanda and her seemingly impossible knowledge.
First, it’s possible that since Agatha was trapped by Wanda’s spell, that same spell allowed her to sense that the original spellcaster was dead, perhaps through illusions, coinciding with her release from imprisonment. However, this raises chronological issues, as Wanda’s death occurred years before Agatha was freed.
The second theory suggests that the Teen is hiding something. His portrayal of Wanda’s dead body could be a way to tease Agatha before freeing her from the spell. He might be aware of his origins and Agatha’s role in pushing Wanda further into darkness. It’s also plausible that the Teen allowed Agatha to escape so she could guide him down the Witches Road in an effort to help resurrect Wanda.
