Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest movie franchise of all time, whether you like it or not. To this day, the franchise has spawned 29 feature films, split into four Phases. The first three Phases made up the Infinity Saga, and Phase 4, which is still ongoing, started a new saga that still has no name, considering we still have no idea where the franchise is going next in terms of the next big villain and the next big crossover.
Shortly after Phase 3 concluded with Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios announced Phase 4 at San Diego Comic-Con, which led to the announcements of five movies and five TV shows. Additionally, more movies and TV shows were announced for Phase 4, which meant that Thor: Love and Thunder won’t be the last movie of Phase 4. With the release of Love and Thunder, Marvel released all the projects announced at SDCC 2019. but there are still more projects that were announced subsequently for Phase 4.
Kevin Feige recently announced that Phase 4 is nearing its end, and so far, the last movie that has the release date is The Marvels, which is set to be released in July 2023. Considering that movie is only a year away, it is expected that Marvel Studios will soon update its schedule with new movies. There are several movies that are known to be in development, but it wasn’t announced in will they be a part of Phase 4 or Phase 5.
Marvel boss Feige said that new projects and a new Phase will be announced “in the coming months”, which could mean that new projects could be announced at either San Diego Comic-Con this year on Disney+ Day next September. Judging from Feige’s words, although it wasn’t confirmed, there’s a solid chance that Phase 4 will end in 2023, with Phase 5 starting soon after.
Some of the movies that are known to be in development are Fantastic Four, Blade, Captain America 4, Deadpool 3, Shang-Chi 2, and Thunderbolts. It is expected that these movies will soon get official release dates, with the announcement of what Phase they will be a part of. Of course, there’s still a handful of TV series for Disney+ in development, and while we know that some of the upcoming series, like She-Hulk, will be a part of Phase 4, it’s not known which series will be the last series of this Phase since Marvel Studios is announcing release dates of TV series one at the time.
