Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir has its fair share of twisted villains, but the upcoming movie, Miraculous World: Paris, takes it to a whole new level. In the movie, Paris is attacked by evil Ladybug and Cat Noir versions. The new supervillains are so dangerous that not even Hawk Moth is safe from their insatiable desire for chaos, which is why fans want to know who Shadybug and Claw Noir in the Miraculous Paris movie are.
Shadybug and Claw Noir are the new supervillains in the Miraculous Ladybug series, coming from a parallel universe where everything is in reverse. In the parallel universe, the Miraculous Butterfly is the superhero, while Ladybug and Cat Noir are cunning supervillains known as Shadybug and Claw Noir. The supervillains’ alter egos are actually akumatized doppelgangers of Marinette and Adrien.
The idea of a parallel universe is fairly new to the Miraculous Ladybug franchise. The new supervillains being the doppelgangers of Paris’ superheroes makes them a more dangerous threat for Ladybug and Cat Noir. Sadly, this threat comes when both Marinette and Adrien are struggling with the weight of the responsibility of their powers. Miraculous World: Paris still has its fair share of positive surprises, including Hawk Moth as a superhero, so let’s consider what it is all about.
What happens in the ‘Miraculous World: Paris’ movie?
Miraculous World Paris: Tales of Shadybug & Claw Noir follows Ladybug and Cat Noir as they try to stop their evil doppelgangers from another universe. In the parallel universe, everything is in reverse because the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous turned Marinette and Adrien into supervillains, while the Butterfly Miraculous turned Gabriel into a superhero.
The saga starts in Shadybug and Claw Noir’s home universe when Marinette’s identity as Ladybug is revealed with the help of a genius called Marko. The identity allows Shadybug and Claw Noir to come straight after Marinette using a portal created by an akumatized Alya.
Shadybug and Claw Noir, therefore, invade Paris, seeking to steal Gabriel’s Butterfly Miraculous. They are likely planning to create an army of powerful supervillains in their universe, just like Hawk Moth tried in the past. Shadybug is clearly the most dangerous of the two supervillains, although Claw Noir is also very dangerous.
Both Shadybug and Claw Noir have different suits from the ones worn by Ladybug and Cat Noir. Shadybug’s suit is mostly black with red spots, which gives the appearance of an evil version of Ladybug, whose suit is mostly red with black spots.
Shadybug also has darker hair than Ladybug, tied in locks with red ribbons at the top. She also wears black heels, giving her a different walking style from Ladybug. Her whole appearance makes her look threatening, although she could still be confused with Ladybug.
Shadybug and Claw Noir’s alta egos are also Marinette and Adrien, so the people of Paris could easily confuse the supervillains for Ladybug and Cat Noir. Their attack on Paris causes much damage, including an explosion in Marinette’s room.
Worst of all, the invasion finds both Marinette and Adriene struggling mentally as the responsibility of their superpowers weighs heavily on them. Marinette is in the most danger since her identity was revealed in the parallel universe. Fortunately, Gabriel’s doppelganger from the parallel universe, who understands Shadybug and Claw Noir better, comes to their aid.
The trailer also shows Shadybug and Claw Noir invading Gabriel’s layer, most likely to steal his Butterfly miraculous. However, it is unclear whether Gabriel (Hawk Moth) works with Claw Noir and Shadybug now that they seem to have a common enemy.
Are Shadybug and Claw Noir evil?
Shadybug and Claw Noir are the villains in Miraculous World: Paris, but they could be working for another villain. The Synopsis of the movie’s sourcebook on Amazon points out that Ladybug and Cat Noir have to find a way to turn Shadybug and Claw Noir into good people.
Having come from a universe where everything is reversed, Shadybug and Claw Noir have only learned to hurt people, unlike Ladybug and Cat Noir. In their universe, Alya, Marinette, and Adrien didn’t turn into superheroes when they found their Miraculous.
However, Shadybug and Claw Noir are not beyond redemption. Rather than simply fighting to defeat the doppelgangers, Ladybug and Cat Noir also look to turn them into better people, something they tried with Hawk Moth in the past.
So, despite launching their reign of terror on Paris, Shadybug and Claw Noir could still end up as heroes. Gabriel isn’t the primary villain in Miraculous Paris either because Shadybug and Claw Noir have come for his Miraculous Butterfly.
Who is Hesperia in ‘Miraculous World: Paris’?
Hesperia owns the Butterfly Miraculous in the Parallel Universe, but unlike Hawk Moth, he is not a villain. He became a superhero after receiving the Miraculous Butterfly in his universe, becoming the opposite of Hawk Moth. In Miraculous Paris, he joins forces with Ladybug and Cat Noir to stop Shadybug and Claw Noir from stealing the Miraculous Butterfly.
Hesperia is also Gabriel Agreste’s doppelganger and Claw Noir’s father. However, It is unclear from the trailer whether he knows that his son Adrien is Claw Noir. Moreover, unlike Hawk Moth, Hesperia doesn’t have an army of superheroes to support him, so he relies on Ladybug and Cat Noir in our universe for help.
In the trailer, Hesperia saves Marinette, proving he is the opposite of Hawk Moth. However, he still looks much like Hawkmoth, wearing the same purple suit and mask.
