The storyline of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves may be close to home to many fans of D&D, but it isn’t exactly unique. Nevertheless, the characters added color to the storyline, especially when you look at Edgin’s ability to lead, entertain, and think of a way out of certain situations that require his expertise. So, let’s learn more about Edgin Darvis in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Edgin Darvis
One of the things that we know about the world of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is that it has always focused on different types of adventurers that have to go on a quest together. Of course, the same holds for the recently released Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie, which has steadily risen as one of the most entertaining movies of 2023. And like any D&D storyline, Honor Among Thieves follows a band of misfits that have to work together on a common goal.
But while we do know that some of the usual D&D fanatics tend to play with characters that have incredible skills and abilities, the thing about Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is that it follows a more comedic style that allows it to become approachable for those who never played a game of D&D their entire life. And it’s all thanks to how the party in question is composed of misfits that Edgin Darvis lead.

Edgin Darvis is the leader of the main questing party in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. He was first introduced as an incarcerated individual serving time in prison due to some sort of crime. However, during the hearing for his pardon, he told his past and how he became a criminal.
Played by Chris Pine, Edgin used to be an honorable member of a guild called the Harpers, composed of different people who worked as simple spies without asking for anything in return. It was a life that allowed him to get rid of the dangers of society by secretly working as a bard that fed information to different authorities to ensure peace within the realm.
However, after bringing down some of the members of the Red Wizards, he lost his wife when the same group of wizards decided to avenge their loss. And Edgin was left alone to raise his daughter, Kira, until he met Holga, who helped raise the baby due to how she felt pity for her.
Edgin and Holga lived together as best friends who treated each other as siblings. They raised Kira together but decided to become small-time thieves that stole from the rich without hurting anyone. And they could recruit Simon and Forge into their small band of thieves.
The group decided to take on a quest that was commissioned by the mysterious wizard named Sofina, who told Edgin that he could get a powerful relic that he could use to bring his wife back. In that regard, he decided to take on the quest, only for Sofina, secretly a Red Wizard, to betray them using a time-stopping spell. Before getting caught in the spell, Edgin told Forge to take care of Kira, as he and Holga were taken into custody by the authorities after they froze due to the spell’s effects.
What Happens to Edgin?
In prison, Edgin and Holga managed to escape by using Jonathan, one of the council members who determined whether to pardon someone, as their way out because he was an avian-like creature that could fly. However, they learned that Forge had become the new lord of Neverwinter and was the one who betrayed them in the quest that got them captured by the authorities. And the worst part was that Forge was unwilling to let go of Kira, who resented her father for two years after feeding on the lies that Forge himself spoon-fed.
Edgin and Holga decided to embark on a quest that involved stealing from Forge’s magical vault and getting back Kira. And they could recruit Simon, who helped them find a powerful shape-shifting druid in the form of Doric.
Together, the four of them decided to go on a quest to find an enchanted helmet that had the power to dispel all enchantments. With the help of the powerful paladin Xenk and a staff that could open portals, they could get their hands on this helm, which was supposedly powerful enough to open the vault in Forge’s palace. However, the only reason Xenk helped Edgin was for him to swear that he would give Forge’s wealth to the people, as this was his only way of honoring the Harper oath that he had turned his back on years ago.
While they did end up infiltrating Forge’s palace during a tournament that allowed different people to gather in the arena in Neverwinter, Edgin, and company were captured after he was fooled by Sofina, who used a spell that allowed her to take Kira’s form.

Edgin managed to convince Forge to allow them to enter the tournament as a way for him to execute them. While Forge initially thought this was a bad idea, Sofina urged him to do so as part of her nefarious scheme to take over the entire city. Edgin and the others, however, escaped the arena and cornered Forge, who was about to leave Neverwinter on a boat with Kira and the people’s riches.
They could stop Forge, who took Kira hostage, as Edgin convinced his daughter that she had been fed lies for years. But while they were on their way out of Neverwinter, they realized that Sofina was planning on using the entire city to create an army of undead soldiers. That was when Edgin decided that he and the others needed to return to the city to stop the evil Red Wizard from turning the people into mindless zombies.
Using the staff that opened portals, Edgin lured the people away from the arena by using Forge’s air balloon to rain treasures from the boat to the rest of the city, preventing Sofina from turning them into zombies. And while they struggled in their fight against the mighty wizard, Edgin, and the others tricked Sofina into dropping her guard so they could put a magic-negating bracelet on her.
While they defeated Sofina, Holga got stabbed by a Red Wizard blade and died from the effects of her wound. Because Edgin realized that Holga played the role of Kira’s mother the entire time, he decided to use the relic that would have allowed him to bring his wife back to save Holga from death. After that, Edgin and his allies were aptly rewarded as heroes of Neverwinter, as the quest allowed him to find a renewed motivation to be the father that Kira needed.
