Who Is the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Borderland Season 2?
We all know that season 2 of Alice In Borderland involved Arisu and the other players in their quest to defeat the Face card and finally find a way to get out of the Borderlands and return to their world. Of course, we all know that the Face cards were actually people that played their respective games against the players. The final one was the Queen of Hearts, who Arisu and Usagi faced at the end. So, who is the Queen of Hearts in Alice In Borderland?
The Queen of Hearts is Mira Kano, who we met as early as season 1 when she was a member of the Beach but was actually secretly a Face card, as revealed in the final scene of season 1. Her game is a simple Croquet game, but she drugged Arisu and tried to make him give up.
Technically speaking, the Queen of Hearts game was the easiest out of all of the games in the Borderlands, but Mira used Arisu’s hunger for the truth to her advantage. Of course, Mira was also the first Face card to be revealed in the series but only appeared as the final boss of the Borderlands. That said, let’s look at what we know about the Queen of Hearts in Alice In Borderland.
Who Is The Queen Of Hearts?
Alice In Borderland season 2 allowed us to see the players going up against the Face cards in an attempt to find out whether or not they could actually leave the Borderlands and return to the real world. Of course, we all know that the Face cards were only revealed at the end of season 1 when Arisu and the other players finally cleared all of the Number cards. And one of the Face cards that we met before the events of season 2 was the Queen of Hearts.
Despite the fact that she appeared as the “final boss” of the Borderlands, the Queen of Hearts was actually the first Face card that we met. This happened in the final portion of season 1 when Arisu and his friends learned more about the nature of the Borderlands after they had cleared all of the Number cards. When they saw that there were bets going on in a hidden part of the Borderlands, the Face cards finally revealed themselves. And the only Face card that appeared on the large screen was the Queen of Hearts.
Arisu and his friends were surprised to know that the Queen of Hearts was actually someone they were familiar with. We are talking about Mira Kano, who we met during the events of season 1. Back then, she was one of the executives that were working under the Hatter in the Beach. However, she seemed like an unassuming character that hardly did anything during her time as an executive.
But, just like Kuzuryu, who was actually the King of Diamonds the entire time, Mira was the Queen of Hearts and was actually on the Beach to learn more about the different players that were sent to the Borderlands to possibly face her and the entire Face cards. That was when she met Arisu, who was quite an intriguing character to her.
In fact, Mira had already been watching Arisu even before the Face cards were revealed. As the Queen of Hearts, she had complete control over all of the Number Hearts games, and that was when she designed the Seven of Hearts game to mess with Arisu and his friends, who died in that game. It was also the fact that she knew about Arisu and his love for his friends that allowed her to take advantage of him in the Queen of Hearts game.
What Is The Queen Of Hearts Game?
After Arisu and his friends were able to defeat the King of Spades, who proved to be the deadliest and toughest out of all of the Face cards, the Queen of Hearts was finally revealed as Mira was the final boss that Arisu and Usagi needed to defeat to give everyone in the Borderlands hope of returning to the real world.
Arisu and Usagi made their way to the top of a building, which was actually a garden where Mira was waiting. Mira had a friendly and welcoming approach to the duo as she introduced the mechanics of the Queen of Hearts game. The rules of the game were simple because it was just a regular Croquet game.
There are no other rules introduced in this game of Croquet. In fact, it was played the same way as any other Croquet game was to be played. All that Arisu and Usagi needed to do was to play through three sets of Croquet gams. It didn’t even matter who won the sets because all that the players needed to do was to play through the sets regardless of who was going to win them.
But the twist here was that a player that wanted to retire from the game would lose, and that meant that they were going to die. And this was something that Mira used to her advantage during the game, as she used underhanded tricks to try to defeat Arisu.
During the entire Croquet game, Arisu’s emotional and mental states were already messed up because he had already lost a lot of people at that time and was only looking to find a way to get out of the Borderlands. His main goal was to know whether or not they had a chance to get out of that world if they defeated all of the Face cards. And Mira used that to her advantage as well because she knew that Arisu wanted to question her.
After the first two sets, Mira invited Arisu and Usagi to take a short tea break. That was when Arisu started questioning Mira about the true nature of the Borderlands and whether or not they could exit this world to return to the real one. Mira started telling Arisu and Usagi different versions of the truth while lying about what the Borderlands truly are. But she was probably stalling because she was waiting for the hallucinant in the tea to work.
When the hallucinant started working, Mira tricked Arisu into thinking that the Borderlands were not real and that he was a mental patient that she was working with. Arisu actually believed her due to the effects of the drug, and that was why he thought that everything happening in the Borderlands was merely imagined by him. Mira’s goal was to convince Arisu to retire so that she would win the game.
However, thanks to Usagi’s sacrifice and touching gesture, Arisu snapped back to what was actually happening, as Mira was moved by the love shared between the two. That was when she genuinely prompted the two to continue playing without any tricks. Mira won the Croquet game, but Arisu and Usagi had completed the conditions of the Queen of Hearts game, which was to play through three sets.
As a result, Arisu and Usagi defeated the Queen of Hearts, which meant that all of the Face cards were now defeated. The defeat of all of the Face cards allowed the survivors of the Borderlands to choose whether to stay or to leave. Of course, Arisu and his friends decided to return to the real world.
