The third season of Tokyo Revengers is finally here, and the first episode started off strongly with a very scary and intriguing revelation. Namely, at the end of the episode, it has been revealed to Takemichi – by Kakucho – that there is a traitor in the Tokyo Manji Gang and that he should be wary of his surroundings. What a cliffhanger, right? While you probably know that the series will address this issue later in the series, we have decided to write up this article for all those who cannot wait; in it, you will find out who the traitor in Tokyo Revengers is. Beware, though, as the article is going to have numerous spoilers.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • The first episode of the third season of Tokyo Revengers revealed that there was a traitor within the Tokyo Manji Gang, which came as a shock but explained a lot of recent events in the series.
  • Because the Tenjiku gang is the principal antagonist in this arc (and season), the traitor is working for them and feeding them intel on Tokyo Manji.
  • The series will reveal that the traitor is a character with ties to Tenjiku that go way back to his past and that he was never truly loyal to Tokyo Manji.

The traitor is none other than – Yasuhiro Muto

“The Longest Day” is the title of the first episode of the third season of Tokyo Revengers, which premiered on October 3, 2023, and whose ending revealed that there was a traitor in the group. Namely, after a face-off with Takemichi, Kakucho, who is now his enemy, reveals that they should be careful, as there is a traitor among them.

This revelation came off as a shock to all anime fans; okay, to be fair, those who have already read the manga know the whole story, so this was not a big reveal for them, but this article is for the anime fans, who are certainly in for a treat sooner rather than later. Namely, after the surprise attack by the Tenjiku gang, it became apparent that something was not as it should be, and Kakucho soon confirmed that there was, indeed, a traitor in the gang who was feeding intel to the Tenjiku gang.

That, of course, seemed strange for two reasons. First, the Tokyo Manji Gang was a closely-knit group, and it did not seem likely that there would be a traitor among them, especially someone who would betray them in such a brutal fashion. Secondly, the Tenjiku gang was a relatively new gang, and while it made sense that the plot focus would now shift to them, it was still a shock that they would have been able to infiltrate the group in such a manner.

So, how did a traitor even appear, then? Well, the only logical explanation – since there are no new major characters that would be suspicious – is that someone has been a member of the gang for a while, and if you thought that, you are correct. So, who is it?

Well, to cut to the chase, the series will reveal that soon anyhow, the traitor is Yasuhiro Muto! He is not a major character, and we agree that someone more important being the traitor would probably have been more impactful, but still, it came as a surprise, mostly because it did not make sense for him to be the traitor. But, if you know his story, which we intend to present to you in the next section, you will see that it makes a lot of sense.

Muto’s past actually reveals why he betrayed the Tokyo Manji Gang – and it makes complete sense!

Sometimes, to know someone well, you really do need to know about their past, and in the case of Yasuhiro Muto, this concept has proven more than correct. We have now established that Yasuhiro Muto is the traitor who is secretly feeding intel about the Tokyo Manji Gang to Tenjiku. As far as Tenjiku is concerned, we know that we are dealing with a gang that members of the S-62 Generation have established; Tetta Kisaki was the initiator of the idea, but the gang is led by the charismatic Izana Kurokawa, who is also going to be the main villain in this arc.

So, how does Muto actually fit in there? We know that Yasuhiro Muto is actually a member of the S-62 Generation, which means that he was close with all the members of Tenjiku. Now, knowing how gangs and groups work in Tokyo Revengers, you can assume that the members of the S-62 Generation were also very close and loyal to each other, which makes complete sense.

But, with time, they were scattered, and Yasuhiro Muto was actually released before his other companions. Now free, he went to find another gand to join, and he joined the Tokyo Manji Gang, but he never really stopped being loyal to S-62. So, later, when Izana was released, and then Tenjiku was established, Yasuhiro Muto immediately wanted to quit the Tokyo Manji Gang and rejoin his companions in Tenjiku, but the gang came up with a better solution – he should remain with Tokyo Manji and spy on them, feeding Tenjiku intel with which they could eliminate the Tokyo Manji Gang from the scene.

And once you know all these facts, it makes a lot of sense that Yasuhiro Muto is the traitor, so this part was executed well from a narrative standpoint. We won’t be spoiling what happens later when Yasuhiro Muto is revealed as the traitor, so don’t worry, but you now know what to expect.
