Mahito is a major villain in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime. An important member of Pseudo-Geto’s team of villains, Mahito caused trouble for the Jujutsu Sorcerers and is infamously known for causing the death of Nanami, which is why many fans hate him. Mahito is a humanoid cursed spirit with a very special technique that allows him to permanently modify someone’s soul just by touching that person. This is why he is so dangerous in the series and why he is so difficult to defeat. And while he is immune to most types of attacks and techniques, Nobara and Yuji were able to hurt him. How? Keep reading to find out!

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Due to his specific body structure and abilities, Mahito is extremely difficult to kill. He is basically immune to all types of physical attacks, and he cannot be killed in such a way.
  • His soul is his weak spot, but even the soul itself is very durable and difficult to wound, which is why only the most powerful, soul-crushing attacks can hurt him, such as the Black Flash.
  • Nobara and Yuji were able to hurt Mahito initially because their attacks targeted his soul, but Mahito was able to develop an even stronger defensive technique.

Yuji and Nobara managed to pierce Mahito’s soul with their attacks

So, we’re back in Shibuya… okay, we never left Shibuya, as the Shibuya Incident Arc is currently being adapted into the globally popular Jujutsu Kaisen anime series, and for weeks now, we have been chronicling the events from the series and answering your burning questions about various things that appeared in the anime, or those that are related to them.

In the recent episodes, Yuji and Nobara are fighting Mahito, who had just killed Nanami. We know that Mahito is notoriously difficult to kill, yet Yuji and Nobara, both of them weaker than Nanami, were able to injure Mahito. How? Well, keep reading to find out.

As fans of the series will probably know, Mahito is notoriously difficult to kill. He has a very specific structure, and his soul is constructed in a very special way, rendering physical attacks against him completely useless, as he can regenerate instantly. This is why he is notoriously difficult to kill. The only known way that one can harm Mahito is by targeting his soul directly. Still, even that won’t always work, as he has a very resilient and powerful soul that only the strongest (e.g. Sukuna, Gojo, …) can harm directly.

But, while it is difficult to kill him, he can be injured if you manage to hit his soul. And this is what Yuji and Nobara did in Shibuya and why they successfully injured Mahito during their fight. Yuji’s cursed energy-imbued attacks hit Mahito’s soul directly, which caused the cursed spirit a great deal of pain.

On the other hand, Nobara’s nail technique was also able to penetrate deep within Mahito’s soul, which is how the two of them were ultimately able to harm the powerful cursed spirit. But this was not it – it would have been too easy for Mahito to be defeated just like that.

Namely, during the fight against Nobara, Yuji, and later Aoi, Mahito was able to activate his Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing technique, showing his true form and turning himself into a proper monster. Although he was severely weakened, in this state, he finally felt that he was unable to feel any of Yuji’s punches, which means that the Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing strengthens his soul additionally. But it doesn’t really make him invulnerable.

Namely, as Yuji realized soon enough, powerful techniques like the Black Flash can penetrate his soul even in the Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing state, which means that even this powerful technique has a weakness. But that is generally the gist of it.

Mahito is notoriously difficult to kill, although he is not invincible. To hurt him, one has to be able to pierce and attack his soul directly, which is difficult if you’re not skilled and powerful. But, even such attacks won’t always work, as Mahito’s soul must be attacked by an extremely powerful and destructive technique such as the Black Flash, one of the most powerful techniques out there. And that is the story of how one can defeat and harm Mahito.
