Goblin Slayer: How Did Wizard Die? Why Is Her Death so Horrible?
GOBLIN SLAYER! is a dark fantasy and adventure light novel series that focuses on a young and inexperienced Priestess who wants to become an adventurer but lands in trouble as goblins wipe out her first party; she is saved by the mysterious Goblin Slayer, a brutal murderer of goblins, whom she then joins as they adventure together. The characters of GOBLIN SLAYER! are quite intriguing. In this article, we will discuss one particular character, as you will find out who Wizard is and what happened to her. The title reveals that she did die in the series, but this article will elaborate on why her death is so horrible and impactful.
Wizard’s death made her a very important secondary character with an impactful legacy
Wizard is, first and foremost, in case you were wondering, a female. She is the older sister of Wizard Boy, a character we have already written about here on Fiction Horizon, and she was a very skilled mage in the series. From an early age, she had a talent for magic, so it makes sense that she entered the Academy in the Capital.
There, she graduated at the top of her class and became a powerful mage. Soon, she left her family in order to pursue a career as an adventurer, which was an important moment not just for her but also for Wizard Boy. Soon after beginning her new career, she formed a party with Warrior and Fighter, and the three of them would later invite Priestess to join them as Warrior decided to tackle a goblin’s den despite the warnings from Guild Girl, who told them that they don’t have enough experience and that they should take on a lighter quest.
Warrior rejected this and went into the den head-on, without any countermeasures and without any preparations. Priestess stressed it out, but Warrior not only ignored her concerns, he became annoyed with her and it gave him even more false courage, which proved to be a fatal mistake on his side. So, what happened?
Wizard’s death was quite brutal
Well, as we’ve said, Warrior was quite convinced that he could take on the slick goblins all by himself, but this proved to be a mistake. Namely, the goblins soon ambushed the whole party, and Warrior lost his composure, which allowed the Goblins to overpower him at one point, as they knew the den better than him, and there were more of them. As he was unable to fight after a certain moment, they jumped on him and hacked his body, leaving no traces of him whatsoever. This is how his life ended, but this was not the end of it.
Namely, the goblins also attacked the three girls; the Priestess was protected by Fighter, but the goblins soon overpowered Wizard, and she was in a very nasty situation. The goblins managed to pin her down and then stab her with a poisonous dagger, after which they proceeded to torture her brutally. We won’t be providing you with the details, as they are not necessary and are overly gory, but you have to know that when Goblin Slayer arrived, Wizard was in such a state that she begged him to kill her.
Before that happened, Priestess, who was saved thanks to Fighter’s efforts (Fighter would also survive, but she was deeply traumatized and stopped being an adventurer after this), tried to heal Wizard, but her spells had no effect, which confused her. Goblin Slayer soon explained to her, before defeating the goblins, that she had been poisoned and that nothing – not even an antidote – would help her at that point. Goblin Slayer then fulfilled Wizard’s final wish and killed her so she would not suffer.
