Solo Leveling: Are Sung Jinwoo & Cha Hae-In a Couple? Relationship Explained!
Solo Leveling is a South Korean novel series that has recently seen an anime adaptation. Arguably the most popular manhwa in the world, Solo Leveling is sure to attract a lot of attention, especially because the anime adaptation is truly great. Unlike our previous articles, this article is going to be dedicated to the relationship between two major characters in the series. Both of them are protagonists – Sung Jinwoo, the male one, and Cha Hae-In, the female one – and in this article, we are going to tell you whether they are a couple in the series, i.e., what the true nature of their relationship is.
Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In are the series’ most famous couple
Sung Jinwoo is the protagonist of the story and is initially known by everyone as the weakest hunter in the system, as opposed to that of the strongest hunter, Jong-in Choi. Before becoming a Player of the System, Jinwoo was a frail, kind, shy, and awkward boy who fought every day inside the low-level portals to be able to earn enough to support his sister and cover the hospital expenses of his sick mother. Although the Gates he explored were among the easiest, he repeatedly kept injuring himself and putting his life in danger, which mainly contributed to his reputation as the “weakest.”
Following the Double Dungeon incident and his subsequent “awakening in “Double Awakening”, Jinwoo acquires the ability to increase his abilities by killing monsters inside portals and carrying out particular missions assigned to him by the System. Thanks to these rewards, he improves his stats by becoming taller and more robust and acquiring more and more confidence in himself and his means. Even though he seems to lose some of his emotions every time he grows stronger, Jinwoo remains kind and caring towards those closest to him.
On the other hand, Cha is the only woman among the South Korean S-ranks and a formidable swordsman. In the initial part of the story, she is the Vice-President of the Hunters Guild, and she particularly despises all Hunters except the protagonist. She is an exceptionally skilled and powerful character.
However, she is a very respectable hunter, capable of beating Igris and holding her own up to a certain point against Ber, two of Jinwoo’s strongest shadows. Already skilled with the sword, she can create earthquakes with her magic and imbue swords with light magic. She is Song Chi-Yul’s student in fencing, and due to her grace and skill, she is called “The Dancer,” although only a few know this adjective, as she is embarrassed by it.
Her relationship with Sung Jinwoo had a specific development, since the two of them did not know each other from the start. It wasn’t until Sung Jinwoo became an S-Rank Hunter that the two of them officially met and became closer, and as we’ve said, he was the only S-Rank Hunter whom she did not despise openly. Over time she develops feelings for Jinwoo, becoming embarrassed when she is in his company. Her feelings are such that she even goes so far as to ask the young man to join her guild, even trying to abandon the Hunters.
Jinwoo invites her on a date at a theme park built on the site where the Gate appeared, where his father disappeared, and they spend the whole day together, to the girl’s great joy. Jinwoo dedicates one of his last thoughts to her before dying. She is on the front line together with Jinwoo during the Seoul Dungeon Break, following the destruction brought by the remaining Monarchs; she has a last telephone conversation with the Hunter, with whom she makes a promise that they will meet again once it is all over.
Ultimately, the romance between the two of them developed as one would expect. They became a couple and eventually even married, having a child together, their story turned out to be a very happy one.
