DC’s ‘Supergirl’ Just Unveiled the Most Unhinged Popcorn Bucket of the Summer
DC’s ‘Supergirl’ is shaping up to be one of the most heavily anticipated superhero films of the year, and its marketing is matching that energy at every turn. The film marks the DCU‘s second theatrical chapter and stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, a role she first previewed in a brief scene at the close of 2025’s ‘Superman’. With a release date locked in and promotional buzz growing louder by the week, every new piece of ‘Supergirl‘ news is landing with considerable force.
Few casting additions have stirred as much excitement as Jason Momoa stepping into the role of Lobo, the galactic bounty hunter who tears through the cosmos on his intergalactic motorcycle. As the last surviving member of the near-immortal Czarnian race, Lobo possesses superhuman strength, rapid healing abilities, and a mercenary lifestyle that keeps him perpetually at odds with everyone around him. Momoa had long campaigned for the role, having originally hoped to play the character when he first joined DC, before being offered Aquaman instead.
Now a closer look at one of the film’s most eye-catching pieces of promotional merchandise has arrived. Snapco’s Lobo Bike Popcorn Bucket features the character mounted on his intergalactic motorcycle, complete with a flickering flame light effect, and is confirmed to land at AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and additional theater chains. The bucket is already generating significant chatter online, with fans drawn to a design that leans fully into Lobo’s chaotic, heavy-metal personality rather than softening his edge for general audiences.
The bucket forms part of a sweeping global merchandise collection announced by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, spanning collectibles, apparel, toys, and home goods across a wide range of premier licensees. McFarlane Toys and Funko are contributing figure assortments featuring Supergirl, Lobo, and villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, while Mattel’s Barbie Signature DC Supergirl Doll reimagines Kara’s look from the film, complete with her iconic red-and-blue suit, signature cape, and gold belt.
The story follows Supergirl as she teams up with the young Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Eve Ridley, on a desperate mission after villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, portrayed by Matthias Schoenaerts, poisons Krypto with a dart. Lobo, who was cut from the original graphic novel late in its development, has since been confirmed as not merely a presence in the film but a character vital to how the story ultimately unfolds.
Director Craig Gillespie’s film opens in theaters and IMAX nationwide on June 26, 2026, with an international release beginning two days earlier on June 24. With a villain-fronted popcorn bucket already igniting conversation weeks before tickets go on sale, the campaign around ‘Supergirl’ is clearly betting big on Lobo’s anarchic appeal, and the early fan response suggests that bet is paying off.
Whether you are already sold on grabbing the Lobo bucket on opening night or think Kara deserves her own centerpiece collectible, drop your take in the comments.
