10 Best Muichiro Tokito Qutes from ‘Demon Slayer’ Anime & Manga

When discussing Demon Slayer, one usually talks about the demon slayers themselves or the demons. And while the series has offered us a variety of other intriguing characters, we will talk about one specific Demon Slayer – Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira – in this article. Muichiro Tokito is an exceptionally intriguing character and has one of the best stories in the whole series, without a doubt. And he definitely deserves an article of his own.
This list will include a total of the best 10 Muichiro Tokito quotes you need to know from the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime and manga. The quotes are taken from various contexts and situations, and we have decided to list them here for you and also explain the context and the meaning a bit.
1. “As for the reason I was born, I know that full well. I was born to be happy. […] I was happy when we lived as a family. When I was alone, there were many hard and painful things, but then… I made friends, and there were good times, so I was able to smile again. There were countless moments when I thought I was happy. Was that not enough? I didn’t turn my eyes away or run from anything. I don’t regret risking my life for my comrades.”
Muichiro Tokito has one of the best and saddest stories in the series, and we have to state that his childhood was truly tragic. Now, we know that most Demon Slayers have such a sad story behind them, but knowing Muichiro, his one becomes even sadder, as he is such a special and specific character in that aspect.
This quote illustrates how much he cherished these happy memories and what lessons he learned from them, as they truly changed him and helped him evolve in that aspect. That is also why we opened with this quote.
2. “Even the strongest attacks are pointless if they don’t hit.”
Muichiro’s battle with Gyokko was a truly special fight. Gyokko was a very powerful and weird opponent, and Muichiro Tokito was on the verge of death, almost drowned and poisoned during that fight. On top of that, Gyokko was quite mad at him because of his comments, so he wanted to have his revenge against the Mist Hashira.
But, as Muichiro said, a strong attack is useless if it cannot hit its target, and Muichiro used all of his skills and abilities to prove to Gyokko that he was superior to him, being able to win this complex fight in the end.
3. “Have you been trained to withstand torture? Even most adults can’t endure it, so it’s impossible that you could. You appear to be an exceedingly dumb brat. So what if it does break? Why not make it again? While you’re rattling on and on and on and on with your nonsense, do you know how many people will die? That’s what it means to interfere with a Hashira. Your time and Hashira’s time have completely different value. If you used your head just a little, you would understand. […] So come on, the key! Know your place in life and act accordingly. Because you aren’t a baby.”
Before he regained his memories, Muichiro was different. He wasn’t evil or bad, but he was quite practical and thought that emotions were unnecessary in his line of work. This explains why he talked to young Kotetsu like this, although he would later go on to risk his own life to save the boy.
The two of them had a very interesting dynamic, and while it all started off like this, they eventually became friends, with both of them risking their lives to protect and save the other. But, Muichiro’s change of attitude came a bit later, though, after he remembered his past, finally.
4. “Remember that boiling anger. […] Even if I lose my memories, my body will remember that anger that will not leave me until I die. It’s why I trained so hard that I vomited blood to destroy demons. And more… to eradicate them!”
This quote actually illustrates just how determined Muichiro was to defeat his opponents. He hated Demons; that much was obvious, but he wanted to defeat them to rid the world of their presence, and even if he lost everything else, he was willing to go on fighting demons because of the anger he felt when one killed his brother would always remain inside him.
5. “Just like master said if you recover your confidence… you can dig in with both feet and use your full strength. If you know who you are, then no demon can run when you bring down a blade that knows no hesitation or confusion.”
Remembering his past helped Muichiro a lot, and he actually remembered how Kagaya motivated him and made him a better person. This quote was Muichiro talking to himself and motivating himself to become better by repeating Ubuyashiki’s words.
Muichiro needed to be at his best to defeat Gyokko, and since he was in a real pickle at the time, he needed to be the very best. This is how and why he managed to motivate himself to be better.
6. “No one can help me, they’re all weaker than me, I should have done better, but I made a mistake, I overestimated my strength, unconsciously, because I’m a Hashira, I made too many mistakes, and now I’m going to die.”
As we’ve said, Gyokko’s fight with Muichiro was an epic one, and it nearly cost the Mist Hashira his life. Since Muichiro was, at that moment, already on the brink of remembering everything, he felt responsibility as a Hashira, and he knew he had to do better.
Thanks to young Kotetsu, he could escape Gyokko’s Water Prison Pot and ultimately win, but this exact quote shows how much Muichiro had changed as time passed and how much layered he was. He had become a better person in a very short time, and it was great to observe that.
7. “Your time and a Hashira’s time have completely different value. If you used your head just a little, you would understand.”
This is yet another example of Muichiro’s wisdom and his valuing his position as a Hashira. Muichiro knew what it meant to be a Hashira and was both extremely loyal and powerful. He knew what he had to do and what his duties were, and that fact alone made him one of the best Hashira in the Corps. This is why Tokito was such a great character and always had something to offer in that aspect.
8. Muichiro’s comments about the other Hashira
- “She looks like a swallow bird. She has a gentle smile.” – Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira
- “He’s like a monkey. Once in a while, he crumples my head.” – Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira
- “He’s like a wildcat. He’s a quiet person. He has beautiful eyes as well. I was surprised at first given that his left and right eye color is different.” – Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira
- “He’s like a bear. He’s the strongest person.” – Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira
- “He’s like a decorative object.” – Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira
- “He’s like an owl. He’s a lively person with a pleasant voice.” – Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira
- “She’s like a pink-colored chick going cheep cheep. Her hair is beautiful.” – Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira
- “He’s like a wolf.” – Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira
This is a new one. Namely, these comments that Muichiro made about his fellow Hashira are so cute and hilarious that we decided to include them as one big, collective quote. They show the dynamics between the Hashira and that even they were actually just regular people, like everyone else. They had their good sides and their bad sides, and ultimately, that is what made them so special. Not their powers but their humanity.
9. “If you know who you are then no demon can run when you bring down a blade that knows no hesitation or confusion.”
This was a fairly wise remark by Muichiro, really. It shows that he has learned a lot over the years and that he was able to pass down his wisdom to others in that aspect. This was a very good comment and a very good piece of advice that can be applied to all fields, not just demon slaying as a discipline. Yet another pearl from Lord Tokito.
10. “Your legs and feet are moving in perfect coordination. You can go to the next Hashira, Tanjiro.”
Finally, a fully recovered Muichito participated in the Hashira Training, and we see him motivating Tanjiro in the scene this quote was taken from. This was a lovely quote, and we think that it is a nice way to end things, as it is light in nature and presents a good way of moving on.
