Muichiro Tokito vs. Tengen Uzui: Who Is Stronger & Who Wins in a Fight?

Muichiro Tokito vs. Tengen Uzui: Who Is Stronger & Who Wins in a Fight?

Comparing Demon Slayer characters is exceptionally fun, as witnessed by the number of articles we have here on Fiction Horizon. Now, we’ve mostly compared Demons and Demon Slayers, but in this article, we are going to compare two Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. One of them is Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, while the other one is Tengen Uzui, the flamboyant Sound Hashira. In this article, you will find out which of the two would win in a direct clash in Demon Slayer, as you will get a detailed comparison of the two and their powers and abilities.

Muichiro is more powerful than Tengen and would win in a fight against him. Tengen’s primary skill is his speed, and we have seen that Muichiro is able to counter fast opponents, which is why we think that Muichiro wins this duel. Muichiro might seem weak, but he is actually one of the strongest and most skilled Hashira in the series, and it is quite obvious that his Mist Breathing could, relatively easily, counter Tengen’s Sound Breathing, which is why we think that Muichiro Tokito would be able to defeat Tengen Uzui in a direct clash.

Now that you have the short version of the answer, the rest of the article will be divided into several categories, as we will talk about these two characters and reveal which of them is stronger using the usual category-by-category system that we’ve applied in numerous articles before. In the end, we will give our final verdict and explain why we think that Muichiro Tokito would be able to defeat Tengen Uzui in a direct fight.

Physical powers and fighting skills

Muichiro has demonstrated physical strength that is a notch above that of the normal Demon Slayer, despite having one of the smallest frames and appearing to be the weakest among the Demon Slayers and Hashira. It is clear that despite Tanjiro’s best efforts to force Hashira’s hand to move in order to stop him from striking Kotetsu, the hand didn’t even flinch.

Later, with no effort, he elbowed Tanjiro in the stomach, causing him to spit out saliva, and punched Tanjiro once in the neck, knocking him out. He could easily sever Gyokko’s neck with the sword after piercing Yoriichi’s Type Zero armor, which he compared to a diamond’s durability.

Tengen Uzui is one of the strongest Hashira in the series. He has shown that he possesses incredible physical strength; in that aspect, he is among the most powerful Hashira in the series; in terms of pure physical strength, only Gyomei Himejima may outclass him. He demonstrated how powerful he was during his fight against Daki and Gyutaro.

In terms of raw physical strength, Tengen Uzui clearly surpasses Muichiro Tokito as he is one of the strongest Hashira, which is obvious when you simply look at the two of them. This is why this point goes to Tengen.

Speed

Muichiro was exceptionally swift for a Hashira, demonstrating the ability to bombard demons and move at teleportation-like rates. He easily outran Tanjiro Kamado’s reactions in terms of quickness. Muichiro’s exceptional speed and reflexes were noticeably enhanced when he faced Gyokko.

He could dispatch 10,000 ridiculous slime fish in a single motion, sending them all flying before their blood even reached him. He was also able to compete with Gyokko, who had the ability to teleport, and eventually beheaded the demon before it could react. Additionally, Muichiro showed incredible control over the speed of his own motions.

Demon Slayer's Sound Hashira: Tengen Uzui Explained

Out of all the Hashira, Tengen Uzui is undoubtedly the fastest, which the author himself also confirmed. Just looking at his fight against Daki and Gyutaro shows that Tengen had incredible speed and reflexes. Being the Sound Hashira, this actually makes complete sense since sound is known to travel at great speeds. And although Tengen’s speed and reflexes are quite raw in their manifestation, he has excellent control over them, which actually makes him even more dangerous in that aspect.

Being the fastest among the Hashira, there is no doubt that Tengen Uzui is also faster than Muichiro Tokito, which is why he wins this point (although the author himself noted that Muichiro could be faster than he lets on).

Points: Muichito Tokito 0, Tengen Uzui 2

Durability

Muichiro has repeatedly demonstrated his extraordinary endurance. Muichiro, who had the strength to keep up with Gyokko, was completely unaffected by the poisoning and hardly even flinched. His battle with Kokushibo, however, finest highlighted his amazing pain tolerance.

The demon swordsman scarcely showed any pain as the blade pierced Muichiro’s shoulder; instead, he just continued his attack after cutting off the demon swordsman’s arm. He sustained severe damage. The most amazing thing was that after having had his entire torso severed, he still retained his katana firmly in his palm.

And while his forte is undoubtedly his speed, Tengen was also known for his immense stamina and durability. He had excellent skills in this aspect, as we’ve seen in his battle against Daki and Gyutaro, where he was able to continue fighting despite being heavily injured, losing an arm, and being heavily poisoned by the Upper-Rank Six. He was on the brink of death, but he managed to survive the fight and healed himself properly later, which is undoubtedly a sign of his immense skills in this category.

And while Tengen’s durability is amazing, primarily due to his shinobi upbringing, he did lose an arm and almost died while fighting one-half of the Upper-Rank Six with Tanjiro’s help, whereas Muichiro survived a one-on-one fight against Gyokko, the Upper-Rank Five, despite being heavily poisoned, and managed to decapitate the powerful Demon. So, Muichiro wins this one.

Breathing Style

Muichiro’s Breathing Style is Mist Breathing, a style he learned from a cultivator. He is exceptionally proficient in using this Style, so proficient, in fact, that he was able to create a wholly original move that proved pivotal in defeating Gyokko, the Upper-Rank Five. His known forms include:

First Form: Low Clouds, Distant HazeConsists of a powerful thrust attack.
Second Form: Eight-Layered MistConsists of unleashing eight powerful slashes in quick succession.
Third Form: Scattering Mist SplashConsists of a powerful circular slash.
Fourth Form: Shifting Flow SlashConsists of a quick dash at the opponent, followed by a slash from underneath them.
Fifth Form: Sea of Clouds and HazeConsists of a series of slashes that are so powerful and so fast that they obscure the enemy’s sight.
Sixth Form: Lunar Dispersing MistConsists of a large number of seemingly countless quick slashes that can destroy multiple targets at once.
Seventh Form: Obscuring CloudsConsists of Muichiro creating a mist-like illusion that obscures his movements and confuses his enemy.

Tengen’s unique Breathing Style is Sound Breathing, a style he himself was able to create. He fights by “scoring,” which entails interpreting his opponents’ movements and translating them into sound by observing the pattern of their movements, using his improved hearing. Only three forms have been revealed:

First Form: RoarConsists of a powerful attack from above using both cleavers at the same time.
Fourth Form: Constant Resounding SlashesConsists of a powerful spinning attack with both swords individually that has enormous destructive force.
Fifth Form: String PerformanceConsists of Tengen holding the chain of his cleavers and launching a powerful attack.

There is no doubt that Muichiro’s Mist Breathing is the more powerful Breathing Style, and that is why Muichiro wins this final point.

They are, more or less, evenly matched, but Muichiro showed us more than Tengen

And while the points suggest that they are roughly on the same level due to the fact that Muichiro managed to defeat the Upper-Rank Five single-handedly, whereas Tengen almost died while fighting one-half of the Upper Rank Six with Tanjiro’s help, we think that Muichiro is stronger.
