Chris Evans Has Put an End to Our Hopes of Seeing Him Return as Captain America in the MCU

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the latest release from the MCU, and as many of you might have guessed without even seeing the film, it resurrects Wolverine despite his perfect ending in ‘Logan.’
The MCU brings Wolverine back not as a continuation of his ‘Logan’ character but through a variant, a concept frequently linked with the Multiverse. The Wolverine featured in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is not the same character from ‘Logan.’
We recently discovered that Kevin Feige was initially opposed to Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine and to Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Iron Man. However, in a recent interview, Feige indicated that he is open to the return of Iron Man and Captain America, provided the characters are handled with “great care” and given a well-crafted storyline for their return.
With rumors circulating about a TV show centered on Chris Evans’ Captain America returning the Infinity Stones to their proper places in time, it seemed almost certain that Evans would reprise his role in the MCU, rather than returning as the Human Torch.
However, Evans has recently clarified to Entertainment Weekly that he is not considering a return as Captain America.
No. No, not really.
He did, however, give his full support to Sam Wilson’s Captain America, who will be featured in the upcoming film ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ which is already generating its own share of controversy.
I keep in touch with all those guys. We text all the time. I can’t wait to see that movie.
It’s understandable that Evans doesn’t want to overshadow Mackie’s Captain America, especially considering the mixed reception his own version received from audiences and the vocal minority who resist seeing him as Cap in the MCU.
Even if Evans never returns to the MCU in a major role, we can always cherish his memorable cameo in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
