Demon Slayer: Does Mitsuri Like Tanjiro & Vice Versa?

The term “ship” in terms of anime is actually a shortened version of the word “relationship” and represents fan-based relationships between the characters in the series. So, if you think that two characters would be great as a couple, you’re “shipping” them together. As far as Demon Slayer is concerned, it is only natural that Tanjiro Kamado is often featured in shipping discussions, as he is the protagonist of the series, and people always have various theories about the protagonist of a series. In this article, we are going to ship Tanjiro with Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, as we are going to reveal whether Mitsuri likes Tanjiro and vice versa and whether there is any chance of this ship actually being true.

Mitsuri Kanroji never romantically liked Tanjiro. She was older than him, he wasn’t her type (she had a very specific type, and Tanjiro was definitely not it), and she actually liked Obanai Iguro, whereas Tanjiro liked Kanao. Mitsuri has a flirtatious personality, but she is like that with everyone, symbolically representing her Breathing Style. So no, Mitsuri and Tanjiro never liked each other romantically, although they were good friends and allies.

The rest of this article will explore the nature of the relationship between Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, and Tanjirō Kamado, the show’s protagonist. We will explore Mitsuri’s and Tanjirō’s personalities in more detail, as well as the nature of their relationship in the world of Demon Slayer. This article won’t contain too many spoilers, but still, be careful how you approach it if you don’t know the whole story.

Mitsuri and Tanjiro were close friends, but they were not in love with each other at any point in the story

Tanjiro and Mitsuri first met when Tanjiro was brought to the Hashira meeting with Nezuko. And while the two of them did not interact much, Mitsuri was one of the few Hashira who were not openly hostile towards the Kamado siblings.

The two of them eventually became good friends, so Mitsuri was quite happy to hear that Tanjiro had arrived in the Swordsmith Village, where she had been resting at the time. She spends a lot of time with him in the village and even helps him find the Yoriichi Type Zero doll; she would later rushes back to the village to help Tanjiro and the other Slayers against Gyokko and Hantengu. Now, their personalities.

Tanjiro has frequently been referred to as having soft eyes by others because he is naturally a compassionate guy. He exhibits incredible tenacity and will never give up once he establishes a goal to accomplish. The best illustration of this is his never-ending hunt for treatment for Nezuko.

Even though he is physically fit, he is not opposed to asking for assistance when needed. He shows a lot of love to his pals, especially his sister. However, Tanjiro’s most notable quality is his ability to get along with everyone, including demons, which frequently causes him to think twice before killing a demon.

The drawback to these pauses is that they frequently give the Demons time to recuperate so they can carry on battling later. Tanjiro has a raging inner fire of retaliation and rage that burns behind his outwardly affable and compassionate exterior.

On the other hand, Mitsuri is quite an emotional and passionate person who constantly compliments other people inside her mind, which probably has to do with why she is the Love Hashira. Rather shy, she is always gentle and kind with others, especially Obanai, with whom she seems to have a particularly strong bond. But she is also very nervous and cannot take insults.

Despite her gentle demeanor, Mitsuri shows no mercy towards Demons but maintains her gentle tone. She felt guilty for joining the Demon Slayer Corps to find a husband. But she has now shed that feeling of guilt. However, she is desperately looking for marriage as she wants to find a stronger man, which is quite difficult due to her strength. In addition to her rather emotional and loving traits, Mitsuri also shows a lot of childlike traits at times.

When asked to describe how to obtain the Demon Slayer Mark, she does it in a childlike manner. When the others hear this, their outraged responses make Mitsuri blush. As one would expect from Love Hashira, she is an extremely loving person who always expresses her affection to others. She begs them not to be killed when many Demon Slayers risk and give their lives to defend the last Hashira. After defeating Gyokko and Hantengu, she can become ecstatic and give her pals embraces out of gratitude that they survived.

So, as you can see, Mitsuri had a generally flirtatious personality. She was cheerful, she was always optimistic, and a bit whiney from time to time, but she was a very good and noble person who knew very well the feeling of rejection and solitude. She was a truly special person, and when she learned to accept that, she could become even better as a person, and she ultimately did.

In our opinion, a relationship between Tanjiro and Mitsuri would not have worked out. Sure, the two of them got along great, and they became great friends (Nezuko also loved Mitsuri as a sister), but a romance wasn’t the best solution for them. First of all, Mitsuri was older than Tanjiro, and while that wasn’t always an issue in Japan at the time, it would have been a major setback for them.

Secondly, Mitsuri wanted a strong man who could accept her for what she was and be on the same level as her, and Tanjiro simply did not fit that description. We actually doubt that this relationship would work in such a way.

Finally, Mitsuri liked Obanai, while Tanjiro liked Kanao. That was obvious from the very start, and in that aspect, pairing Mitsuri and Tanjiro would ruin two other beautiful and sincere ships, so this, as we’ve said, simply doesn’t make any sense at all. They are great friends and allies, but a relationship is out of the question in this case.
