Elden Ring staves are great to use for any player who is looking to build a mage in the game. Magic in Elden Ring tends to be a bit overpowered in terms of the damage output it can do, and that means that a pure mage can do well with a staff that’s able to complement what sorcery can do in the game. As such, if you’re looking for a staff that’s capable of allowing you to overpower different types of enemies in Elden Ring, we have a list of every staff and where you can find them.
Glintstone Staff
One of the things that Elden Ring does right is that the beginner weapons are actually pretty powerful, and that holds true with the Glintstone Staff, which is just a starter weapon. The reason why this is a capable staff is that it scales well with Intelligence and is strong enough to hold its own when it comes to its sorcery scaling.
The Glintstone Staff is the beginner weapon of the Prisoner class in Elden Ring. Even though it might be a beginner weapon, it’s not available until you get to the Caria Manor in the northwestern part of Liurnia of the Lakes. You’d have to loot it from the Noble Sorcerers in that area. But be careful against the giant spider hand monsters that can be tough to deal with if you’re still in the earlier stages of the game.
Astrologer’s Staff
The Astrologer’s Staff is another one of those great starter weapons that will surely be very useful during the beginning of the game. It scales well with Int and can increase your sorcery prowess better than most other starter weapons for mages in Elden Ring. This staff might be even better than the Glintstone Staff.
Another reason why the Astrologer’s Staff may be better than the Glintstone Staff is that you can acquire it in the Nomadic Merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes without having to go through any strong enemies. As long as you can get to that area and have 800 ruins, you’ll be able to purchase this staff. The Astrologer’s Staff is also available as a starting weapon for the Astrologer class.
Academy Glintstone Staff
The Academy Glintstone Staff is basically the better version of the basic Glintstone Staff and is going to be one of the first upgrades that many players choose during the early portion of the game. This staff does everything better than the Glintstone Staff because of its higher scaling.
You can get the Glintstone Staff by completing Thops’ questline in the game. This requires that you look for another Academy Glintstone Key that he could use to return to the Raya Lucaria Academy. However, you can also kill Thops the moment you see him if you want to acquire this staff without going through any trouble.
Carian Regal Scepter
Another great upgrade that players can get early on in the game is the Carian Regal Scepter. The only problem is that it requires 60 Intelligence points for you to use it, and that means that it might take a while before you can equip the staff, even if you did acquire it early. The Carian Regal Scepter boosts full moon sorcery and has a Spinning Weapon skill that allows you to defend yourself from mob monsters.
The only way for you to acquire the Carian Regal Scepter is by defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, at Raya Lucaria Academy. You’ll acquire the Remembrance of The Ful Moon, which you can trade with Enia at the Roundtable Hold for the Carian Regal Scepter.
Demi-Human Queen’s Staff
The Demi-Human Queen’s Staff is going to fool you at the beginning because it isn’t even as strong as some of the basic staves in the game. However, the true strength of this staff comes out when it is upgraded because of how its sorcery scaling will improve by leaps and bounds. This is why you might also want to get this staff early on.
You can actually get the Demi-Human Queen’s Staff pretty early in Elden Ring because you can find it in the Demin-Human Forest Ruins over at the Weeping Peninsula. Defeat the Demi-Human Queen boss in that dungeon to acquire this staff.
Meteorite Staff
One of the best staves in Elden Ring at the early stages of the game is the Meteorite Staff. There are even a lot of people who stick by this staff until the end of the game after they acquire it. The reason is that it comes with a whopping 262 sorcery scaling and has an S-level Intelligence scaling the moment you get it. However, it cannot be upgraded.
You can find the Meteorite Staff early in the game, as long as you avoid contact with any strong enemies on your way to this location. The Meteorite Staff is located in the Streets of Sages Ruins in Caelid. The best way to get here is to use the Sellia Crystal Tunnel teleporter chest in the Dragonburt Ruins and then exit the tunnel once you get there. You can find the staff in the Streets of Sages Ruins close to the Crystal Tunnel, and it will be hanging from a ledge in a room full of poison flowers.
Digger’s Staff
The Digger’s Staff is one of the best staves you can use in the game if you Stonedigger sorcery because it can boost the effects of that kind of magic. It does scale with Strength at the start, and that my turn off some players. However, it still has its uses in the game and may be one of the best staves in Elden Ring as long as you know how to use it.
You can get the Digger’s Staff in the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel in Liurnia of the Lakes. You just have to farm it off the Sorcerer Miners and the Stonediggers found in that area. However, you can also get it from the Sorcerer Miners in Sellia Crystal Tunnel.
Azur’s Glintstone Staff
The Azur’s Glintstone Staff is the staff that was once owned by the legendary Primeval Sorcerer named Azur. It is a favorite among different players because its maximum level allows you to have a strong staff that has a 300 sorcery scaling and an S-level Int scaling. Most mages usually use this as an endgame staff, especially because of how it speeds up casting time in exchange for using more FP. When used together with the Azur’s Armor Set, this staff is going to be overpowered.
You can get the Azur’s Glintstone Staff in the Raya Lucaria Academy. It can be found in the Church of Cuckoo Site of Grace by going up a ladder and heading to one of the smaller hallways with a strong soldier guarding it. Be careful because that soldier’s crossbow can kill a lot of players in one shot early in the game. After defeating that soldier, grab the staff from the treasure chest behind the soldier.
Carian Glintstone Staff
The Carian Glinstone Staff is another good upgrade to the starter staves that you can get in the game. It is slightly better than the beginner staves but has a skill that will allow you to boost your sword sorcery. And that means that this is a favorite among spellsword builds in the game.
This staff can be found in the Carian Study Hall in Liurnia of the Lakes. You can get it in a corpse in the room just before the second lift. However, you can only get this staff if you didn’t invert the Carian Study Hall yet.
Staff Of Loss
If you prefer to use sorceries that will allow you to become stealthier, the Staff of Loss should be quite useful. That’s because this staff allows you to improve your invisibility sorcery. It isn’t the best for straight-up battle, but it can be quite powerful when you use it the right way and if you are using a build that complements this staff’s power.
The Staff Of Loss can be found in Sellia, Town of Sorcery. It can be looted from a corpse found on one of the balconies in the area. You’d have to jump over the rooftops to get to this area in this puzzle town.
Lusat’s Glintstone Staff
The Lusat’s Glintstone Staff is also a powerful staff that a lot of players use. This staff has a high innate sorcery scaling and even scales with Strength. That means that it can be a good weapon for spellswords. However, the problem is that this staff consumes 50% more FP, and that means that its power comes at a great cost.
You can acquire the Lusat’s Glintstone Staff in Sellia, Town of Sorcery. You have to solve the puzzle first so that you can enter the boss room and defeat the Nox Swordstress and Nox Priest. The staff will be found from a chest that’s in the northern part of the boss area.
Crystal Staff
Those who use Crystalian sorceries would love the Crystal Staff because of its innate ability to improve the power of Crystalian sorceries. This is why it can be a powerful weapon at the early stages of the game, depending on the type of build you are using.
The Crystal Staff can be found in the Academy Crystal Cave, which is only accessible if you have a few Stonesword Keys with you. It should be found in an illusory rock somewhere on the left side of the dungeon. There will be a sorcerer guarding the chest that contains this staff.
Rotten Crystal Staff
The Rotten Crystal Staff is basically the upgrade of the Crystal Staff in the sense that it does everything better and can even cause Scarlet Rot buildup when you use it to strike enemies. However, it is a late-game staff that can be found in an area that you can access only when you’re already quite powerful and you already have a favored staff. As such, a lot of players don’t use this staff because they don’t need to anymore.
Nevertheless, the Rotten Crystal Staff can be found in Miquella’s Haligtree, specifically in Elphael, Brace of the Halgitree. You can acquire this staff only if you’ve acquired the Secret Haligtree Medallion. It can be found by defeating the Crystalian mages in that area.
Staff Of The Guilty
If you use Thorn sorcery, then the Staff of the Guilty is a good staff to use. It can even cause blood loss if you use it to strike enemies, and that can be useful whenever you are in a bind against some really tough opponents. The only problem is that this staff scales with Faith and not with Intelligence.
This staff can only be acquired if you are already a bit far enough in the game because it can only be found in Fort Laiedd in Mt. Gelmir. It is an uncommon drop from the skeletal cultists that are wearing red robes in that area. Farm the staff from those opponents.
Prince Of Death’s Staff
The Prince of Death’s Staff is a staff that’s capable of boosting Death sorcery. It is also a good staff to use if you are someone who uses a Faith-based sorcerer because of the fact that it scales with both Int and Faith. The only problem is that it can get a bit too half-baked for some players.
You can only get the Prince of Death’s Staff in a tower found in the Deeproot Depths. That means that you need to be able to access Nokron, Eternal City, to get to the Deeproot Depths. Nokron can be accessed by going through Ranni’s questline and by defeating Starscourge Radahn.
Carian Glintblade Staff
The Carian Glintblade Staff is actually a favorite among different players who use Glintblade sorcery, which is pretty strong when it comes to melee encounters. That’s because this sword is capable of enhancing the powerful Glintblade spells that some mages tend to use. It also has a good sorcery scaling as well.
Those who want to use this staff can find it in the Highway Lookout Tower in the eastern part of Liurnia of the Lakes. This means that you can acquire this staff the moment you are able to access Liurnia.
Gelmir Glintstone Staff
Those who use Lava sorcery will love the Gelmir Glintstone Staff because of how powerful it is and how it is. It also scales well with Faith, and that means that it is a favorite among fire magic users that prefer to use spells that scale with Faith.
However, the problem with the Gelmir Glintstone Staff is that it is fairly difficult to get. You need to go through the entire Volcano Manor area to get this staff, and that area isn’t the easiest place to get to, especially if you aren’t over-leveled. It can only be found by farming the Man-Serpent mage that can be found in the throne room in the Volcano Manor, and there is only one of those monsters that will spawn in that area.
Albinauric Glintstone Staff
Finally, we have the Albinauric Staff, which is a staff that scales with Arcane. This means that those who are using Arcane spells are able to make use of the one and only staff with an Arcane Scaling.
The only way to get this staff is to go through the Volcano Manor dungeon area. You need to get to the Guest Hall Site of Grace. From there, climb up the ladder all the way to the roof and then jump on a rooftop to get to a room with an Omenkiller. Defeat the enemy and acquire the staff in the same room.
