Minecraft: Here’s What Happens if You Leave Trees Floating (& What Happens if You Don’t)

One of the very first things to do when you generate a new world in Minecraft is to mine some tree blocks in order to make your first pickaxe, farming tools, and a door to protect you from creepers, zombies, spiders, and many more on your first night. In Bedrock mode, the game itself provides you with a tip not to leave the trees floating, so the question becomes, what would happen if you left those trees floating in Minecraft?
Survival mode
In survival mode, you will risk having a mob spawn in the tree even though with the newest update, the light level has to be zero in order for a mob to spawn, so I wouldn’t go as far as to say that this is factual anymore. If anything, by leaving floating trees behind, you’re at least giving mobs shade to hide from the sun.
Multiplayer mode
The server hosts worked hard to build the world, so why ruin it with floating trees that you can just mine to their fullest and get even more resources from? Unless you’re Dream, who made a name for himself making YouTube videos titled ”this cursed Minecraft video will trigger you,” where he did things like eating rotten flesh, please keep other players sane, and don’t leave them floating.

Since the matter is so frowned upon in multiplayer mode, seeing as it looks ugly and there are a lot of players with OCD when the developers turned to the community to ask what they wanted to see in Minecraft in the year 2020, one registered user suggested that trees left behind floating be turned into a mob after 3 days that has a crazy detecting range. They would move slowly so that you can outrun them, but they would be insanely powerful, kind of like Endermen.

In a different discussion in 2019, one registered user suggested a more philanthropical approach to leaving behind floating trees. A tree floating for more than 3 days in-game would turn into a ghast-looking creature. The only difference is that it would have the texture of the tree it spawned from and would have vine tentacles. It would float and leave saplings of its tree type planted below, and if a player stepped on these, the floating tree would then cause all saplings to become trees and send them flying as Iron Golems do. It doesn’t sound philanthropic, but it does allow for some outplay potential.
Theory crafting – why the game suggests you don’t leave floating trees
The discussion extends further as some players seem to think that the reason why the game recommends this is because of a joke. Don’t leave (as in leaf, it’s a pun) me hanging (as in floating).
What happens if you don’t leave floating trees behind?
If you don’t leave them behind, you’ve officially earned the community’s respect, and you’re no longer a noob in their eyes. That’s it, congratulations. Also, the leaves will decay and leave some resources behind – specifically, the saplings of that specific tree so that you can replant it. The chance of you getting a sapling is 1/20 and doesn’t change if you destroy the leaves or leave them to decay. On that note, don’t leave floating trees behind. Thank you!
