17 Strongest Mobs in Minecraft (Ranked)

Minecraft is home to some of the most unique and often fairly funny mobs to have ever been seen within the gaming world, but it also flaunts quite a few terrifying and tough mobs that can strike fear in any player. Stick around to find out about some of the strongest mobs in Minecraft to date, ranked according to their threat in the game.

17. Iron Golem

Making it to the last spot on this list of rough and tough Minecraft mobs is the Iron Golem. The Iron Golem has been a pretty challenging opponent for Minecraft players for quite some time, with some really high health and 50 hearts.

Although this mob is by no means the hardest to take down, it’s still definitely one of those Minecraft mobs that you’d want to avoid at all costs. If this guy doesn’t end up taking you out with hard-hitting shots, it’ll at least take you a while to defeat in return.

16. Witch

The Witch has been a classic in Minecraft for many years, flaunting some sneaky and really annoying tactics that can get the best of us at the worst of times. Witches typically roam, often at night, and they hold powerful Minecraft splash potions that they use to inflict damage on players, while simultaneously healing and buffing themselves.

Although Witches are not necessarily strong in terms of raw strength, as they only have 13 hearts, they are still really frustrating to deal with most of the time. Going up against them doesn’t always come down to the strength of your character, it’ll take more skill and strategy than usual to finally be free of this mob’s curses.

15. Zombified Piglins

Zombified Piglins are one of the inhabitants of the Minecraft Nether world, and while they are not the biggest issue to deal with (considering that they only have 10 hearts), they’re certainly much tougher than one might expect. These guys are mainly ranked lower since they are technically neutral and they will not attack players if they are left to their own devices.

However, if you attack them, which would be a massive mistake, they will become one of the biggest problems you might face in the Nether altogether. They do reward players with some good gold, but the possibility of taking on a horde of them is really something you’d want to avoid. Still, it’s best to be on guard just in case, since hitting them by accident can happen to the best of us.

14. Endermen

It’s hard to find any Minecraft player who isn’t absolutely terrified of Endermen, with their creepy behavior and glowing gazes – topped with unfathomable speed and unexpected aggression! Endermen in Minecraft have a connection to the End, Minecraft’s final dimension which served as the ultimate challenge for ages.

These guys have a ton of health with 20 hearts and can punt any Minecraft player off a cliff in a pinch. To top it all off, they can teleport as well, which makes them nearly impossible to pin down long enough to defeat. The main reason why they’re lower on the list is since they are pretty neutral unless you initiate combat – or make eye contact.

13. Shulker

Shulkers live in the End cities, which can be located in the dimension’s outskirts, and they have an above-average 15 hearts of health. They are similar to Endermen in the sense that they can teleport, making them really tricky to go up against, and their primary attack is a slow but deadly homing projectile that inflicts loads of damage.

To top it off, their homing projectiles inflict 20 seconds of levitation as well, which makes Minecraft players more vulnerable to even more projectiles – and so the cycle may continue until your character meets their demise. If you manage to survive somehow, you’ll still need to figure out how to withstand fall damage from hundreds of blocks above the city.

12. Wither Skeletons

If you’ve gotten way too comfortable with the typical ranged skeletons in Minecraft, then you’ll be in for quite a surprise with Wither Skeletons. These guys are not too strong with only 10 hearts, but they will inflict a wither effect every time you get hit – draining your health slowly over time, similar to poison.

Other than this, they can really mess with your mind while you’re going up against them since they turn health bars black – making them nearly impossible to see and even figure out how much life your character has left. While they are not the strongest mob out there, they are necessary for advancing which makes them a really difficult part of the endgame.

11. Zoglins

Zoglins are really interesting creatures (a mix between a Zombie and a Hoglin) with really odd backgrounds since they are created by bringing a classic Hoglin to the overworld. Their behavior is just as odd and tricky to put up with, as they are extremely aggressive and will attack just about anything that walks, talks, or breathes in the overworld.

These guys are tanky with 20 hearts, being able to withstand tons of damage while being able to hit really hard as well. While they are not the toughest or strongest mobs in the game, their ruthless nature and aggression makes them a force to be reckoned with.

10. Blazes

Getting to the Nether can be a really tough process, and the challenge only begins once you finally get there. Players will be met with a range of foes and aggressive mobs to take down, but one of the most feared is the Blaze. While they only have 10 hearts, they are not to be underestimated.

Blazes live in Nether Fortresses in Minecraft, which are terrifying structures that you may need to visit in order to progress in the game. Their attacks are not super powerful, but they have an insane range which can be seriously dangerous considering the surroundings. Players could be knocked into lava, set on fire, and much more, all without being close enough to stop them!

9. Vindicator

The Vindicator is next up on the list, wielding a classic look with a menacing axe as well as 12 hearts. These mobs can be found wandering around Woodland Mansions or Raids, and they also feature a rather interesting little nod to The Shining.

Vindicators will end up attacking everything in the game if you place a “Vindicator Johnny” name tag on it. Vindicators deal huge damage and have some pretty impressive health as well. While this mob may seem simple, it really puts up a solid fight with pure strength and brutality.

8. Piglin Brute

If you’ve come looking for a solid mob to take on just for the sake of landing some solid loot in return, then the Piglin Brute may just be the opponent for you! These guys also live in the Nether, specifically in Bastion Remnants, as they guard the various treasures that can be found in these areas.

Piglin Brutes do melee damage with a classic weapon, but they have some serious tanky health stats with 25 hearts, which make them challenging to go up against. They can transform into damage sponges as they please, which ultimately gives them plenty of time to land some good shots on you before hitting the ground.

7. Ravager

More Illagers will begin spawning in Minecraft as Raids progresses, and they all may be fairly similar over time. But, once you get to the later rounds, some of them may start riding Ravagers – which are essentially the equivalent of Iron Golems in terms of raw power and strength.

These creatures have some ridiculous health points with a whopping 50 hearts, which allow them to simply absorb damage with a smile. Although they don’t necessarily do high damage to players, they can really mess things up and through you off your game considering how many other foes you’ll have to match up against in Raids – not to mention that they can wreck your base, too!

6. Evokers

If the Witch was always the biggest annoyance in your Minecraft gaming journey, then you may be nervous to find that there’s a new mastermind and merciless mage on the block (literally). These mobs only have 12 hearts, but they are the most powerful and devastating of all of the Illagers you could possibly go up against in Minecraft – with magic abilities that can inflict damage in numerous ways.

They can summon snapping jaws from beneath your feet, which can cause AoE damage (quite unique compared to many other Minecraft mobs), and they can summon Vexes as well. Vexes are hard-to-hit mobs that can fly and phase through walls – so, Evokers really have a ton of potential, although it’s never for the player’s sake.

5. Charged Creepers

It may be nearly impossible to find any veteran Minecraft player who has never been hit by an unexpected creeper blast. So many of us have been punted off cliffs or even had them blow holes that unleash flood or lava pools – they can really cause a ton of problems in a range of simple but annoying ways.

But, Charged Creepers, which are Creepers after they get struck by lightning, just take everything up a notch. One single blast from a Charged Creeper may be one of the most devastating and most damaging things that can ever happen to you in such a short timeframe. Thankfully, these mobs are pretty rare so they are easy to avoid.

4. Elder Guardian

If you found it challenging to go up against the classic Guardians, then the Elder Guardians might just have you swimming in circles. These terrifying sea monsters guard each Ocean Monument as well as the valuable gold and sponges that await players within them – but, they do have a special talent for drowning anyone who gets close enough.

Similar to the regular Guardians in Minecraft, the Elder Guardians have Thorns, which inflict damage whenever players hit them, as well as a powerful laser attack. They also have a crazy 40 hearts, but what makes them truly unique is their ability to inflict Mining Fatigue III.

Players will end up breaking blocks super slowly when they are under this curse, which will make it really easy to become trapped within the chambers of the Ocean Monument they are protecting. Being prevented from digging your way could just be your ultimate downfall since players might just eventually drown.

3. Ender Dragon

If you’ve been playing Minecraft for a while, you’ll probably know that defeating the Ender Dragon has been the ultimate achievement for the majority of Minecraft’s running. Although its 100 heart health stats no longer make it the baddest boss in the game, it’s still a total legend – and for a good reason. In fact, the Ender Dragon would make an epic pet!

The Ender Dragon has three main attacks, from launching fireballs with a side of toxic breath to punting players into the air – only for Minecraft gamers to await their inevitably deadly fall damage. She gets healed by the pillars as well, and even though she’s weaker on her fountain, she’s still seriously tough to beat in any circumstance.

2. Wither

The Wither is possibly one of the toughest opponents players will ever have to face in Minecraft, flaunting 150 hearts in Java and a whopping 300 hearts in Bedrock. But, it’s even tricky to summon this beast since players will need to take down some Wither Skeletons and gather three rare skulls just to get the Wither to spawn in the first place.

When it’s not properly contained, a Wither can unleash absolute devastation and chaos, with the possibility of totally destroying your Minecraft overworld. This undead boss will attack you by launching explosive skulls, and some of Wither’s attacks can even demolish obsidian!

If that’s not enough, the skulls even have a wither effect that deals damage over time similar to poison damage. Thankfully, defeating this creature will be greatly rewarded since players will receive a Nether Star in return.

1. Warden

Making it to the number one spot as the strongest and most ruthless aggressive mob in the entire game is the Warden, recently added within the 1.19 Minecraft update. This mob is said to have more health than Wither and the Ender Dragon combined! It takes massive and high-damage dealing shots to any player while being an absolute bullet sponge, and most Minecraft gamers probably wouldn’t live long enough to kill it.

The Warden can be spawned and has extremely powerful melee attacks – and just when you think you can safe-spot the guy, it’ll go ahead and whip out some sonic beams that bypass armor and even the best Minecraft enchantments! The only saving grace is that this vicious foe is actually blind, so you may be able to sneak past if you’re really quiet – it might just be your only hope if you want to explore the newly released Ancient Ruin areas!

That’s all of the strongest Minecraft mobs in 2022, with images thanks to the Minecraft Wiki. It can be pretty easy to forget that Minecraft actually has some horror elements, especially considering how adorable some of the tameable Minecraft animals are! Although the ranking and placement of these tough and hostile Minecraft mobs are always up for debate, they will definitely be keeping you on your toes whether you’re exploring the overworld, the underworld, or anything in between.
