Konohamaru Sarutobi is a jōnin from Konohagakure, grandson of the Third Hokage. During his time as a genin he was a member of Team Ebisu along with Moegi and Udon. He is currently the leader of Team Konohamaru, made up of Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki. In this article, we are going to tell you all you need to know about Konohamaru Sarutobi in Boruto, including, but not limited to, his age and several other intriguing facts we have gathered for you.

How old is Konohamaru in Boruto?

Konohamaru Sarutobi was born on December 30 and was 8/9 years old in Part I of the manga, and 11/12 in Part II of the manga. If we consider the chronology of Boruto, it would mean that Konohamaru is 27 years old in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

Can Konohamaru use the Rasengan?

Before leaving the village, Naruto taught Konohamaru how to use the Rasengan. Although at first he needed help from a shadow clone to execute it, he eventually learned to perform it himself with one hand. In the anime, his ability allowed him to accidentally create a Great Ball Rasengan without prior training. As an adult, he can combine his Rasengan with Boruto’s to create a much more powerful one. So you could say he is a pretty powerful Rasengan user.

Is Konohamaru going to become Hokage?

Konohamaru is a very specific character with a specific personality. He and his teammates constantly try to quietly follow Naruto Uzumaki with poor executions from the Invisibility Cloak. Konohamaru’s biggest influence is Naruto himself, looking up at him like a role model.

At various times, Naruto and Konohamaru seem to have some common bond with each other, such as the use of perverted techniques, determination, and fiery demeanor. Konohamaru ends most of his sentences with “Kore”, a bit like Naruto with his “dattebayo“. Even though Konohamaru and Naruto pretend to be rivals, the two clearly have a deep relationship and understanding of each other, which goes far beyond the boundaries of a mentor / protégé relationship.

Konohamaru idolizes Naruto in a way like no one else, which was also demonstrated in the first two seasons combined, with Konohamaru calling Naruto “Chief.” He confided in Naruto and told him he was sad because no one saw him for who he really is; on the contrary, they only saw him as the grandson of the Third Hokage and were always called “honorable grandson” instead of Konohamaru. He loved Naruto because he thought they were similar.

They eventually became very close, with Konohamaru constantly calling Naruto “Nii-san”, which can be translated as big brother, and Naruto also taught Konohamaru a few techniques, which the latter is good at. Like Naruto, Konohamaru dreams of becoming a Hokage. However, he is content to wait until he is the Eighth Hokage, as he is perfectly convinced that Naruto was going to succeed Tsunade, as the Sixth Hokage; Naruto eventually became the Seventh, succeeding Kakashi.

Now, this tells us that Konohamaru is not the Hokage at this point, nor does he become Hokage in the near future. Naruto is still very young and he is alive and well, so there’s not much space for Konohamaru at this point. Still, Konohamaru is going to continue working on his skills and will one day certainly become worthy enough to succeed Naruto.

What are Konohamaru’s powers and abilities?

Initially, Konohamaru’s abilities were lackluster, failing to execute even the most basic techniques. However, he later managed to improve considerably through his efforts, being able to learn jōnin-level techniques and defeat Pain’s Naraka Path despite still being a genin. As an adult, Konohamaru became a jōnin regarded as a genius and an elite member of the Sarutobi clan with first-class abilities.

In his brief fight against Path Naraka Konohamaru, he was shown to be fast and possess evasive abilities, managing to dodge most of his opponent’s attacks. In the anime, as an adult, he was shown to have great speed, being able to get behind his opponents without them noticing and knock them out in one hit.

In addition to that, he was able to easily overpower several academy students in hand-to-hand combat, including Boruto and Sarada despite his talent in this area and the latter’s Sharingan. His ability even allowed him to fend off two opponents at once in mid-air while holding a person. In his time as a student and genin, most of Konohamaru’s arsenal consisted of perverted techniques that he had either learned from Naruto or developed on his own.
