Inosuke vs. Doma: Who Won the Fight & How?

The Demons of Demon Slayer are a truly fascinating lot. They come in all shapes and sizes, and while they are evil in their demonic form, their backstories and their lives while they were human usually contain a very tragic note that makes you feel sad for them. But there are also exceptions, and one such exception is the protagonist of this article – Doma. The Upper Rank Two of the Twelve Kizuki, Doma is an exceptionally powerful Demon and a very vile character at that. During the Infinity Castle Arc, Doma fought a series of Demon Slayers, among which was also Inosuke Hashibara. In this article, we are going to tell you who won that fight and how.

Inosuke Hashibara was technically able to defeat Doma, but it was with Kanao Tsuyuri’s help and only after Doma had absorbed a Wisteria-filled Shinobu Kochou. Since Wisteria acts as a poison to Demons, Doma was progressively weakened from the inside, and after a long and exhausting fight, Inosuke and Kanao were able to decapitate Doma.

The rest of this article will further elaborate on the above-given answer, as we will provide you with more details on the fight between Inosuke, Kanao, and Shinobu, on one side, and Doma, on the other. This was definitely one of the most thrilling fights in the whole series, which is why we will provide you with a full recap, which also means that there will be spoilers present, which we must warn you about.

It took Shinobu’s sacrifice, as well as all of Inosuke’s and Kanao’s efforts to defeat Doma

Doma is introduced to the story as an exceptionally powerful demon and a member of Muzan’s Twelve Kizuki, where he holds the rank of the Upper-Rank Two, meaning that he is the second most powerful demon in the group; the first one is Kokushibo, Yoriichi’s brother. Due to his beautiful rainbow eyes and pure white hair, Doma was considered a supernatural being from birth and became the religious leader of the Heavenly Faith Cult, a position he maintained until nowadays.

Although he was introduced much later in the story, Doma had a very important role in many characters’ lives, including Shinobu and Inosuke. As for Inosuke, after his mother ran away from her abusive husband and his mother, she joined Doma’s cult; Doma accepted her because he found her beautiful and would later kill her husband and his mother when they came looking for her. But, when Inosuke’s mother realized what was going on, she ran away and saved Inosuke, but ultimately ended up being killed by Doma.

Doma would later recall this story while fighting Inosuke to taunt him, calling her stupid and unfortunate, which significantly angered Inosuke and helped him fight Doma, as the battle also gained a personal moment for him at that moment. But what happened during the fight anyway?

It all started when Doma killed Kanae Kochou, Shinobu’s sister. Because of that, Shinobu knew that she was going to die at Doma’s hands, so she made a plan to foresee this. With the help of Tamayo, she inoculated herself for a year with a strong dose of Wisteria poison in her body. The total dose administered was seventy times more powerful than the common doses. Shinobu was not affected by this, but anticipating that Doma would ingest her, she was willing to sacrifice herself to poison Doma from the inside. Although Doma initially resisted the poison, it took a toll on him and his regenerative skills were not as efficient as they were before, which was a crucial fact in his downfall.

After Doma absorbed Shinobu, Kanao was left alone to face the powerful Demon. And while it seemed that Doma would finally kill her, Inosuke jumped through the ceiling at just the right moment and used his Beast Breathing, Fifth Fang: Crazy Cutting, to defend Kanao. He then noticed Doma’s rank and, in his unique way, comment how great that was and how he would definitely become a Hashira if he killed Doma; he then asked Kanao what his title as Hashira would be. He wonders where Shinobu is and after Doma tells him what happened, he, remembering Shinobu’s kindness to him, becomes very angry and promises Doma that he would slaughter him, proceeding to attack him with his Beast Breathing, Fourth Fang: Slice ‘n’ Dice.

Doma comments on how bizarre Inosuke’s techniques are, as Kanao warns him to be wary of Doma’s cold air. Doma tries to decapitate Inosuke with his fang, but Insouke jumps on the fan and dodges the attack. The two then proceed to exchange attacks until Inosuke uses his Beast Breathing, Ninth Fang: Extending Bendy Slash to cut Doma’s head off, but fails and only manages to slice his eyes, which quickly regenerate. Commenting further on how bizarre he is, Doma quickly steals Inosuke’s mask, and as the Demon Slayer yells at him to give it back, Doma remembers him.

Doma then tells that he knew his mother, which Inosuke refutes, claiming that he was raised by boars, but Doma tells him that he is referring to his real mother, which angers Inosuke. He tries to attack him with his Beast Breathing, Sixth Fang: Palisade Bite, but ends up with two deep cuts on his torso, as Doma proceeds to tell the story of Inosuke’s mother, how she came to his cult, and how he ultimately killed her, calling her stupid and unfortunate. This story makes Inosuke even madder, and he promises to kill Doma and send him to hell for killing his mother, as well as Shinobu.

The battle intensifies then, with Doma creating clones of himself and Kanao telling Inosuke to hold their ground only a bit longer, knowing that Shinobu’s poison would take effect soon. And it happened. At one point during the battle, Doma’s face began to melt, and he began to crumble. He tried to save himself using his Blood Demon Art: Rime – Water Lily Bodhisattva, but even that was in vain. Kanao initially tried to cut Doma’s head off but was unable to do so; Inosuke then comes up with the Beast Breathing, Sudden Throwing Strike, throwing his blades into Kanao’s to give them the necessary strength to cut through Doma’s neck. They succeeded, and Doma’s head finally fell down.
