Jason Momoa Talks Lobo Role with Jimmy Kimmel

Jason Momoa stopped by Jimmy Kimmel’s show recently, and we got some exciting details about his upcoming role as Lobo in ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’ The big guy is clearly thrilled to step into the boots of this wild DC character, and it’s easy to see why.
During the chat, Momoa shared how Lobo has been a favorite of his for years. ‘I’ve have every Lobo comic,’ he said, revealing just how deep his love for the character goes. He even thought he’d get to play Lobo way back when Zack Snyder called him for ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ Instead, he ended up as Aquaman, which surprised him since he doesn’t exactly match the comic book look for that hero. Now, though, he’s finally getting his shot at Lobo, and it feels like a perfect fit.
The conversation took a fun turn when Jimmy brought up a 2003 Lobo comic cover. ‘This cover is from 2003 and it seems like they predicted you in the future right,’ Jimmy said, pointing out how the dreadlocked, motorcycle-riding, cigar-smoking character looks a lot like Momoa. Jason agreed, laughing, ‘Yeah. That’s pretty wild huh. Rides a motorcycle smokes cigars loves Guinness I mean come on.’ It’s almost spooky how well it lines up with his vibe.
Momoa’s currently in London working on ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ which stars Milly Alcock as the lead. He confirmed it on the show, saying, ‘I’m right now working on Supergirl, yeah.’ The movie, set to hit theaters June 26, 2026, follows Supergirl on a cosmic revenge mission, with Lobo as a key player. I can’t wait to see how Momoa brings this tough, chaotic antihero to life.
Jimmy also mentioned how rare it is for an actor to play both a hero and a villain in the same comic universe. ‘Besides Aquaman which we know you are you have been this is a very rare honor I think that has been awarded only to Robert Downey Jr, Josh Brolin…,’ he said, noting Momoa’s unique spot in DC history. Jason’s clearly proud to join that club.
We also learned a bit about how this role came to be. ‘I thought I was going to be playing Lobo when Zack Snder called me because it was Batman versus Superman,’ Momoa explained. Back then, they needed a villain, and he figured Lobo was the guy. Years later, it’s finally happening, and he’s loving every minute of it.
The buzz around ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ is growing, especially with Momoa’s energy behind Lobo. His larger-than-life personality seems tailor-made for the character, who’s known for his brute strength and dark humor. This could be one of his most exciting roles yet, and I’m already counting down to 2026 to see it on the big screen.
