Jujutsu Kaisen: Dagon’s Domain, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha, Explained!
The Shibuya Incident is very much the center of the action in the anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen, and currently, as far as the anime is concerned, the fight in focus is the one against Dagon, and it has introduced us to a lot of new characters and their skills and abilities. While Dagon is not a new character, his powers and abilities are new, as the series has not introduced us to them so far, which is why they are also a major topic of interest for fans. In this article, we are going to talk about Dagon’s Domain, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha, as you’re going to find out all you need to know about it.
Dagon’s Domain is as strong as it is beautiful
Dagon is a very interesting character, as you might assume. He was introduced fairly early in the series as a member of Mahito’s and Kenjaku’s group, but unlike the other powerful curses, he seemed to be more of a pet to them than anything else.
He looked like a small version of Lovecraft’s Cthulhu, and he simply walked around with them and said nothing. He also liked to swim in a large ocean in a special Domain that later became his own. But, while Dagon was introduced as such, it turned out that he was an exceptionally powerful S-Grade cursed spirit, and a lot of his power lies within his powerful Domain, which will be the topic of this article.
Before we get down to business, allow us to tell you what a Domain is in the first place. A Domain Expansion is a unique and potent method that allows users to materialize their intrinsic domain. This is done by employing cursed energy to create an environment within the separated space created by casting a barrier. This is a technique only high-level Jujutsu Sorceres and Curses may employ. Although a Domain must have much Cursed Energy to materialize, using it against opponents has several benefits.
So, as far as Dagon is concerned, his Domain is called Horizon of the Captivating Skandha. Horizon of the Captivating Skandha is an Innate Domain built from the molding of cursed energy. As with any Domain Expansion, Horizon of the Captivating Skandha allows all its users’ attacks to hit their opponent with greater power. Any shikigami summoned by the user will make a successful attack against the opponent, which is in line with the sure-hit rule that governs all Domains.
What does it look like? Well, like Dagon, who is unique among cursed spirits, his Domain is also quite unique as we have not seen a domain that is so beautiful and so tranquil, such as Horizon of the Captivating Skandha, but also very dangerous at the same time. Dagon creates a tropical island surrounded by a vast, seemingly endless ocean. The island has a palm tree forest in its center, surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches. The weather is also beautiful and always sunny, with the ocean always calm.
It seems like a nice place to be in, right? And it is, as Kenjaku and the others often hung out and hid inside Dagon’s Domain, they enjoyed the sun and the beaches, playing games and discussing their plans. Dagon, on the other hand, liked to swim inside his Domain, which is what he was often seen doing.
But, for his enemies, his Domain was exceptionally dangerous. Namely, with the above-mentioned sure-hit rule, Dagon was, in his full form, exceptionally powerful in his Domain, as it allowed him to use his other techniques, like the Death Swarm, with extreme efficiency. He was, with his Shikigami, able to hold his ground against Nanami, Naobito, and Maki, severely injuring the former two and nearly killing Maki; this is important to understand, as Naobito and Nanami were exceptionally powerful.
It wasn’t until Toji arrived and used his unique power that Dagon was defeated inside his Domain, which makes sense, as no one except Toji (or the likes, for example, Gojo, Geto, Kenjaku, Sukuna, …) was able to defeat him, thus proving just how powerful he was, but also how powerful his Domain was, as it gave him a significant boost in power and it made him almost invincible.
He also had a very good advantage there, as he was able to fight both on land and in the water, an advantage that his enemies did not have, as they could not live underwater like him.
And that is all that has to be said about Dagon’s Domain. We have explained why Horizon of the Captivating Skandha was so special and so powerful, and we have given you a proper overview of all the information related to this exceptionally powerful Domain.
