The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen introduced us to several new characters, and while the Gojo’s Past Arc focused primarily on Riko Amanai and Toji Fushiguro, several other characters were introduced as well, and one of them is Tsumiki Fushiguro. Tsumiki Fushiguro was Megumi’s “sister”; she was first mentioned at the start of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, which means that she is not a completely new character, as she was seen in a flashback early on in the series, but the ending of the Gojo’s Past Arc finally provided us with some information about her, and we can now finally discuss her and her story more. In this article, you will find out whether Tsumiki has any powers and whether she is a sorceress.

Tsumiki Fushiguro was born without any powers, but she later received some from Kenjaku. As her biological parents had no affinity towards cursed energy, Tsumiki was born without any powers whatsoever, but Kenjaku realized her potential and wanted to use her as part of his plan, so he used Mahito’s technique to imbue her with enough cursed energy to make her potent vessel later on. This granted her some powers, but she was soon possessed by Yorozu, who used her body until both of them died at the hands of Sukuna.

The rest of this article will be about Tsumiki Fushiguro, as we will focus more on her powers and abilities in the series and how her story evolved in light of that fact. We will tell you who Tsumiki Fushiguro is and how her story is related to her powers, i.e., what happened to her later and how it influenced her powers and abilities. Still, be careful, as we must inform you that this article will contain many spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, so you have to decide for yourselves how you want to approach it.

Tsumiki had no powers in the beginning, but her whole story actually evolved without her having much say in it

Long story short, Tsumiki is best known for being Megumi Fushiguro’s step-sister, but her story doesn’t start off with her, but rather with Toji Fushiguro. Toji was born with a Heavenly Restriction, so his family, the Zenin, shunned him. One day, Toji decided that he would no longer put up with this rejection and left them.

He descended into chaos and became a sorcerer assassin for hire and a gambler, but all changed when he fell in love with an unknown woman whose last name was Fushiguro. When they got married, Toji gave up his Zen’in name and adopted hers, becoming Toji Fushiguro. Megumi, the couple’s only child, had a high propensity to manifest cursed energy. As Toji gave up his career and gambling to be with his family, the marriage now appeared fulfilling.

But, the happiness lasted for a short time, as Megumi’s mother died, and Toji again succumbed to his chaos, completely neglecting Megumi in the process. But he would meet another unnamed woman who would become his second wife, changing his personal life once more.

Tsumiki, a girl who was just a little older than Megumi and who, once their parents got married, became her stepbrother at that time, was the child that the unnamed woman already had; her biological father was never revealed. Shortly after that, their parents vanished, leaving the two siblings to take care of themselves.

Now, this explains how Tsumiki became part of the Fushiguro family, but unlike Megumi, who was a very powerful sorcerer, and Toji, whose Heavenly Restriction cut his cursed energy to zero but gave him other supernatural abilities, Tsumiki had no natural affinity to be a jujutsu sorcerer, which actually makes sense seeing how she was not actually related – by blood – to either Toji or Megumi. Her first contact with cursed energy actually came much later, when she was a high-schooler.

When she was in her third year of schooling, she traveled to Yasohachi Bridge with some of her friends. There, something happened that caused her to be cursed, as we learn at the beginning of the story when it is revealed that Megumi has a “sick” sister that he must take care of. She was in a coma and had a weird chain of events not happened. She probably would have remained in a coma for some time.

But Pseudo-Geto, who was actually Kenjaku, had other ideas for her. Before the infamous Shibuya Incident, he used his Uzumaki technique to steal Mahito’s Idle Transformation technique, which turned non-sorcerers into sorcerers by giving them cursed energy, and he imbued Tsumiki with cursed energy to turn her into a future vessel.

As a result, Tsumiki naturally gained more vitality and came out of her coma. However, given what Kenjaku had indicated, she still had a task to complete, so her “recovery” wasn’t really all that. But, this is how she actually received some of her powers, although, based on the fact that we haven’t seen much of her afterward, she did not know how to use them, nor was she – probably – aware of them.

So, what happened later in the story with her and her powers? Well, seeing how we haven’t seen much of her, we assume that not much had happened with her until the Culling Game Arc when she was possessed by Yorozu, who wanted to re-establish her relationship with Sukuna. You can read about how that ended in a separate article we have already written.

How Did Sukuna Take Over Megumi in Jujutsu Kaisen?

So, to sum things up, Tsumiki Fushiguro was born without powers, and she was not a jujutsu sorceress. Still, Kenjaku imbued her with some powers so he could use her as a vessel for Yorozu, which was part of his larger plan.

At that point, she received some powers, but she was never actually a Jujutsu Sorceress, as she did not know how to use her powers; Yorozu did, but that was Yorozu possessing her body and not Tsumiki, so we cannot really consider that part to be her contribution.
