Jujutsu Kaisen: Does Yuji Itadori Have a Domain Expansion?
Yuji Itadori is, as everyone knows, the principal protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen. He is the boy who ate Sukuna’s finger and has, thanks to that, received a boost in his cursed energy and has, thus, become the principal character of the story. Now, while powerful and possessing many new techniques, one cannot but wonder whether Yuji can use Domain Expansion, and in this article, we are going to answer that for you.
As of the current timeline, Yuji Itadori cannot use Domain Expansion, i.e., he does not have a Domain. He has several powers that are related to his jujutsu skills and his control of cursed energy, but Domain Expansion is currently not one of them. He is also unable to use Sukuna’s Domain Expansion, as Sukuna only provided him with a boost of his own powers, but Itadori cannot really use any of Sukuna’s powers in that aspect. It is unknown whether Yuji Itadori is going to be able to use Domain Expansion in the future.

Namely, Domain Expansion is an exceptionally important ability, and it is a jujutsu sorcerer’s or a cursed spirit’s trademark move, also – in most cases – their most powerful one. This is why people are wondering about Itadori’s Domain Expansion and why we will use this article to explain everything you ever needed to know about the topic at this point. Now, we have to warn you that there will be spoilers in this article, so be careful how you approach it if you’re not fully up-to-date with the story of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Yuji Itadori cannot use Sukuna’s powers, and he does not have his own Domain, but it is uncertain what the future holds in this respect
Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen will know that Yuji Itadori is not up to much at this moment in the story. Currently, Gojo is fighting Sukuna, and everyone else and their grandmothers (except Kenjaku, but that’s just Kenjaku being Kenjaku for you) is standing there and observing the fight.
Why is this relevant? Well, we thought we needed to stress this out to explain that at this moment, Yuji is doing nothing to improve his abilities, so if he ever actually gets a Domain Expansion, it is going to be later in the series, after Sukuna’s fight with Gojo is over and Gojo (hopefully!) comes out as the winner of that fight. Now, getting back to Itadori’s Domain Expansion.
A Domain Expansion is a special and powerful technique that enables the users to realize their innate domain by casting a barrier to create a separate space and using cursed energy to construct an environment within it.
Only extremely skilled Jujutsu Sorcerers and Curses may claim to be able to use this technique. The ability to materialize a domain costs a lot of cursed energy, yet it has several benefits when applied to enemies.
A domain with no spells attached to it is also seen as unfinished. It seems necessary to use a hand signal or symbol unique to the Domain holder to use this technique. A sphere of energy quickly encloses the user and their opponent(s) and traps them inside when a Domain Expansion is used.
Also, it is believed that while entering an enemy’s Domain from the outside is rather simple, it is said to be nearly impossible to escape from its walls through normal methods. Due to the surroundings, the owner’s abilities are strengthened in a Domain, providing them access to new spells or improved versions of old ones.
As you can see, a Domain Expansion is truly the pinnacle of a user’s skill set, and it is quite powerful, which means that only the strongest and most skilled characters in the series are able to materialize and use a Domain in Jujutsu Kaisen. So, from that perspective, where does Itadori come in?
We know that Itadori is not one of the series’ strongest characters. He is skilled, that cannot be denied, but he is not among the best and top characters from the series, and from that aspect, we cannot really say that he “deserves” a Domain based on what he has shown so far. In fact, when he started off, he had no powers whatsoever, and it was only after he ingested Sukuna’s first finger that he started showing powers, which he later learned how to control and use in battle thanks to Gojo’s training.
Now, so far, Itadori has demonstrated some amazing physical traits. He is fast and can pack a punch, and his endurance is superhuman, making him a respectable fighter. But, as far as his cursed energy-related skills are concerned, he does not have many.
Sure, he has immense cursed energy thanks to a combination of his own potential and Sukuna’s powers, but he has so far only mastered two techniques – Divergent Fist and Black Flash, neither of which are even close to a Domain Expansion in any way imaginable. So no, Yuji Itadori does not have a Domain, and he cannot manifest it yet.
Some of you might think that Yuji could use Sukuna’s powers to manifest a Domain, even possibly Sukuna’s own powerful Domain, but that is simply not true. Their cohabitation simply did not work like that, and while Itadori did have some benefits from hosting Sukuna (like an augmentation of his own energy and resistance to poisons), he couldn’t really use Sukuna’s powers, as it simply did not work like that.
On top of that, Sukuna is not even inside Itadori anymore, as he has, not too long ago, possessed Megumi’s body and is using Megumi to fight Gojo at the time of writing this article.
Will Itadori get a Domain in the future? We don’t know. It is a long way from where he is now to getting a Domain, but Akutami is no stranger to surprises so we’ll just have to wait it out and see.
