Jujutsu Kaisen is known for its powerful characters and its brilliant fights, some of which are among the best animated in the history of anime. The second season is currently being aired after the first one premiered a while ago, and the prequel movie became a great success, and while we’re waiting for that, we have decided to compare two extremely powerful characters from the series, one of them an extremely powerful and important entity, and the other a hero-turned-villain. One of them is Master Tengen, of course, the entity that keeps the barriers of jujutsu society in balance, while the other is Suguru Geto, a protagonist-turned-villain and Gojo’s former best friend. In this article, you will find out who would win in a fight between the two.

Geto would win in a fight against Tengen. And while Geto initially worked to protect Master Tengen, he eventually became a villain who, at the peak of his powers, would probably be able to defeat Tengen. Namely, Master Tengen were a non-fighter, and while they were powerful, they weren’t any good in a fight. Geto, on the other hand, could absorb curses and was second to only Gojo, the second-strongest sorcerer in the series, which is why we think he would win against Tengen.

Unlike our usual structure, we won’t actually be doing a category-by-category analysis of the two characters as we don’t have enough information on Master Tengen’s skills to do a proper analysis. This is why we will simply present their known powers and abilities to you here and then explain our above-given answer so that you can understand completely why it is like it is, i.e., why we honestly think that Suguru Geto would, at the peak of his powers, be able to defeat Master Tengen in a direct clash.

Suguru Geto was the second strongest jujutsu sorcerer, behind Satoru Gojo (of course)

Suguru Geto was an interesting character. He was a powerful jujutsu sorcerer who went to school and was in the same class as Satoru Gojo. By his own admission, he was exceptionally strong, and he considered Gojo and himself to be exceptionally strong. Later, though, his ideals changed, and he became a villain before eventually being killed by Gojo.

Due to his danger to humanity, Suguru Geto was regarded as the most lethal curse manipulator. While they were classmates, Geto and Gojo were recognized as “the strongest” students. Many times, he was able to easily defeat expert curse users. He possesses a considerable number of curses, each with its own special abilities and combat roles. Thanks to the many curses and other curse users on his side, Suguru has the bravery and expertise to wage war against the entire jujutsu society.

Suguru is noted for possessing a massive amount of cursed energy and the capacity to simultaneously control thousands of curses. Due to the nature of his jujutsu, Suguru is well aware of the functioning of Cursed Energy. He has control over it and can use it to construct weapons or hide defects. He also detects the flow of evil energy emanating from other exorcists. Suguru can tame curses by absorbing them into a little sphere that he eats thanks to his natural skill, “Cursed Spirit Manipulation.”

He is also skilled in both martial arts that employ weapons and those that do not for hand-to-hand fighting. Suguru uses the fact that his opponents typically underestimate his physical strength because of his proficiency in controlling curses to fight for him.

The Playful Cloud, an S-class cursed weapon he used to destroy Yuta and Rika, proves his proficiency with cursed weapons. He could block Yuta’s sword strikes and Rika’s physical assaults.

Suguru excelled in the exorcism school right away. His acute intelligence helped him in battle because he could anticipate his opponent’s moves. Suguru used the resources accumulated via a series of strategic moves to confront the whole exorcist community, and the Parade of Curses successfully drew all exorcists to Kyoto and Shinjuku.

Meanwhile, Suguru broke inside the Tokyo Exorcism School to fight Yuta directly and capture Rika Orimoto, but he ultimately failed because Yuta was simply too strong for him.

Master Tengen was powerful, but more or less useless in a fight

Tengen, better known as Master Tengen and referred to as ‘they’ in the series, is a supporting character in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series. They are an immortal jujutsu sorcerer who remains sheltered in the Tombs of the Star Corridor at the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College.

They possess a cursed technique that grants them immortality and allows them to strengthen the barriers of jujutsu colleges. Every 500 years, they must change their body since their technique does not prevent aging. Other than using their barriers, Tengen does not alter the basic tenets of reality.

Tengen’s major skill is an immortality-granting technique called the Immortality Cursed Technique. While immortality offers perpetual life, it does not stop the aging process; it only causes a slowdown of aging. This is why Master Tengen must restart the procedure and the technique, which stabilizes the jujutsu society’s barriers every 500 years by merging with a compatible vessel known as the Star Plasma Vessel.

If that fusion doesn’t take place, Master Tengen will transform into a brand-new lifeform that will lose its reason and maybe turn into an unforeseen enemy of humanity. The risk was too big because they were unsure of the potential results, even though this didn’t have to happen. After all, as the manga proved, Tengen were able to preserve their reason even without the merging. Nonetheless, they became more of a curse than a human.

As the best barrier constructor in the jujutsu community, Master Tengen also possesses outstanding defensive skills. In fact, they are more powerful than even Kenjaku, who is infamous for his capacity to build barriers.

Tengen is one of the most powerful characters in the entire series because of this, which they combine with their apparent abundance of cursed energy. Tengen was able to match Kenjaku’s barriers and techniques with their own, but tragically, this wasn’t good enough in the end.

Master Tengen are unquestionably powerful but lacks fighting skills, which is a big drawback. They only ever use their powers to maintain themselves and build barriers; they never use them to engage in actual combat, making them an easy target for exceptionally strong foes.

They are nonetheless incredibly observant and tactically astute, so they constantly request the protection of powerful jujutsu sorcerers. Tengen’s evolved may be a formidable fighter, but we can’t comment on it because we haven’t seen it in the series.

Master Tengen are powerful, but Suguru Geto is a much better fighter

Well, now that we have presented the two characters to you, we assume that you might have already come to the same conclusion as we have: that Suguru Geto would defeat Master Tengen in a fight. Being a non-fighter, Master Tengen would have to rely on their barrier-making skills, but that simply wouldn’t be enough for them.

Their barriers are not impenetrable. Toji Fushiguro managed to penetrate them, and so did Kenjaku, which means that a jujutsu sorcerer as powerful as Suguru Geto could also penetrate them. Because of this, Master Tengen always requires strong fighters to defend them, but this is a one-on-one fight, so Geto and Tengen are alone.

Even in their evolved form, Tengen wouldn’t be a match for Geto, as in that form, they are closer to a curse than a human, and with Geto being a curse manipulator, this would actually be beneficial for Geto in a fight, and that is why Geto wins this one.
