Kenjaku and Sukuna are the most powerful and important villains in Jujutsu Kaisen. Like Sukuna, he has been around for millennia. He is still a threat, especially because of his ability to take over the corpses of powerful sorcerers, thereby gaining their powers and abilities. Kenjaku has Suguru Geto’s body and is rightfully one of the most formidable characters in the series. It remains to be seen how (or even if!) Kenjaku will be defeated, and in this article, we will bring you a list of the five characters most likely to defeat Kenjaku.

  • Article breakdown:
  • Kenjaku is a powerful jujutsu sorcerer who has been around for a millennium and is, alongside Sukuna, the biggest villain in Jujutsu Kaisen. His unnamed Innate Technique allows him to implant his own brain into any corpse, thereby taking over their memories and powers.
  • Kenjaku currently possesses Suguru Geto’s body, which is why he was initially known as Pseudo-Geto before his identity was revealed.
  • It is unknown who will defeat Kenjaku and how, but the most likely candidates could be Sukuna, Satoru Gojo, Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, or even Suguru Geto. This would make for an effective or natural conclusion to the story, but he might also die at someone else’s hands.

Who can defeat Kenjaku for good?

As we have stated, Kenjaku is one of the principal villains of the series. He is skilled, powerful, and dangerous, which is why defeating him is a top priority. Now, knowing Akutami and his odd ways of writing, it is impossible to tell who could end up killing Kenjaku. Still, we have decided to compose a list of the five characters who will most likely do it if Akutami opts for a natural or effective way to conclude Kenjaku’s story.

Still, considering what happened to Gojo and how Akutami apparently offed him in Chapter 236, we have to consider that Akutami won’t be opting for such an ending for Kenjaku, so we have to put a disclaimer here, stating that this is not an official list and that Akutami might end up using someone completely different than the ones we’ve put on our list.

This list was composed by considering the power balance between the characters in question, the narrative logic behind Kenjaku dying at the hands of each of these characters individually, the effectiveness of such a fight, and whether such an ending would be natural for the characters in question. Based on that, here is what we think, in order of likelihood:

1. Sukuna

Sukuna is, alongside Kenjaku, the most important villain in the series. He is, as we have said, an exceptionally important character, and we on Fiction Horizon have written about him on more than one occasion. Sukuna is, if Gojo’s death proves to be permanent, indeed, currently the strongest character in the series, and from an objective standpoint, he seems to be the only one who – at this moment in time – can defeat Kenjaku.

Would such a scene make sense? It definitely would, as an ultimate showdown between the two main villains would be a pretty effective way of wrapping up the story, especially if they end up killing each other for some reason, so the story will basically wrap up itself if that happens.

We have to be honest, though, that Sukuna would not have been our top pick two or three weeks ago, but the events of Chapter 236 changed things and if the status quo from that Chapter proves to be permanent, Akutami will certainly have to find a way to explain why Sukuna and Kenjaku would fight, seeing how their goals are somewhat aligned. It could be that Sukuna simply decides to get rid of Kenjaku, but that wouldn’t be overly impressive from a narrative standpoint.

2. Satoru Gojo

Satoru Gojo is a character we don’t really have to introduce. The teacher of both Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori, as well as Megumi and Nobara, he was supposed to be the strongest character in the series had he not suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Sukuna that apparently killed him. However, we still have to wait and see what happens there. Be that as it may, Gojo is a powerhouse, and under the condition that Akutami decides to bring him back, he is certainly a main candidate for killing Kenjaku.

This would be a very symbolic moment, especially because Kenjaku has Geto’s body, and on the outside, Gojo would have to fight his best friend and he would have to kill him. Again. On top of that, the two of them actually had a scheduled fight in the future, but that one is canceled for now.

Gojo killing Kenjaku would make the most sense and had Chapter 236 not happened, Gojo would have been our top pick, but nevertheless, despite Chapter 236, we still think that there could be a way of Gojo coming back to life and ultimately defeating Kenjaku, which is why he is our second pick here.

3. Yuji Itadori

Yuji Itadori is not a match for Kenjaku, but seeing how he is the nominal protagonist of the series, it makes sense that he, as a protagonist, gets his moment. Sure, you could argue that he should get his moment against Sukuna, but that seems to be impossible after Chapter 236, as Itadori is simply not strong enough to defeat him, so he could get his chance to shine against Kenjaku, possibly as part of a team.

We don’t really have any precise reason for this save for the fact that Yuji, as the protagonist, deserves a shot at the only villain left aside from Sukuna, so it would give Itadori a deserved ending to his hero story. However, we don’t really know how Akutami would explain it, but we’re looking forward to finding out if it happens like that.

4. Yuta Okkotsu

Everything we’ve said about Yuji can also be said about Yuta, as the original protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 certainly has an important role to play in the main series. On top of that, Yuta is more powerful than Yuji at the moment, and he can become even stronger, so he is a more likely candidate in that aspect.

On top of that, Yuta has a history with Suguru Geto, whose body Kenjaku has taken over. Although we know that Yuta would not be fighting the same character, the similarity is there. That is why we think that he is a less likely choice than Yuji, but knowing the current balance of power and the narrative status quo, Yuta is still more likely than most to finish Kenjaku off.

5. Suguru Geto

Now, this is a controversial one; we’re quite aware of it, but based on what we’ve seen in Shibuya and how Akutami has stretched the logic of his narrative far enough, this doesn’t seem like an unlikely ending to Kenjaku’s story.

We know that Geto was a villain originally. Still, seeing what Kenjaku did and what happened to Gojo, he might get enough strength to resist Kenjaku’s control over his body and fight it off for so long as to kill Kenjaku or to, at least give some other character a chance to kill the powerful villain. This would be quite effective from a narrative standpoint, and Geto has already proven that he can resist Kenjaku’s control to a certain degree.
