Shanks… everyone knows who Shanks is! He is a secondary character, but he is one of the most popular ones in the One Piece series. He is a legendary pirate and one of the strongest characters in the whole series, so it certainly makes sense that he is one of the most talked-about characters in the whole series. Shanks is exceptionally powerful, and in this article, we have decided to tell you about one of his specific powers – his Conqueror’s Haki. In this article, we will explain Shanks’ Conqueror’s Haki and what it can do in the series as a whole.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • The Conqueror’s Haki is the rarest form of Haki, as well as the most powerful one. It cannot be learned, and only one in a million people is born with it. It is said that these people have the qualities of a king.
  • Shanks is one of the characters who can use Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece, and he is exceptionally skilled and proficient.
  • He has used it on more than one occasion in the series, demonstrating that he can intimidate a Sea King, knock out multiple opponents at once, and even make his presence felt from large distances.

What is Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece?

Before we talk about Shanks, we think it would be good to go over what the Conqueror’s Haki is, which is what we will do in this section. So, the Conqueror’s Haki is one of the three types of Haki seen in One Piece. It is the most powerful and rarest form of Haki seen in the series; it is also known as the Royal Haki or the Haki of Kings, based on how you translate it.

It cannot be learned, and only one person in a million is born with this ability. Those who can use it possess the disposition of a king and stand above the masses. Precisely for this reason, those who possess this type of Haki are considered highly dangerous individuals, so much so that they cause a stir in individuals of the caliber of emperors or admirals of the Navy.

This type of Haki grants the power of intimidation. Those who use it can make people with low willpower lose consciousness, causing them to shiver all over their bodies before they pass out. Those inexperienced in controlling this power can make people faint without distinction, whether friends or enemies. At the same time, experts can precisely hit the desired targets without touching the people nearby.

Although this type of Haki cannot be trained directly, it can improve as it grows with the person’s spirit. Those who fully master this type of Haki can also cause physical damage to the surrounding world, as demonstrated when Shanks shows off his Haki by climbing onto Moby Dick. Furthermore, when two holders of this ability collide, they generate shock waves that hit the surrounding environment such as to displace everyone in the vicinity.

In the case of particularly powerful individuals, this clash can even manage to severely damage everything around them or even split the sky in two. Like Armament Haki, one can use this type of Haki to cover one’s body and weapons, but only a very few individuals are capable of doing so.

How powerful is Shanks’ Conqueror’s Haki?

Now that we have explained what the Conqueror’s Haki actually is, we can actually discuss Shank’s Conqueror’s Haki, which has been seen on more than one occasion in the series and which was proven to be one of the most powerful ones in the series. This is why we think that it has to be discussed, especially in light of the most recent events from Wano Country. So, here we go.

The first time he demonstrates this ability occurs during Luffy’s rescue, where he puts the Sea King who attacked Luffy, the Lord of the Coast, to flight. As Lord of the Coast was about to eat Luffy, Shanks simply looked at him, and that was enough for the beast to flee. Now, initially, this was not a demonstration of the Conqueror’s Haki, but Oda did a little retcon later in the series and changed the story, confirming that this was, indeed, Conqueror’s Haki.

During his meeting with Newgate, he managed to damage Moby Dick with it, and even the latter congratulated him on the high level of use of it; he was actually able to knock out Whitebeard’s whole crew with it. He knows how to use it to hit only who he wants, and his level with this power is such that if he had used it on Fish-Man Island instead of Luffy, he would probably have knocked out all one hundred thousand opponents instead of just fifty thousand. When he used it during the skirmish with Newgate, who was also capable of using it in the same way, the sky was torn in two.

Once he arrived in Wano Country, he even managed to make his presence felt by individuals who were at a very considerable distance from him, emanating the Conqueror’s Haki to a completely new level. Although he was nowhere near them, Luffy’s allies fighting against Ryokugyoku felt it, as well as the Admiral, and when he felt that Shanks was approaching, he simply retreated. This was an amazing demonstration of Shanks’ abilities with the Conqueror’s Haki, but even this is not his peak, as he has yet another trick up his sleeve.
