She-Hulk and Daredevil Romance: Their Relationship Explained

Episode 8 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finally allowed us to see the official MCU debut of Daredevil (not Matt Murdock) as he went to action against none other than She-Hulk herself. Of course, Jen learned Matt’s identity after defeating him in battle, and that led to them working together against a common enemy. Of course, the partnership turned into a steamy one as they ended up sleeping together, as the chemistry between the two was palpable. So, what is going on with Marvel’s She-Hulk and Daredevil, and did they ever date in the comics?

At this point, it looks like that was just a one-time-only thing between She-Hulk and Daredevil because of their separate careers in separate parts of the country. Meanwhile, in the comics, even though they’ve worked together several times, Jen and Matt never actually dated one another.

The She-Hulk and Daredevil romance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law seems to be something that was created just for the series, and that was probably due to the clear chemistry between the two superhero lawyers. Of course, at this point, anything can happen in relation to these characters and their romance because there is still a long way to go for both She-Hulk and Daredevil.

Are Jen And Matt Together In She-Hulk?

There were already clues related to the possibility of Daredevil making his first MCU appearance as the superhero and not the character in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, considering that Matt Murdock is a lawyer by trade. Of course, we’ve seen Matt before in Spider-Man: No Way Home but only as himself and not as his superhero counterpart. That said, episode 8 served as the debut of Daredevil himself. But before we get there, let’s talk more about the events that led to Daredevil’s appearance.

The episode opened up with a scene of Leap-Frog fighting criminals, only to get himself injured in the process because of what he claims to be a suit malfunction. This led him to Jen Walters, as he wanted to file a case against the one who created the suit—Luke Jacobson, who we all saw was the one who created Jen’s suits and dresses, as well as her superhero costume.

Luke blacklisted Jen upon learning that she would be working against him in this case, which went into the trial, as Jen lost her first case as a superhuman lawyer when Matt Murdock was the one who took on the job of defending the superhero suit designer. This happened because Matt’s impeccable senses were able to pick up the fact that Leapfrog, Eugene Patilio, used jet fuel for his suit even though the instructions said otherwise.

After the case, Matt found Jen drinking alone in a bar, and they had a great moment wherein Jen herself broke the fourth wall by admitting that she felt the clear connection between her and the blind lawyer. And that was the moment wherein Matt also told Jen that, as She-Hulk, she could do things that Jen can’t do in relation to the law.

But the moment had to get cut short due to an emergency that Matt had to attend to. Jen, who was contacted by Eugene while she was at home, also had to attend to an emergency, which happened to be Daredevil attacking Eugene. A fight between the two happened, and She-Hulk dominated Daredevil, who was forced to reveal his identity and why he was there. This led Jen and Matt to work together after Daredevil revealed that Eugene kidnapped Luke to force him to create a new suit for him.

Of course, the heroes won the day, as She-Hulk and Daredevil went to the rooftop to have a moment with one another there. The chemistry between Jen and Matt was palpable as they took this moment back to Jen’s apartment, where they slept together.

So, in short, the romance between the two was brought about by their clear connection with one another in the series, as they are the only two superheroes that actually work as lawyers during a good part of the day. But does that mean that She-Hulk and Daredevil are now a couple?

As of this moment, we aren’t really sure what to call this romantic relationship between She-Hulk and Daredevil. It is more than possible that it was only a one-time hook-up between the two, considering that Matt was only in Los Angeles for the Luke case and that he mostly operates in New York. And Jen knew that, considering that they both talked about their jobs as lawyers.

We don’t know if Daredevil will be staying until the end of the She-Hulk season or if he’s just a one-time-only gig in this series. And that means that we don’t know what to make of this romantic encounter between Jennifer Walters and Matt Murdock.

Did She-Hulk And Daredevil Ever Date In The Comics?

One of the things that made the romantic encounter between She-Hulk and Daredevil surprising for a lot of fans was the fact that there is no basis for this in the comics at all. We all know that the comic book counterparts of both Jen and Matt also work as lawyers, but in different areas of the law and for different people. And this led them to multiple interactions with one another in the comics.

However, all of those encounters with one another didn’t end up as steam as the one that we saw in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. They mostly met one another in big Marvel events that included all of the other superheroes. There was even a point wherein they actually squared off against one another at opposing sides of the court in relation to a case involving Captain America himself.

Other than that, there weren’t a lot of different encounters between the two characters in the comics, considering that they operated in entirely different areas of the world and were completely different in terms of the type of lives they lived.

What’s Next For The Romance Between Jen And Matt?

We know for certain that Matt Murdock is going to return to New York to assume a double life as Daredevil there while helping the people of Hell’s Kitchen both as a lawyer and as a superhero. Meanwhile, Jen Walters is in the middle of one of the most difficult moments in her life when she was forced to take action as an angry Hulk in the final moments of the episode.

There is also no doubt that Daredevil is going to get a new series in the form of Daredevil: Born Again, and that means that Marvel is going all-in on this character. In that regard, there is a good possibility that there will be another crossover moment between Jen and Matt in that series, just like how Daredevil had to cross over to Los Angeles for a moment with She-Hulk in episode 8.

So, in that regard, whatever is in the books for both Jen and Matt and their romance with one another is still up in the air. We don’t know whether or not this is something that’s going to be for the long haul or if it was just a one-time thing for both characters.
