‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Reportedly Skips the Doomsday Crossover Entirely, And Fans Have Thoughts

Marvel’s Phase Six slate has been built around an unusual mix of intimacy and spectacle, and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has spent months sitting right in the middle of that tension. Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker arrives only months before the studio’s next massive crossover event, and that proximity has fueled endless speculation about how tightly the two stories might be woven together.

For a while, that speculation only intensified. Early synopses floating around theater chains even suggested Peter’s journey would pick up only after the events of the bigger Avengers film, a detail that left fans scratching their heads given the films’ release order.

Now a new claim is cutting through the noise. According to a report shared online, insider Daniel RPK says ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has no narrative ties whatsoever to ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ framing the Spidey film as a fully self-contained story rather than a setup for the franchise’s next big team up. The account Cosmic Marvel shared the claim on social media, crediting RPK directly, and the post quickly spread among Marvel fans parsing what it means for Holland’s future in the franchise.

The timeline lends some credibility to the idea of a clean separation. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set in 2028, placing it before ‘Doomsday’ and within the gap established by the post credits scene of ‘Thunderbolts.’ That positions Holland’s film as the project currently furthest ahead on the MCU timeline at the time of its release, even as ‘Doomsday’ technically reaches theaters first.

There is also a leak making the rounds regarding the ending, suggesting Peter Parker simply misses his window to rejoin the Avengers in time for ‘Doomsday’ due to a major twist that leaves Spider-Man otherwise occupied. If accurate, that detail would explain how the film can stand entirely on its own without feeling disconnected from the wider universe. Early test screenings have reportedly drawn strong reactions, and fans following the marketing push have noted how deliberately the film has been positioned as a street level story rather than a crossover vehicle.

Destin Daniel Cretton directs the film, marking his return to Marvel after previously helming ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,’ and ‘Brand New Day’ also marks the final movie under Holland’s current contract with Sony and Marvel. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is currently scheduled for December 18, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ following roughly a year later. For a fanbase that has grown tired of every Marvel release feeling like mandatory homework for the next one, a Spider-Man story allowed to exist purely on its own terms is an easy pitch to root for.

Whether ‘Brand New Day’ truly delivers on that standalone promise becomes clear when it swings into theaters on July 31. Do you want Peter Parker kept away from the next Avengers showdown, or does skipping ‘Doomsday’ feel like a missed opportunity for this version of Spider-Man?
