Many interesting characters appear in SPY×FAMILY, and while the major focus has always been on the protagonist trio – Loid, Yor, and Anya – numerous side characters impacted the series and deserve some attention. One such character is the Leader of the Assassins, a character whom Leonardo Hapoon hired to coordinate the assassins he had hired to kill Olka and Gram Gretcher. He was an intriguing secondary villain, and in this article, we are going to tell you all about his story and what happened to him in the series. He was a one-arc character, so we don’t have much, but we are going to tell you what we know.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • The Assassin Leader is an unnamed elite assassin who was hired by Leonardo Hapoon to eliminate Olka and Gram Gretcher as they boarded the Princess Lorelei, and was a member of a larger group of assassins.
  • He was not only a member of this group, but he was also their unofficial leader, as he was in charge of coordinating their actions while on board the ship.
  • As for his skills, he possesses an enhanced sense of smell. He was close to Snoops and predicted that Snoops would “betray” them, joining him on board the raft, but it is assumed that both of them ended up being eaten by sharks.

The Assassin Leader is an enigmatic figure, and sadly, the series never revealed too much about him

To properly explain the role of the Assassin Leader in SPY×FAMILY, we have to provide you with an introduction, as the guy’s story is related to the main issue of the Cruise Adventure Arc, so to properly explain why he is so relevant, we have to give you a short intro.

The Gretchers, one of Ostania’s most important families, are the focus of this backstory. Olka Gretcher was in charge of providing smuggled food to the people on Ostania’s streets; her father and family handled the Underworld in an honorable manner generally. Despite her family’s excellent leadership of the Underworld, her father and brothers were slaughtered in an internal conflict.

This eventually resulted in a shift of leadership, with Leonard Hapoon taking over and proclaiming his plan to eliminate the Gretcher family. A bounty was soon placed on Olka and her young son, Gram. This was the reason Olka had to depart with her son, although it was difficult because assassins were around. And that concludes our introduction. Specifically, we have investigated the essential background information and can now proceed with the story as it occurred in the present.

RELATED:

So, when Hapoon found out that Olka and Gram were leaving on the Princess Lorelei, he hired a group of assassins with the task of eliminating them. Although the assassins were basically standalone contractors, they were still organized in a loosely connected group that was coordinated by a mysterious guy known as the Assassin Leader.

He was a man in his 30s or 40s, and that is all we can say about him, as no personal information had been revealed. We know that Hapoon hired him to coordinate the other assassins, although he did not have much control over them, as you might assume. He did coordinate them, and he did ultimately advise them to work together. Still, there was nothing he could do when one of them went astray, such as when Barnaby did it, which ended in him being defeated by Yor in front of anyone, as Anye helped her maintain the illusion that it had all been an organized act.

The Assassin Leader’s only known power is his enhanced sense of smell, but as we could see, that wasn’t useful to him as he did not kill Olka and Gram; he was also closely working with Snoops, unlike the other assassins. So, how did his story end? Well, it is connected to Snoops’ story, so you are going to find out what happened to both of them here.

Snoops emerged from his hiding location when he realized that the original plan had failed and ultimately opted to plant bombs on the ship. He made the bombs appear to originate from the West, knowing that this could lead to another war between them. He intended to detonate the bombs, sink the ship, and kill Olka and everyone else while fleeing on a raft. And he did just that. He planted the bombs, rationed himself, and boarded a raft to flee and watch the fireworks from a safe distance. The Assassin Leader, on the other hand, escaped and confronted him about his activities.

Snoops admitted everything and explained his plan, claiming that Hapoon would probably appreciate the potential war that could arise. The leader wanted to go with him, but Snoops had rations for only one person, and the two fought. Suddenly, a bomb was thrown from the ship and, as it exploded, knocked the two out of the raft into the ocean, where sharks immediately surrounded them. Their fate is officially unknown, but it is assumed that the sharks killed both of them.
