‘The Penguin’ is a American limited television series created by Lauren LeFranc for HBO Max. It’s a spin-off from the 2022 film “The Batman,” focusing on the character Penguin’s ascent to power in Gotham City’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell reprises his role as the Penguin from the film, with Cristin Milioti also starring. Development started in September 2021, with HBO Max ordering the series shortly after the film’s release in March 2022. Craig Zobel directed the first three episodes, with filming starting in March 2023, temporarily halted by a Writers Guild of America strike in June 2023, and ultimately wrapping up in February 2024.
