Smilegate and Amazon’s Lost Ark has seen a ton of amazing content to date, and its April update was certainly hefty, including a brand new continent and class. With new activities and challenges, players are eager to learn how to obtain and use Tokens of Protection to acquire some sweet rewards, but it may not be as simple as many have hoped.
Tokens of Protection serve as entry tickets to the Chaos Line Event, an endgame dungeon activity restricted to high-tiered players. Players must complete the Guide Quest named ‘Become a Member of the Knights’ to unlock the weekly ‘I Must Protect’ Roster Quest, which rewards 2 Tokens of Protection upon each completion.
While acquiring Tokens of Protection can be pretty straightforward, it will require some additional objectives and missions at the beginning – which can leave players feeling slightly perplexed. Stick around to find out why Tokens of Protection are important in Lost Ark, as well as how to obtain them in-game.
What Are Tokens of Protection Used For?
Tokens of Protection serve as entry tickets to the Chaos Line Event, a challenging activity brought by the recent addition of the South Vern continent. The activity itself is restricted to high-tiered players, making it rather difficult to access, to begin with.
In line with the challenge levels, the South Vern continent is classified as endgame content, as players will only be able to access the area once they hit item level 1340. According to players within the community, the Chaos Line activity is somewhat similar to the quest and dungeon found on Anguished Isle, apart from the fact that these are weekly activities.
That being said, players will need specific levels and requirements to participate in the Chaos Line activities, irrespective of their chosen difficulty level. The dungeon activity is only available for completion once a week, and Tokens of Protection are necessary irrespective of the difficulty level.
Players of Tier 3 endgame content can only complete each Chaos Line Dungeon instance with a single character. You will need the following equipped item level requirements to participate for each difficulty level:
Chaos Line Event Dungeon Level | Equipped Item Level Requirement |
Normal Mode | Lvl. 1370 |
Hard Mode | Lvl. 1415 |
The Chaos Line event involves a short quest before entry to the dungeon, and the process can be fairly straightforward if you’ve already reached the relevant endgame phase. How To Get Tokens of Protection In Lost Ark
Since South Vern is an integral aspect of the Chaos Line Event, players who want to participate will need to complete the South Vern main content first. Only then will players be granted access to the Chaos Line Event quest and activities, but many players have been finding the process quite tricky.
Players can acquire 2 free Tokens of Protection (weekly), which can be obtained by completing the weekly quest named ‘I Must Protect’. But, players will need to unlock Professor Farhat’s services before being able to acquire them and gain the Tokens of Protection.
Unlock The ‘I Must Protect’ Roster Quest
First off, players will need to complete all of the newly added content for South Vern, which can take approximately 1 to 2 hours on average. Players can obtain a free Token of Protection by traveling to Vern Castle in North Vern and speaking with Magick Scholar Jeneca, who acts as the Chaos Dungeon Shard Exchange.
Jeneca will give players a Guide Quest (purple quest) named ‘Become a Member of the Knights’. After this point, players can fast travel to the West Plaza of South Vern in order to speak with Professor Farhat, as seen above. While completing the ‘Become a Member of the Knights’ quest, Professor Farhat will ask players to briefly examine the portal entrance of the Chaos Line Dungeon.
In order to examine the portal, simply head to the orange circle nearby, and return back to Professor Farhat in order to continue the dialogue. Once the conversation comes to an end, the ‘Become a Member of the Knights’ quest will be complete, and players will be rewarded with 2 free Tokens of Protection in order to enter the Chaos Line Dungeon.
In addition, completing this quest will unlock a new weekly quest named ‘I Must Protect’. This quest is repeatable, requiring Lost Ark players to slay demons within the North Downtown area of Bellion Ruins in exchange for an additional 2 Tokens of Protection upon each weekly completion.
As a result, players will be able to try out the Chaos Line Dungeon twice a week using this method. Below is a step-by-step rundown on how to obtain the first 2 free Tokens of Protection in Lost Ark, and unlock ‘I Must Protect’ for a further 2 free Tokens of Protection each week:
- Complete the South Vern main content.
- Travel to Vern Castle in North Vern.
- Speak with Magick Scholar Jeneca.
- Accept the Guide Quest (purple quest) named ‘Become a Member of the Knights’.
- Fast travel to the West Plaza of South Vern.
- Speak with Professor Farhat.
- Examine the portal entrance of the Chaos Line Dungeon by standing in the orange circle nearby.
- Return to Professor Farhat in order to continue the dialogue and complete ‘Become a Member of the Knights’.
- Players will be rewarded with 2 free Tokens of Protection.
- A new weekly quest named ‘I Must Protect’ will be unlocked, which requires players to slay demons within the North Downtown area of Bellion Ruins in exchange for an additional 2 Tokens of Protection each week.
Problems With Unlocking ‘I Must Protect’
Some players have reported issues with this process, as the NPCs may not always appear or the Roster Quest may not be received as it should. If you’re experiencing such issues, a Roster Quest can be picked up at Neria’s Tavern, which can be finished off before traveling back to Jeneca at the Military District. Hopefully, this should trigger the quest by that point.
How To Use Tokens of Protection
While players can acquire up to 2 free Tokens of Protection each week, participating in the Chaos Line activity will only require 1 Token of Protection. Once you have obtained at least one Token of Protection, you can head to the dungeon’s entrance and input your Tokens of Protection to enter, as seen below.
Using the Token of Protection, players will be able to enter the dungeon and clear out all of the monsters – keeping Roster Quest objectives in mind as well. Players will need to acquire the Soundstone while defeating enemies in the Chaos Line in order to progress with the Roster Quest.
Although obtaining Tokens of Protection can feel complex, the method is rather straightforward once you have completed South Vern’s main storyline. Players can obtain 2 Tokens of Protection each week by completing the ‘I Must Protect’ quest, enabling them to have two shots at the Chaos Line Dungeon each week.
