Jujutsu Kaisen: Can Gojo Fly?

As far as Satoru Gojo is concerned, he is by far the most popular and often-discussed character from Jujutsu Kaisen, despite not being the series’ protagonist. Still, in a rare twist in the world of anime, the series’ most powerful character is seen from the beginning, and he is an ally of the protagonists, which makes him even more popular. And while there are numerous aspects we can discuss when Gojo is concerned, in this article, we will focus on one of his powers that was seemingly shown in the most recent episode of the anime. Namely, in this article, you will find out the answer to the following question – can Satoru Gojo fly?

No, Satoru Gojo does not have the ability to fly per se, as this is not one of the abilities seen in Jujutsu Kaisen in characters that do not have wings or are not creatures that can usually fly (e.g., dragons). But Gojo, like many other skilled jujutsu sorcerers, can manipulate his jujutsu and cursed energy to levitate and fight and/or more like that. So, just like he is able to move quickly or have amazing reflexes, he is also able to levitate above the ground, but he cannot actually fly.

As you might assume, the rest of this article will focus on Gojo’s powers and abilities as we will dig deeper into what this guy can do. We will explain his ability to seemingly fly and put it into context as far as his other powers and abilities are concerned, meaning that this article will be centered solely on Gojo and his skills. First of all, allows us to tell you what actually inspired this article. Namely, in the fourth part of the “Hidden Inventory” mini-arc (which is Gojo’s Past Arc, actually), we saw Gojo fight Toji and finally win against the intriguing villain. Now, when Gojo initially came in front of Toji, he was on the ground, but soon after, he was up in the air, and throughout the whole fight, he remained there, which is what motivated this article, as we couldn’t but wonder whether this fight proved that Gojo could fly or not.

Now, before we give a proper answer, let us first tell you about Gojo’s powers in general. Gojo’s cursed technique (Jujutsu) is known as the Infinite Curse Technique. It is an inherited technique among the members of the Gojo Clan. It has a series of forms, and based on these forms, it rises in level, allowing the precise manipulation of space at the atomic level, giving multiple results and subsequent techniques within the general capacity.

As a fundamental level of the technique, the manipulation of space, it has three standard forms and one “non-standard” that extends beyond the boundless. He is physically quite strong, which makes him stand out in close-quarters battles, although his preferred method of assault is usually from a distance.

He can effortlessly apply force to others, rip off limbs, and toss opponents a distance of many meters with a few punches. Due to his strength, he can easily deal with curses, even those of a very severe nature, and he can severely injure his opponents with strong punches.

He demonstrated the ability to move quicker than the human eye could see, and in his greatest display of speed, he left a fight and returned to the battlefield before his adversary even realized he had left. His reflexes, combined with his extraordinary speed, enable him to dodge attacks that threaten his life while doing so with little effort. When he’s subjected to his outbursts of madness, his speed and reflexes go to a level beyond logic. He can move through the space around him as if he were part of it.

As you can see, Satoru Gojo’s abilities are truly amazing, and he has a whole plethora of skills at his disposal, enabling him to rival the strongest characters, including Sukuna, with whom he is currently fighting one of the best battles in the history of manga. But while we have seen Gojo’s abilities in that aspect, what about his flight?

We cannot deny that Satoru Gojo was seen in the air, and it wasn’t a simple jump. He was actually moving through the air and staying in place, showing an ability that seemed a lot like flying, but we can, here, confirm that Gojo cannot actually fly.

Namely, he can move in the air, which cannot be denied, but it is not flying. Flying is not an ability that is easily given out in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, so only those characters who have wings or are creatures that can usually fly (like dragons, for example) have this ability.

On the other hand, Gojo has an ability that is more easily defined as levitation, which is actually a consequence of his mastery of jujutsu sorcery and cursed energy. Due to his ability to manipulate it in the most proficient way imaginable, he can also levitate himself, which is somewhat of an innate ability that comes with the trade.
