Choso is a powerful character from the Jujutsu Kaisen series and is the leader of the nine Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. He is, thus, a materialized cursed object and was initially introduced as a villain in the series who was associated with Kenjaku’s and Mahito’s group. Although he initially wanted to avenge his brothers by killing Yuji Itadori, his relationship with the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen proved to be an exceptionally important narrative detail that changed Choso’s whole story. At one point, Choso suspected that Itadori was his brother, and in this article, we will provide you with all the details related to the issue at hand.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Choso was initially introduced as a villain in Jujutsu Kaisen, as the leader of the three Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. His two siblings were killed by Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki, which is why he wanted to kill both of them, with Yuji being his primary target.
  • The two of them clashed in Shibuya, and Choso was able to defeat Yuji, but he ended up sparing his life because he had a vision that Yuji was his brother as well, just as he was about to kill him.
  • It turned out that Choso was right as both his father, Noritoshi Kamo, and Yuji’s mother, Kaori Itadori, were Kenjaku, so – technically – they have one shared parent.

Choso suspected that Itadori might be his brother after they fought, and that is why he did not kill him

Choso was first shown as a villain in the series. He is the oldest, the leader, and the most humanoid of the three Cursed Womb: Death Paintings (1-3) we’ve seen in the series early on. He is distant and stern, although he greatly loves his younger brothers. He has the same skill as Noritoshi Kamo, which gives him complete control over his blood and other attributes.

He has considerably more access to blood than Noritoshi did because he can create it right out of his cursed energy. He initially joined Mahito’s organization in Shibuya because he intended to exact revenge for his younger brothers’ murders.

This is why he had it in for Itadori, whom he wanted to confront and kill, and they ended up facing each other during the Shibuya Incident. So, what happened? Well, the two of them faced off, and it was a truly epic clash, but something happened then. Choso experienced a vision during the struggle, and as a result, he became sure that Yuji was one of his younger siblings.

Choso reasoned that the entity that had previously controlled the first Noritoshi Kamo must also have been responsible for the boy’s birth. This was crucial because, as we’ve already mentioned, Choso was once Yuji’s adversary. After all, Yuji and Nobara murdered Choso’s siblings.

This is significant because Choso was going to kill Yuji after defeating him when he received the vision that caused him to turn around and save his life. This is the vision we spoke about before; as a result of that vision, Choso was convinced that Yuji was his sibling. Choso, a brotherly figure protective by nature, naturally switches sides and decides to spare Yuji and soon join him completely to shield him from danger.

So, we now know why Choso thought that Yuji was his brother. But was he correct in thinking this? Or was it just a misconception on his side? Well… let us see that as well.

It turns out that Choso and Itadori are indeed related, but the story is as morbid as these things get

The relationship between Choso and Yuji Itadori is a complex one. Still, we can confirm that the two of them are siblings, half-brothers to be precise, but the story of how this came to be true is very morbid and shows just how twisted of a villain Kenjaku is.

Namely, we know that Noritoshi Kamo’s warped experiments on their mother resulted in the birth of Choso and his siblings. Rather than anything else, this was more like torture, yet some 150 years ago, Choso and his siblings resulted from these heinous experiments. On the other side, Yuji Itadori’s parents, Jin and Kaori Itadori, gave birth to him 15 years ago. So, how does that make sense? Well, this is where things become complicated.

Namely, as we soon found out, it turns out that Yuji’s mother, Kaori Itadori, and Choso’s father, Noritoshi Kamo, are one and the same person. Right now, this makes even less sense. However, this is where the huge twist is revealed. In actuality, both of them were Kenjaku, a formidable ancient jujutsu sorcerer who serves as one of the series’ key antagonists and one of its main villains. Specifically, Kenjaku can take control of any corpse by implanting his own brain within the body.

When he does that, he entirely takes over all of that person’s abilities and memories. He can perfectly imitate them because of his ability to conceal his true identity while inside a body. We can confirm that Choso is Yuji Itadori’s half-brother since Kenjaku contributed to both of their births at various periods despite their differing ages, as he was both Noritoshi Kamo at one point and Kaori Itadori.

And that is the whole story, actually. Choso has a premonition that turned out to be correct, as they both had one identical parent. This is a very twisted combination, but it ultimately proves why Kenjaku is such a complex and devious villain and how his general plan is much more complex than anyone can properly comprehend. But yes, Choso was right, and this also explains why he ended up switching sides and becoming an ally of the protagonists rather than simply Kenjaku’s lackey.
