Classroom of the Elite: 5 Things To Know about Akane Tachibana

As we usually do with popular anime series, we have been covering the third season of Classroom of the Elite here on Fiction Horizon and have also been talking about some other concepts and characters from the series while – at the same time – answering some burning questions. This article is going to be dedicated to a specific character, as we are going to tell you her story and her importance for the series. The character in question is Akane Tachibana, a very interesting character from the school with a very thrilling and intriguing story. Her fate in the series has been one of the more interesting questions, so we have decided to tell you her story and reveal all you need to know.
Fact #1: Akane Tachibana was a friendly girl
As far as Akane’s personality is concerned, she has always been described as a very friendly and kind girl. She was a supporting character in the series, so she never had that much time in the spotlight, and that generally means that the character doesn’t have any major problems with anyone in the world of Classroom of the Elite. Some fans might call her a boring character, but she was simply true to herself. She was not evil or wicked in any way, and her always smiling, always cheerful personality is something that we will definitely remember when talking about her. In that aspect, she is one of the more positive characters from the series and one of the more likable ones overall. Still, she did have some authority and could be serious, so when she talked for real, everyone kept silent and listened to her.
Fact #2: She was a member of the Student Council and Class 3-A
As for her role in the story, we have said that Akane Tachibana never had a major role in Classroom of the Elite, but she was an important member of the Advanced Nurturing High School. As a member of Class 3-A, she had some seniority and enjoyed the respect of her younger colleagues, as she was their senpai in a way. On top of that, Akane Tachibana was a member of the Student Council, a powerful and influential organization we have already written about, which also provided her with a certain degree of authority in the series. Sure, Akane did not abuse her powers nor was she a feared member of the Council, but this is an important fact about her that explains her exact position in the unofficial hierarchy of the students in the school.
Fact #3: She was in love with Manabu Horikita
Due to the fact that Akane was never a major character herself, most people will know her in the context of her relationship with Manabu Horikita, who was her colleague from class and the Student Council. Akane admired Manabu. She liked how authoritative he was, how his mind worked, and how smart he was. She liked to hang out with him, and she wanted to be by his side. At one point, it became obvious that this admiration was far more intimate and deeper than it seemed, i.e., that she was in love with Manabu. But, their relationship wasn’t really like that, as Manabu considered her to be his subordinate and did not return her feelings at the time. She was also sometimes intimidated by his rationality and knew her place as his subordinate, which was a very sad outcome that speaks more about Manabu and his personality, than about Akane.
Fact #4: She was almost expelled during the Mixed Training Camp Event
The only major moment that Akane Tachibana had in the series was during the Mixed Training Camp event, which was, if you remember correctly, one of the special tests organized by the school. The pupils were mixed up and organized into male and female groups, and Akane Tachibana ended up in the female group which also included Ikari Momoko. Now, sadly, we don’t have too much information for you in this aspect, but we can confirm that Akane did not do all too well in this exam.
Namely, as it turned out, Ikari Momoko’s group ended up being the last among the girls’ group, which means that those who were held responsible for the failure would get expelled. In this case, it was Ikari Momoko, but also Akane Tachibana, who was considered to be the joint-responsible student for the failure of the whole group, as it was Tachibana who supposedly dragged the group down. This means that Tachibana was facing expulsion months before her graduation. Of course, the school allowed her class to save her from being expelled at the cost of 20 million private points and 300 class points. Her class ultimately decided to save her, and she was able to graduate.
Fact #5: She left the series because she graduated
The last fact we wanted to talk about is Akane’s absence from the series in the 2nd Year arc, the sequel to the original series. We know that she was almost expelled, but she is not in the school anymore and she is listed as being an inactive character. So, what happened? Was she expelled in the end? No… she was not and her absence can be explained with relative ease. Namely, she was in her final year in the school and when she managed to “survive” her expulsion (see above), she only had a few months of school left. It is assumed that she graduated normally together with her class, and that fact actually explains why she is not present in the sequel series and why she is listed as being inactive.
