Classroom of the Elite: Top 8 Female Characters Ranked by Popularity and Importance
Classroom of the Elite is an exceptionally popular work that much cannot be denied. The series is currently in its second major light novel saga, while the anime just wrapped up its third season; there is also a manga currently being published. The story focuses on the events within the Advanced Nurturing High School in Japan, a special school for gifted children, and follows the “adventures” and intrigues of Kiyotaka Ayanokoji and his schoolmates.
While Ayanokoji is the series’ most popular character, this article will be dedicated to the intriguing female characters of the series, as we are going to list the eight most popular female characters from Classroom of the Elite. We are going to rank them from 8th to 1st place based on their overall popularity and their importance for the story. Each name on the list will be accompanied by a short paragraph in which we are going to tell you who the character in question is and why we have decided to put her on the list. Enjoy!
8. Sae Chabashira
We actually decided to start off this list with a teacher, the only one on it. Sae Chabashira might not have the screen time or the overall popularity of the female students, but she is nevertheless a very important and very intriguing character. There is a lot to her story, and her overall influence on the plot is really not insignificant, so we wanted to give her the respect that she deserves. And that is why we started off this list with her.
7. Maya Satō
Maya Satō is, without a doubt, a very interesting figure in more ways than one. While she never played a major role in the school intrigues, her role in the story is definitely important, especially because her story is closely connected to that of both Kei Karuizawa and Kiyotaka Ayanokoji. She is a friendly and very nice girl, but she has the habit of falling in love with boys who impress her in one way or another. She can also be a tease at times, but she is not a bad person. Her story is definitely interesting and worth the attention, which is why we have placed her on this list.
6. Airi Sakura
Airi Sakura definitely has one of the saddest and most unfair stories in the whole series. She was an exceptionally kind and gentle person, somewhat naive and idealistic, but an overall great person and loyal friend. What happened to her in the story is simply unfair and while the fact that she has, despite everything, remained as one of the series’ most popular characters is somewhat of a consolation, we still think that she definitely deserves another shot in the series and that is why she is on this list.
5. Kikyō Kushida
Kikyō Kushida is one of the most controversial characters on this list, but that is what actually makes her so interesting and why she made the cut in the end. Seemingly friendly and nice to everyone, Kushida is actually a very mean and self-centered person who won’t shy away from hurting others for her own benefit. There are many layers to her, and while she could be described as an antagonist in the series, she has a lot of depth and that is why we decided to put her on this list, as we really think that she deserves it.
4. Honami Ichinose
Honami is a very popular character in more ways than one. The fans like her because of her personality, but she is also very popular in-universe due to her personality and her ambition. She is also one of the most beautiful girls in the whole school. The leader of Class 1-B, Honami is very loyal to her classmates and seeks to protect them whenever she can. And while she might seem weak and more beautiful than anything else, she has proven on more than one occasion that she is much more than that, which is why we placed her so high on our list.
3. Arisu Sakayanagi
While Arisu Sakayanagi might seem frail and innocent, she is basically the major “antagonist” of the first year; she is not a bad person per se, but she is aware of her superiority and is not afraid of using it for her own benefit. She has a steady rivalry with Ayanokoji, and the battle of wits between them is one of the best aspects of the first year. Still, Arisu is a very honorable person, somewhat vindictive, and very intriguing, as well as popular. The reason why we placed her so high up on the list is her importance, as she is one of the series’ most important characters overall.
2. Kei Karuizawa
Kei is a somewhat strange character in the sense that there are many reasons to both love and hate her as a character. She is definitely intriguing, and there is a lot of depth in her story, but she is sometimes too trope-y, and that can be annoying. Still, she has managed to show that she had something in her, and while she definitely wouldn’t have been ranked so high were she not Ayanokoji’s girlfriend, she nevertheless earned a place on this list, that goes without saying.
1. Suzune Horikita
We’re not sure that everyone will agree with our decision, but we just think that Suzune Horikita is the heart and soul of this series. She was the first major female character to make an impact in the series, and her alliance with Kiyotaka has often been the most interesting thing in the light novels. She is a layered and complex character with an interesting personality and we definitely think that she surpasses all the other female characters in that aspect. She is the female equal to Kiyotaka, and we simply wanted to pay our respects to her as a character.
