Demon Slayer: What Does Zenitsu Dream About?

Zenitsu Agatsuma is one of the most intriguing characters in the whole Demon Slayer series. Seemingly a coward, Zenitsu has actually proven himself to be a very capable and powerful Demon Slayer, but also a troubled one, as he feels constant guilt for not being able to stop his master from committing suicide. The events from his past had a very clear influence on his personality, and in this article, we will explore his personality, but not this aspect, not the troubled one. In this article, we will show you Zenitsu as a dreamer, both literally and symbolically, as we will tell you what Zenitsu dreamed about on the Infinity Train when everyone was put to sleep by Enmu.
Zenitsu Agatsuma dreamed about having a date with Nezuko Kamado, whom he fancied even though she was a Demon. It was a very romantic and idealistic date in a peach orchard that showed them both happy, with Zenitsu being much braver than usual. Eventually, Zenitsu would, indeed, go on to marry Nezuko and have a family with her.
The rest of this article is going to give you all the details about the relationship between Nezuko and Zenitsu, focusing especially on how it is reflected through Zenitsu’s dream on the Infinity Train. You’re going to find out how the relationship started, evolved, and ended. We’re also going to tell you a bit about the personalities of Zenitsu and Nezuko so that you can see whether they are compatible.
Zenitsu had a dream(y) date with Nezuko
Before we start off, take a look at this video:
After Enma assaulted the Infinity Train and put everyone on it to sleep, Zenitsu had a very lovely dream. He was in an idealistic peach orchard (the peach is quite symbolic in Zenitsu’s case) with none other than Nezuko, the protagonist’s sister. In this dream, Nezuko was not a Demon, and she was quite happy to spend his time with Zenitsu, who was also quite overjoyed.
At one point, Zenitsu offers to carry Nezuko all the way and jump across the river so that she does not get wet – not even her toes, as Zenitsu said. And that happens. Although Nezuko is a bit confused, she accepts, and the two of them are seen – happy and in love – during the remainder of the dream.
Now, in order to fully understand just why this dream is so idealistic, you have to understand Zenitsu’s personality. Zenitsu is introduced to the series as a huge coward who constantly complains that his time in this world is running short because he is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, which he considers to be such a dangerous job.
Zenitsu, despite his incredible strength, has a very low sense of self and finds it hard to believe he killed a devil. Instead, he thought it was Shoichi, who was too young and unable to kill a devil. Zenitsu constantly cries and tries to flee when she sees danger since he is so terrified. He asserts that he prefers to lead a quiet, regular life to that of a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. And while he does get stronger and more courageous later on, he was – basically all the time – known as a coward.
Also, as a result of not wanting to be alone if he were to die, Zenitsu is also shown to believe he is a womanizer. He frequently irritates the females by pushing his cuteness onto them and asking them to marry him. His amusing disposition disappears when he believes his friends are “flirting” with a cute girl. He then cries out inconsolably and grips about it. In his rage, he even goes so far as to strike them.
As you can see, Zenitsu is quite a layered character. Initially, he was introduced as a failed “womanizer” and a major coward. Still, as the series progresses, while he does remain a failed “womanizer” and a major coward, layers are added to these traits. Zenitsu becomes a much more intriguing character than just the two-dimensional chicken we’ve seen when we first met him.
Zenitsu and Nezuko did end up together
Now, while Zenitsu did flirt with almost every beautiful girl in the series – and failed miserably each time – he really did like Nezuko, and this dream was not so much about a single date but about a happy future where he and Nezuko were a couple. And this is why this dream was much more than just a dream than just a simple one-off projection of Zenitsu’s desires – it was a reflection of his feelings towards Nezuko and a future where a better version of himself would be able to make Nezuko happy. And this was a pattern ever since they met for the first time.
When Zenitsu first sees Nezuko, he instantly falls in love with her. She doesn’t seem to share Zenitsu’s feelings initially, calling him a “weird dandelion” instead. Zenitsu shows her love and care even though they are rarely seen together. When Zenitsu learns that Tanjirō (and indirectly Nezuko) were in Spider Family territory, he musters the strength to ascend Natagumo Mountain to defend Nezuko.
Zenitsu used to sit next to her box during their rehabilitation training and smother her with tales about Tanjirō and their exercises. Nezuko frequently reacted by shifting and scuffing her box, indicating that she liked hearing Zenitsu’s stories. As Nezuko transitions back to humanity, she starts to recall her time as a demon, especially a memory of Zenitsu giving her flowers, which may signify that she has a favorable opinion of him.
She was first concerned that he would ask her to be his wife, but eventually, the three of them—along with Inosuke and Tanjirō—came to live together, got engaged, and had a family that would eventually produce great-grandchildren in the present.
