Does Asta Become Wizard King in Black Clover?

We all know that Asta is the protagonist of Black Clover. Asta is a truly well-written character but aside from being very powerful, Asta is also unique to the world of Black Clover. We have already discussed Asta’s powers and demonic abilities in some of our earlier articles, which is why this article is going to talk about a different aspect of Asta’s character. Namely, we are going to talk about the possibility of Asta becoming the Wizard King in Black Clover.

At this moment, it is not known – officially, at least – whether Asta is going to become the Wizard King in Black Clover. We do know that the manga is nearing its end, but there is still a lot to go, and we do not know how Tabata plans to conclude Asta’s story, but knowing how shonen manga usually work, it is quite possible that Asta will become the Wizard King sometime in the future.

The rest of this article is going to focus on Asta’s future in the Black Clover series. We are going to tell you about the possibility of him becoming the new Wizard King, as well as about the title of Wizard King in general. We are also going to answer some additional questions related to this topic. There are going to be some spoilers present in the article, so be careful how you approach it.

Explaining the title of Wizard King

The Clover Kingdom’s most potent Magic Knight is known as the Wizard King. The holder of the rank also serves as the Order of Magic Knights’ leader. The 28th and current Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom is Julius Novachrono. The Wizard King moniker was first used to refer to Prince Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, a wizard who saved mankind from a huge demon. In the Clover Kingdom, the title has been handed down through the ages.

This evolved into a title designating its possessor as the most powerful magician in the entire Kingdom. The holder of the title is also acknowledged as the head of the Magic Knight Order in the Kingdom. The Wizard King plays a significant role in the military operations of the Clover Kingdom because he is the commander of its Magic Knights. As a result, the Wizard King possesses the same level of military power as the ruler of the Clover Kingdom. He must coordinate the Magic Knights’ movements and actions as part of his duties as the Wizard King, which include keeping the Kingdom safe.

This could involve giving the Knights duties to complete or showing up on the front lines to protect the Kingdom from invaders. The quest to become the Wizard King is rewarding. This is thus because only one magician in every generation of Knights is allowed to use the title. The significance of the title does not, however, apply just to a particular class of Knights, such as those from noble families. Every Magic Knight from the Clover Kingdom can become the Wizard King, depending on their skills and abilities, so the title is not exclusive to members of a single family or small group.

This is due to the fact that merit is the only prerequisite for a Magic Knight to hold the title of Wizard King. A magician needs to be able to back up their claim to becoming the most powerful Knight in the Realm with a long list of accomplishments or credentials. Because of this, the rank of Wizard King is not exclusive and can be attained by any Knight, making it one of the five levels within the Magic Knights organization.

Is Asta going to become the next Wizard King?

Well, before we actually answer this, let us just quickly go over Asta’s powers and abilities to determine whether he is powerful enough to even be considered as a candidate for the position of Wizard King.

Asta initially had a rigid swordsmanship style due to his unconventional sword and the fact that he had only received basic training from Fanzell Kruger. Over time he has developed better skills through battle experience by fighting multiple opponents who used magic swords and witnessing their battles such as Licht, Yami, Mars, and Kiato, he has also managed to improve his skills with it thanks to additional swords and the perception of ki.

On the other hand, Asta has no mana and is unable to use magic. This allows him to use Anti-Magic without suffering its debilitating effects of it since he has no magic power that he can lose. This also makes him undetectable to people who sense the mana of others, and he is immune to the life-draining substance of the underworld.

Asta possesses a high level of physical strength, capable of performing a thousand push-ups with one hand. This strength allows him to hold heavy swords with one hand, as well as create holes in rock walls using only his fists without injuring himself. Asta can hold his swords with such force that his opponents go through rocks when hit by his weapons. The Queen of Witches further enhanced the strength of her arms using her blood magic.

Asta is also able to move at above-average speed, leading William Vengeance to believe that he has used magic to help himself. In addition to that, Asta possesses high durability, as seen when he is able to stand up, despite taking numerous attacks from Heath Grice. He is even able to get out of Licht’s collapse attempt relatively unscathed along with Yami. Asta possesses a heightened level of instinct, as shown when he subconsciously moves his body in the best way to defend himself.

The Ki that Asta uses is actually a principle originating from the place Yami comes from. It allows Asta to use his sixth sense to perceive and react to attacks and people that he cannot see. His exceptionally strong willpower further allows him to never give up, no matter how difficult or impossible the situation is. Even when he lost the use of both hands, he steadfastly refused to give up.

By facing the demon within him, Asta was able to overcome his temptation of him. Later, he even temporarily resisted the Witch Queen’s Blood Puppet’s control. His stubbornness is a great inspiration to the people around him, constantly pushing them beyond their own limits. Asta has also been shown to be incredibly charismatic, his actions and words routinely rallying his friends and allies in even the most desperate situations. He is also extremely eloquent, creating inspirational speeches and constantly turning his opponents’ words against them.

Despite his hyperactive and opinionated nature, Asta has been shown to be intelligent and thoughtful in his own right. He understands many situations he finds himself in and can be tactical when needed, such as removing curses with his swords and thinking of different tactics in battle. He has shown that he is a quick learner, such as when he quickly learned how to use ki from Yami’s instructions in the middle of a fight, as well as being able to discover the hidden powers of the Sword of Danma simply by watching its original owner’s fight.

Based on what we have written above, Asta definitely is worthy of the title of the Wizard King; if you want to argue that he still isn’t ready, we can agree conditionally, but there is no doubt that his growth path is directed towards him becoming powerful enough to become the Wizard King. Based on what we know about shonen manga, it makes sense for Tabata to finish off his story in such a way. Asta has gone through a lot and will become the story’s hero, which is quite certain, which will, of course, give him enough credibility to become the new Wizard King, and that would be a very natural end to the story, and a very expected one.

This is how shonen manga usually end unless the author is planning a sequel, but that is something we don’t know yet. Julius Novachrono is probably going to die by the end of the manga, as has been speculated by fans, and there are a lot of theories concerning his death, which is why his death might be used as a way for Asta to succeed him. Now, this is all pure speculation and Tabata might decide to take a completely different turn, but that is something that we will have to wait and see, but our theory seems to be quite likely. As we have said, Black Clover is slowly approaching its end and the manga is going to be over relatively soon if we live through all the hiatuses that are still to happen. This means that we are going to be proven right or wrong quite soon.
