Frieren: Lügner’s Blood Magic and Its Powers Explained!
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a manga and anime series currently among the most popular anime airing. Written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a truly lovely fantasy series with great characters, and in this article, we will discuss one secondary villain that appeared recently in the anime. The character in question is a demon called Lügner, and in this article, you will find out more about his special powers. Lügner has not been involved in much fighting so far, but we have seen a glimpse of what he can do, and in this article, we will reveal what you need to know about him and his powers.
Lügner’s ability is called Blood Manipulation
Lügner has a secondary but very important role in the series. Namely, he first appears as the noble-looking, blonde-haired demon who is the leader of a group of three demons, consisting of him, Linie, and Draht, that Aura the Guillotine sent to negotiate a peace treaty with Graf Granat in his town (btw, in German, the word “Lügner” means “liar,” so you can deduce a lot about him from just that).
Of course, that was all a ruse, as Lügner never had the intention of forging an actual peace with Granat – he wanted to trick him into lowering the town’s defenses (created by Flamme herself) so that Aura and her army could burst in and destroy the town, killing everyone inside.
Frieren, of course, saw right through it, but she had no proof, so she was locked in for trying to assault Lügner even though Granat himself was very suspicious of him. After Frieren killed Draht in self-defense, Granat realized that Lügner was a villain and decided to face him, and that is when we first saw his powers, which were later also seen when he faced Stark and Fern.
So, Lügner’s ability is called Blood Manipulation, and as you can imagine, it allows Lügner to manipulate his blood. He doesn’t need to be cut properly, and he can use his blood like a weapon. He can determine its shape and state (whether it’s liquid or solid), he can form it however he wants, and he can use it for both offense and defense. We have seen him form it into a whip, a blade, and a giant clawed hand that he used to attack or deflect other attacks.
This is how powerful he is, and on top of that, he has a signature spell called Blood Manipulation: Balterie. This spell allows him to form several tendrils made out of blood, which he can then use as spears or arrow-like weapons, but also to defend Lügner from other spells and attacks. And this is just how powerful he is in that aspect and how formidable of an opponent he is.
But, aside from using it in battle, Lügner can also use his blood for healing. Namely, as we have seen, his left arm was blown away by Fern using a modified version of Zoltraak, and Lügner was crippled in that attack, but he did not die.
After Fern and Stark left, he used his blood to regenerate his hand, thus showing that he can use his Blood Manipulation for regenerative purposes as well. The blood becomes like a living weapon for him, and Lügner has demonstrated some amazing skills with this technique, which is why he was one of Aura’s most powerful underlings.
Of course, he knew he was not stronger than Frieren, as he remembered how powerful she was when she defeated him the first time many years ago, but he was still a very formidable and dangerous demon.
