How Did Boba Fett Get His Armor Back Before ‘The Book of Boba Fett’?

The Book of Boba Fett was a series that was essentially a spin-off to The Mandalorian as it explored Boba Fett’s story right after he appeared in season 2 of The Mandalorian. We know that he was strong enough to take down the Pyke Syndicate and defeat Cad Bane in The Book of Boba Fett, thanks to the Beskar Steel armor he became famous for. But how did Boba Fett get his armor back?

Boba Fett got his armor back by getting it from the unguarded Razor Crest when Din Djarin had to fend off Moff Gideon’s Stormtroopers on the planet of Tython. Because Boba helped Din beat the Stormtroopers and proved his status as a Mandalorian foundling, he was allowed to leave with the armor.

The fact that Boba Fett was able to retrieve his armor was the first step of his grand plan of taking Mos Espa, which used the be the territory of Jabba the Hutt back when he was still working for him. In that regard, Fett wanted to be the one to lead a family of people that he trusted, and that was the reason why it was important for him to get his armor back, as he couldn’t fight without it. Now, let’s look at how Boba Fett got his armor back.

What Happened to Boba Fett’s Armor?

One of the most iconic characters in the history of Star Wars is Boba Fett, who was introduced as a stoic yet cool bounty hunter in the events of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. And one of the reasons fans could connect with Boba Fett quickly was his armor, which allowed him to hang with some of the strongest characters in Star Wars.

Then again, Boba Fett seemingly died during the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. In Luke’s attempt to rescue Princess Leia and Han Solo, Fett fell into the Sarlacc pit and was seemingly eaten by the sand monster. As such, fans moved on thinking that he had been killed as far as the canon storyline is concerned.

But it was during the events of The Mandalorian season 2 that we saw Boba Fett alive and well, albeit without his armor. He was already an older man who happened to make a cameo appearance in The Mandalorian five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. But the one clear thing was that he didn’t have his armor. So, what happened to Boba Fett’s armor?

The fate of Boba Fett’s armor was explained extensively during The Book of Boba Fett, a series that follows Boba’s story after the events of season 2 of The Mandalorian. In The Book of Boba Fett, it was shown that Fett survived the Sarlacc pit by using his armor’s weapons as a way for him to force the creature into letting him go.

However, while lying on the sand, tired and beaten after his bout with the Sarlacc’s stomach acids, a group of Jawas saw him unconscious. They stole his armor, and a group of Tusken Raiders eventually found Boba Fett without it. Meanwhile, the Jawas ended up selling Boba Fett’s Beskar Steel armor to Cobb Vanth, who wanted to rid his town of scum that threatened the peace of his people. He became the martial of Mos Pelgo, which renamed itself Freetown.

After that, Din Djarin heard the news about a Mandalorian in Mos Pelgo in Tatooine. He found Cobb Vanth wearing the armor, but the martial refused to give it to Djarin, who demanded it from him because only Mandalorians were allowed to wear Beskar Steel armor. But they struck a deal that involved Din Djarin helping him, and the townspeople kill a massive Krayt Dragon in exchange for Boba Fett’s armor.

Din and the people of Mos Pelgo killed the Krayt Dragon that had been terrorizing them for a long time. Because of that, Vanth gave up the armor to Din Djarin, who took it with him while traveling the galaxy on his Razor Crest ship.

How Did Boba Fett Get His Armor Back?

While the loss of Boba Fett’s armor was shown during the events of The Book of Boba Fett, we know that he was able to recover this armor because he was seen wearing it during the events of his series. It was through his armor that Boba Fett was able to take over Mos Espa and become the new Daimyo of that region. But how did Boba Fett get his armor back?

During The Book of Boba Fett, Boba saved Fennec Shand from certain death after being shot by a bounty hunter in season 1 of The Mandalorian. Shand assisted Boba Fett in recovering his Firespray ship from Jabba the Hutt’s former base. And they used this ship to kill the Sarlacc that ate Fett, as Boba thought that the armor was inside its belly, considering that he didn’t know that Jawas stole his armor.

Eventually, he discovered that a group of Jawas stole his armor from him while he was asleep, allowing him to track the Jawas, who told him they had sold it to Vanth. But Cobb Vanth no longer had the armor, and Boba eventually tracked Din Djarin down because he found out that he was the one who owned it.

Din Djarin and Grogu went to Tython, a Force-rich planet with an ancient Jedi Temple that Grogu could use to contact other Jedi all over the galaxy. While Grogu was still meditating and using the force to get to the other Jedi, Boba Fett, and Fennec, Shand appeared to demand the armor return to him. But Din Djarin, unsure of Fett’s status as a Mandalorian, didn’t want to return the armor.

Eventually, cooler heads prevailed as they decided to discuss things without violence. But they couldn’t do so because Moff Gideon’s Stormtroopers arrived to kidnap Grogu. And while Din was fighting the Stormtroopers off, Boba used the opportunity to get to the Razor Crest and wear his armor.

Instead of running away, Boba Fett assisted Din Djarin in defeating the Stormtroopers. However, Gideon’s Dark Troopers successfully kidnap Grogu. After that, instead of demanding Boba Fett return the armor, he allowed him to go home with it because he discovered that Fett’s father, Jango Fett, was a Mandalorian foundling. By extension, Boba was also a Mandalorian with the right to wear Beskar Steel armor.

To repay Din Djarin for his kindness, Boba Fett assisted him in retrieving Grogu from Moff Gideon. And Din paid this kindness back by assisting Boba in defeating the Pyke Syndicate in Mos Espa during the events of The Book of Boba Fett.
