Is Naruto Stronger Than Madara? Here’s What We Think
Comparing Naruto characters’ strength is a feat because even the creators couldn’t decide how their characters would fare in power and strength. However, the fans took matters into their own hands and decided to use all kinds of proof and source material to propel their opinion on the matter. Uzumaki Naruto is the main character and hero of the Naruto series. His journey is fascinating, emotional, and absolutely mind-blowing, especially regarding his journey as a shinobi. On the other hand, Uchiha Madara is an absolute legend of the Ninja World, a man who was a friend and rival of Hashirama Senju, once thought of as a God of Shinobi. In this article, we will pit Naruto and Madara against each other and offer our opinion that Naruto is stronger than Madara.
Senjutsu
Also known as Sage Techniques, Senjutsu is a specialized field of jutsu that involves using natural energy. The wielders of the jutsu are called sage, who are essentially drawing natural energy to their bodies and mixing it with their chakra. The mix of sage chakra and natural energy is called senjutsu chakra, and when shinobi use it, they can use their techniques in special ways and enhance them to the point of essentially creating new ones. Nevertheless, to become a sage and for the shinobi to get to the point of activating Sage Mode, one needs to be very skilled.
Naruto learned from the best just before the Pain Assault arc, when Jiraiya got Naruto to the special location of Mount Myōboku, where he achieved complete Sage Mode that he later combined with Kurama chakra. Let’s just say that when Fourth Shinobi World War started, Naruto was considered quite experienced in Sage Mode, which is a great feat.
Toward the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Naruto could enter Sage of Six Paths Mode, wielding Truth-Seeking Balls and even flying – he was godlike then. On the other hand, Madara was never really prolific in that aspect (mostly because he didn’t need it). Still, during the Fourth Shinobi World War, Edo-Tensei Madara was surprisingly capable of mixing senjutsu chakra with his own and entering Sage Mode. He had never trained senjutsu, but his already vast experience, talent, and powerful chakra, provided him with fast learning of new jutsu and techniques, no matter how complicated they were.
However, despite Madara being a perfect shinobi who was extremely capable and intelligent, we have to give a point to Naruto. Young Uzumaki upgraded his Sage Mode multiple times during the war, and every time he did it, he would hurt Madara with more with each blow. Experience and training in Sage Mode prevail in this aspect, and Naruto gets the first point.

Ninjutsu
This category contains multiple parts of shinobi techniques, which include anything that doesn’t include genjutsu or taijutsu. This means that Fūinjutsu, Barrier ninjutsu, Juinjutsu, sensor type, shape, and nature transformation are all part of the ninjutsu definition. Let’s start with Naruto. The Gutsy Ninja, in his peak during Naruto Shippuden, was extremely powerful and skilled in multiple different parts of ninjutsu, especially shape and nature transformation.
We know that Naruto’s natural affinity is Wind Release, and towards the War, he mastered that part of ninjutsu extremely well, and it only upgraded with every new transformation mode. For example, his trademark technique is Rasengan, which he mastered better than his father, Minato Namikaze, and mentor, Jiraiya. Over time, Naruto developed various and larger versions of the technique, which only increased tenfold with using senjutsu or Kurama’s chakra.
His Wind Release: Rasengan could transform into Rasenshuriken or create two Rasenshuriken simultaneously. When he gained access to Hagoromo’s Six Paths Senjutsu, his techniques became even more powerful – Naruto’s Sage Art: Super Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken jutsu is considered as most impressive ninjutsu of all time. Young Uzumaki gained access to all five nature elements, which made his techniques more creative and powerful. Naruto is also prolific in Shadow Clone Technique, which he mastered almost to perfection, and with his insane chakra reserves, he could manage hundreds of shadow clones at once.
We could spend the whole article just listing Naruto’s techniques and ninjutsu, but we need to mention Madara and the legendary Uchiha. No one could match his nature transformation – maybe Naruto, Sasuke, and Hashirama back in the day. His prowess in ninjutsu isn’t even the hardest part of his arsenal, but even with only his ninjutsu, Madara was considered one of the strongest shinobi ever.
Madara could utilize all basic nature transformations, with Yin-Yang Release being developed later in his life. Fire Release is Madara’s strongest technique, but when he absorbed Hashirama’s DNA and accessed Wood Release, Hashirama was shocked at how skillful Madara was with it. He combined water and lightning-nature chakra to create energy beams cutting through Six Paths Rods. Because he was so experienced and talented, Madara had more techniques to present, and we saw it a lot in flashbacks and during the War. It would be silly to give the point of this category just to Naruto, so we will split the points in this section.

Chakra Prowess
Uzumaki Clan members are known to have strong life sources and chakra. Naruto is a special case because he is a jinchuuriki with a Nine-Tailed Beast inside. Naruto’s chakra was powerful even in his younger days, but until the War, his prowess and control improved immensely. For example, one of the biggest feats he achieved in Naruto Shippuden he transferred his chakra to hundreds of shinobi across the battlefield, who admitted they felt much stronger, warmer, and rejuvenated.
Naruto survived the extraction of Tailed Beast because of his Uzumaki strong life force that helped him heal faster, be more vital, and have more stamina. You could say that his chakra prowess transfers into physical power as well. It also helps that Naruto is a descendant of Asura, hence why his chakra reserves and power are so high.
On the other side, Madara Uchiha is in similar shoes as Naruto because the Uchiha inherited chakra from Indra; however, his chakra was seen as foul and evil. Uchiha Clan members were famous for having especially potent chakra quality, and with the talent of Madara, only the sky was the limit.
Edo-Tensei Madara, during the War, was insanely powerful, and his chakra power and control were elite, especially when he gained access to the Wood Release technique. Like Naruto, Madara could distribute his clones across the battlefield; in much fewer numbers, but they were so powerful that the Five Kage was struggling against them.
Moreover, Madara’s chakra was more important for his various kekkei genkai, Sharingan, and Rinnegan, regarded as the most powerful dōjutsu known to man, which we will mention later. For that, we will need to split points here.

Intelligence
This aspect of the combat is extremely important, and with Naruto, we saw an amazing journey of his becoming a capable and powerful shinobi, including the intelligence part of it. Naruto was always described as “silly and dumb” in the most endearing way possible, but when it came to his combat tactics, he learned from the best. Kakashi, Jiraiya, Asuma, and others taught Naruto well, and his ability to learn during battles improved immensely.
Despite the comedy of that moment, Naruto used his Sexy Jutsu technique to distract Kaguya and injure her, which only increased the chances of Team Seven winning against the goddess. Naruto is a knucklehead, but in the battle, he adapts extremely well, which is a really important thing in the end.
Madara was always hailed as a genius, a prodigy that only Hashirama could outmaneuver. His experience on the battlefield is extremely valuable, and the fact that both he and Hashirama fought all their youth and into their adult years gives him an edge over most opponents.
Madara is a certified genius who survived many years because of his intelligence and prowess. For that, we need to give the point to Madara.
Naruto 3 : (3) Madara
Kekkei Genkai
Now, this doesn’t seem fair to some people because Kekkei Genkai in the Naruto series are usually “busted,” The same goes for Madara and his clan’s Sharingan. This dōjutsu is one of the strongest kekkei genkai in the Naruto series, with only Rinnegan being the superior one at that point. Madara experienced every form of Sharingan, from basic to Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, with which he could summon the Complete Body – Susanoo.
When one can summon the gigantic, humanoid avatar made of the wielder’s chakra, well, in most cases, the game is over. Madara is the first Uchiha member known to a man who actually did it, but that’s not all.
When Madara absorbed Hashirama’s chakra, he accidentally mixed Indra’s and Asura’s chakra and awakened Rinnegan, the most superior dōjutsu in the Naruto series. Because his eyes were his, only Madara could use Rinnegan’s full power and all Six Paths’ techniques and seal the Ten-Tailed Beast inside of him. Let’s just say Naruto and the army were struggling a lot during the fights and even died at one point, if not for the help of others. Unfortunately, Naruto doesn’t have kekkei genkai, and his prowess came from hard work and the utilization of his talent that was always there. Also, do I have to mention Rinne Sharingan?
When judging Uchiha in these types of articles, we have to mention Sharingan, or any other dōjutsu of the shinobi, because, in most cases, those are the main power source. Unfortunately for Naruto, Madara takes the point from this category and finishes this fight victorious.
Naruto 3 : (4) Madara
Who wins – Naruto or Madara?
In conclusion, Naruto and Madara are the strongest shinobi Ninja World has ever seen; there is no doubt about that. Naruto’s journey of becoming a strong shinobi and the world’s savior is something no one has done before him. He brought Ninja World peace and ensured that the new generation of shinobi didn’t live through the same violence as his generation did. Moreover, Naruto befriended Kurama and combined their powers in ways no one did, and showed insane improvement throughout the series, defeating threats the Ninja World never saw before.
Including Madara, there is no mistake; everything is immortalized in anime and manga series. However, the reason why fans are still discussing Naruto vs. Madara, regardless of the canon, suggests that the series presented us with a few unclear things. Masashi Kishimoto himself admitted he made the Naruto series characters too strong, including Madara and Naruto – they were literal gods. Naruto did win in the series, but that doesn’t erase the fact that Madara had the upper hand over Naruto and Sasuke until Black Zetsu betrayed him for Kaguya. The Naruto series showed a lot of inconsistencies during its run, and if we take in everything from the anime and manga, Madara seems like an almost perfect creature. For that, in most fights, Edo-Tensei Madara beats Sage of Six Paths Mode Naruto.
