The Mangekyō Sharingan in Naruto is an advanced form of the Sharingan that only a very few Uchiha clan members have awakened. It is significantly stronger than a normal Sharingan and grants the user special abilities. However, its use damages eyesight and ultimately leads to total blindness. The Mangekyō Sharingan is usually acquired by killing someone close to the owner or witnessing the death of someone close to the user and looks different for each user, but they all have in common that the Tomoe merges into a new form. Like the normal Sharingan, it is always red and black.

As we have said, the Mangekyō Sharingan is inherent to the members of the Uchiha Clan, and only about a dozen of its members have managed to activate it. The activation of the Mangekyō Sharingan is a major event for every Uchiha, and that is why we decided to rank the five youngest Uchiha clan members who activated the Mangekyō Sharingan based on how old they were when they managed to activate it. Now, since the timeline of the Naruto series is not always completely clear, we won’t be listing the exact ages, as some of the names on this list are just rough estimates and not precise ages.

5. Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke has no trouble comprehending or using ninja techniques. He also possesses the Sharingan, a line of succession technique that grants him a range of advantages in combat because he is a member of his clan. He can summon the Susano’o, a large skeletal creature that transforms into a blazing warrior and defends its summoner, and the Tsukuyomi, a potent illusion jutsu. His sensei, Kakashi Hatake, teaches him Chidori, a technique that involves a string of chakra rays building up in the hand before he flees the village.

After Itachi dies, Sasuke creates the Mangekyō Sharingan, an upgraded version of the Sharingan that allows him to use higher-level techniques like the Amaterasu, which involves creating ferocious black flames that devour everything in their path. In Madara’s opinion, Sasuke’s Mangekyō Sharingan pattern possesses the Choku Tomoe, which provides him more ease in his combat moves. The Mangekyo Sharingan’s ocular abilities have been revealed to have adverse effects when utilized repeatedly and for an extended period of time. Yet, Sasuke has consistently pushed his power’s boundaries despite these drawbacks.

4. Izuna Uchiha

Even by the Uchiha Clan’s high standards for combat prowess, Izuna Uchiha was regarded as one of the most formidable warriors in the clan’s history. He practiced his craft every day side by side with his brother Madara. However, even for the Uchiha, they both possessed amazing chakra. Tobirama, who was regarded as the fastest shinobi of his time, was no match for him thanks to his skill. The first Uchiha to activate the Mangekyō Sharingan were Izuna and Madara. Three parallel bars appeared in his eyes, encompassing the pupil. Izuna’s newfound skills allowed him to take become the leader of the clan alongside Madara.

Izuna was, in the anime series, shown to be a great user of the Fire Release, being able to perform the Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu with the necessary power to counter Tobirama’s water dragon, which, at the time, was known to be one of the best users of the Water Element. From a young age, Izuna wielded a basic sword, hinting that he possessed some mastery and knowledge of Kenjutsu and was able to stand up to Tobirama Senju, another highly skilled user in this area.

3. Madara Uchiha

Madara is described by many as a confident and proud man. Various characters have referred to Madara as one of the most talented ninjas in history, being described as the most powerful member of the Uchiha Clan. He is born with a particularly powerful Chakra, which he claims is the reason for his “stubborn refusal to die.” Even the Nine Tails mentioned that Madara’s chakra is even more sinister than his.

The first Uchiha to use the Mangekyō Sharingan was Madara. Shortly after Madara awoke, his brother did likewise, and the latter exploited this immense new strength to seize control of the Uchiha Clan. He implanted his brother’s eyes into his body after becoming blind from constant Mangekyō Sharingan use. A new power known as Mangekyō Sharingan “Eternal,” is awakened by Madara. With this ability, Madara wouldn’t ever have to worry about losing his sight again, and he could also fully control the Nine-Tails. So far, he has been seen to be able to use the Susanoo, a specific shade of blue, and features two completely different faces linked at the spine, each of which displays two limbs, for a total of four. He also possesses the Choku Tomoe, which enhances the flexibility of his fighting techniques.

2. Itachi Uchiha

Itachi Uchiha was considered a genius in his village, even within the famous Uchiha clan, adept in combat. He could effortlessly learn a new jutsu from observation and quickly rose through the various ninja ranks. His prowess rivaled Shisui Uchiha, considered the strongest member of their clan at the time. He was particularly versatile: he excelled in taijutsu, ninjutsu, seals, and genjutsu and won praise from his allies and enemies. Even as a child, Itachi was quite smart, showing that he was quite mature for his age and able to deal with difficult situations better than an average child.

Itachi held the Mangekyō Sharingan, which allowed him to perform the ocular techniques created from it and greatly boosted his power, considerably surpassing any other Sharingan. He was able to employ Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu, using his left eye to manipulate space, time, and even the mass of objects while imprisoning his adversary’s mind in an illusionary world. Even though it was simply an illusion, Itachi could target his victim’s nervous system with this method and actually harm them physically. Amaterasu, a ninjutsu unique to the Mangekyō Sharingan, allowed him to conjure black flames that he could aim with his right eye. These flames could consume anything, including the fire itself, because they were fireproof, meaning they did not go out.

Shisui is known for being one of his clan’s most outstanding and talented members in battle. In addition to this, he was known for his great mastery of Genjutsu, surprising a squad of Kirigakure ninjas with his genjutsu, who, noticing his presence, instantly retreated. Another indication of his power is that Kabuto Yakushi wanted to revive him during the war and recognized the genjutsu that freed Itachi as the Kotoamatsukami (Shisui’s Mangekyō Sharingan Genjutsu). He was also supposedly a good user of Kenjutsu, mastering the use of his Tantō, and possessing good pain tolerance, as he didn’t even flinch when removing his remaining eye.

Shisui possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan. With his Mangekyō Sharingan, he could use a unique genjutsu of the highest level, allowing the user to control the target’s mind to the point where even the one being manipulated was unaware that they were being used. His ability was seemingly quite unique and incredibly powerful, which is why Tobi wanted it for himself, and he was furious when Danzō destroyed it before his death. Kabuto was also very happy when he discovered his remaining eye was on Itachi’s Crow.
