Unfortunately, It Looks Like Scarlet Witch Won’t Appear in ‘Agatha All Along’—Here’s Why
“Agatha All Along” is the upcoming MCU installment designed to spice up your Halloween season and immerse you in the world of witchcraft within the MCU. The series will follow Agatha Harkness as she escapes her imprisonment by the Scarlet Witch, though she returns without her powers.
To regain her abilities, Agatha will embark on the Witches’ Road and assemble a coven of various magic-users. Confirmed as a musical, the show will also feature numerous nods to the ‘WandaVision’ series.
We previously speculated that if Wanda were to reappear in the MCU, “Agatha All Along” would be a likely project for her return. This theory seemed more plausible when Joe Locke was cast as Billy Kaplan, aka Wiccan, Wanda’s son, and when recent updates about the MCU’s ‘Vision’ show hinted at a possible Scarlet Witch appearance.
However, with the show’s release date of September 18 approaching, this theory seems increasingly unlikely. The trailer for “Agatha All Along” included numerous MCU easter eggs and references to Scarlet Witch, but if Wanda were set to appear, it’s likely they would have revealed her by now.
Let’s be honest: “Agatha All Along” is aimed at a specific audience, and most MCU fans may not be particularly interested. If Scarlet Witch were part of the show, they would probably highlight her to attract viewers who are more interested in her than in Agatha.
It’s worth noting that the MCU has a history of misleading trailers and promotional materials, especially when they anticipate a project might not be a hit. For example, the ‘Echo’ marketing and trailer featured Daredevil, only for him to have no impact on the actual story and for him to appear in a single scene.
In “The Marvels” trailer, Thanos’ voice-over says, “My work is inevitable, there’s always going to be someone to finish it,” during a scene with Dar-Benn. However, Dar-Benn has no actual connection to Thanos or his storyline.
In “Thor: Love and Thunder,” the Guardians of the Galaxy were prominently featured in the movie’s promotion, but their actual role in the movie was much smaller. Similarly, the “Infinity War” trailer teased Hulk’s presence in the Wakanda battle, only for him not to appear as the Hulk at all. These are just a few examples where studios have used misleading marketing to boost interest in a project.
In the case of “Agatha All Along,” if the Scarlet Witch were to appear, even briefly, they likely would have revealed it by now.
