Yuta Okkotsu is the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and was set to be the original protagonist of the series until Gege Akutami replaced him with Itadori. But nevertheless, Yuta is going to return to the main story, and he has, in the meantime, become one of the series’ most popular characters. Yuta is incredibly strong, and his Copy technique is quite intriguing, so in this article, we are going to tell you whether he can use his technique to copy Satoru Gojo’s technique.
Yuta Okkotsu’s technique Copy allows him to copy and use basically any innate technique from everyone else. But, while this is a great and powerful technique, it is unknown how it actually works; it is somehow tied to Rika, but Yuta can use it even after Rika’s been exorcised. Due to his raw power, he is able to effectively use each of the techniques. As far as Gojo’s Limitless is concerned, he probably could copy it per se, but since Limitless requires the Six Eyes to be properly used, it is believed that he couldn’t use it as effectively as Gojo, since he cannot copy Six Eyes as well.
As you might have deduced for yourselves, Yuta Okkotsu will be the focus of this article as we expand on the answer we have given above. We shall tell you everything you need to know about his specific power, i.e., the Copy technique, as well as how it is related to Yuta Okkotsu’s story and his status in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, more specifically in terms of his ability to copy Gojo’s powers and abilities. In case you’re not up-to-date with everything that has been going on in this great series, we have to warn you that some spoilers might be present in this article.
Yuta could probably copy Gojo’s technique, but it wouldn’t be as effective
Yuta Okkotsu is a fairly interesting character, especially if you know that he was supposed to be the original protagonist of the series, but once Akutami revamped his original idea into Jujutsu Kaisen, replacing Yuta with Itadori, the former became best known as the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. But, Yuta will, of course, make a comeback in the main series as well, and will be pivotal in saving Itadori’s life during the time Gojo was sealed and also in helping find a way to unseal Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm.
Yuta’s original “secret weapon” was Rika, a curse that Geto (the real Geto, not Kenjaku) named “the Queen of Curses,” but as it turned out, she was ultimately released by Yuta who, nevertheless, did not lose his powers and abilities. He still remained as one of the series’ most powerful character due to his raw power, which was described as a power with which he could, in the future, potentially surpass even Satoru Gojo, which is a feat in itself.
Now, while his raw power is undoubtedly the principal source of his might, Yuta also has a very intriguing technique that allows him to use more techniques than he naturally could, and that is the Copy technique.
Yuta’s Copy technique allows him to copy any other innate technique while maintaining a connection with Rika. The exact mechanisms of this technique are not fully known, especially since we’ve seen that Yuta can use it even without Rika being physically present anymore, but we can assume that it has something to do with the nature of Rika’s cursed energy and the fact that Yuta is able to use this energy even with Rika gone now.
Usually, Yuta simply copies the technique somehow and is seemingly able to use it much later as well, but in one instance, he was able to use Uro’s technique only after Rika had consumed her arm; this wasn’t the procedure in the case of Toge’s inherited technique, though, as Rika never consumed any part of Toge. This is why we assume that it is a rather complex procedure that has a lot to do with the nature of Rika’s and Yuta’s cursed energies. So far, Yuta has copied the following techniques:
|Yuta managed to copy Toge’s technique quite efficiently but was initially unable to control its spread. He later became much more efficient with it.
|Yuta is able to summon a series of small Shikigami using his hair as an intermediary object. The Shikigami are basically small bats with a head that resembles Rika’s.
|After Rika consumed her arm, Yuta was able to use Uro’s unnamed ability to control and manipulate the sky.
|Thin Ice Breaker
|Takako Uro (derivation)
|This is actually a derivation of Uro’s original technique where Yuta attacks the sky directly, not the user, and breaks it like a thin layer of ice, attacking the opponent with that effect.
So, as you can see, the number of copied techniques isn’t all too big, but we are certain that Yuta is able to copy other techniques as well, which brings us to the main point of this article – could Yuta use his Copy technique to copy Gojo’s technique, as well as other powerful techniques, like Sukuna’s or Kenjaku’s?
Well, theoretically, yes, but let us first explain the nature of Gojo’s technique, the Limitless.
Gojo’s cursed technique (Jujutsu) is known as Limitless. It is an inherited technique among the members of the Gojo Clan. It has a series of forms, and based on these forms, it rises in level, allowing the precise manipulation of space at the atomic level, giving multiple results and subsequent techniques within the general capacity.
As a fundamental level of the technique, the manipulation of space, it has three standard forms and one “non-standard” that extends beyond the boundless. He is physically quite strong, which makes him stand out in close-quarters battles, although his preferred method of assault is usually from a distance.
An important thing to know about Gojo’s technique is that its full powers can only be unlocked with the Six Eyes, which means that Gojo is basically a unique combination of an exceptionally powerful technique and an exceptionally rare and powerful innate gift; in fact, he is the first such sorcerer in 400 years. So, what does this mean for Yuta?
Well, based on what we know now, we assume that Yuta could copy Gojo’s Limitless technique, as that would be within the scope of his abilities. As for using it, this is where things get tricky. Namely, the only way to fully use the technique is via the Six Eyes, a gift that Yuta cannot copy. This means that he would be able to copy and use the technique, but not in its full capacity, as the full capacity of the technique is related to the Six Eyes, which is something that Yuta cannot copy.
This is why there wouldn’t really be much sense in Yuta copying this technique, as he would be unable to harness its full potential, even with his raw power.
