The story of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series is slowly progressing, and the most recent episode showed us what the Shibuya Incident is really going to be like, as the sealing of Satoru Gojo is just one small detail. Takuma Ino, a character introduced as Nanami’s “protege,” so to say, finally got a chance to shine as he faced Ogami and her “grandson.” While he was very close to defeating them, he did not do it in time and he was soon faced with a familiar and villainous face – Toji Fushiguro – who beat him up. Did he kill him? Keep reading to find out!

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Takuma Ino is a Jujutsu sorcerer who was introduced as a sort of “protege” of Kento Nanami. The two of them seem to be close, and Ino values and respects Nanami very much.
  • During the Shibuya Incident, he accompanied Nanami and later joined Yuji and Megumi. He fought Ogami and her “grandson” and was very close to defeating them.
  • Ogami’s technique ultimately worked, and she managed to resurrect Toji Fushiguro, who beat Ino with ease and then threw him off a building. Yuji and Megumi saved him.

Did Toji kill Takuma Ino? Luckily, no, Ino is still alive in the series

Takuma Ino is a secondary character from the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is as secondary as they get, although Akutami did give him some space to shine (this was back in the day when the guy cared about the plot and… okay, he never really cared about the characters that much, but he cared for them more than he does now). He is a grade 2 jujutsu sorcerer who operates from Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College as his base. He was 20 years old in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which means that he is 21 years old now.

This probably makes him a former Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College student, which would explain his relationship with the school, as well as Kento Nanami, who was also a former student there. He is a very close associate of Nanami’s and has a very high opinion of his mentor. A flashback scene showed the two of them talking and Nanami praising his skills. At the same time, Ino clearly stated that he wanted to be promoted via Nanami’s recommendation, as he valued his opinion greatly.

During the Vs. Mahito Arc, which is when he debuted, was once again seen with Nanami, cleaning up the mess Mahito had created with his transfigured humans. When Mahito had to leave to help Yuji, Ino complained a bit but soon realized that it was the best thing to do. He seems to be a big fan of Nanami based on how much time he spends with him and is more of a fanboy than anything else, really.

But he is powerful; that cannot be denied. His level of cursed energy is extremely high, but his Innate Technique – called Auspicious Beasts Summon – makes him so powerful. To use it, he has to put on a mask on his head, turning him into a spiritual medium (similar to Ogami, which explains why she was so surprised when he activated his technique).

In light of that fact, he was able to summon the abilities of the four auspicious beasts, and they are as follows:

  1. Kaichi, which is the auspicious beast number one. Ino creates a horn with a spiral pattern and then fires it at the opponent. The horn is almost impossible to stop unless you’re extremely powerful.
  2. Reiki, which is the auspicious beast number two. Ino summons a barrier created out of water, allowing him to defend himself from various physical attacks as the water cushions the assault.
  3. Kirin, which is the auspicious beast number two. The series has not shown Kirin, so we know nothing about it or its abilities.
  4. Ryu, which is the auspicious beast number four. This final auspicious beast is the strongest one by far, and Ino himself said that no one up to that point had survived being attacked by Ryu. Sadly, we don’t have any additional information, as the attack was interrupted, and we never saw it being used.

So, with these powers, Ino arrived at the top of the tower, where he engaged Ogami and her “grandson,” who kept her safe while she was chanting her spell to revive Toji Fushiguro. The “grandson” was not capable enough to stop Ino but was strong enough to hold out while Ogami finished her chant. This is where Ino’s proper fight began, as he had to face Toji Fushiguro, whom Ogami revived under the name Toji Zenin.

Now, we all know Toji’s story, how powerful he was, and how dangerous he was as a villain. Since we at Fiction Horizon have covered this topic quite well via several articles, we won’t bother you with the details here. What is important here is that you know that Toji was killed by Satoru Gojo some years ago and that he was dead at the time of the Shibuya Incident; before being killed by Gojo, Toji was close to killing him.

Now, Ino was not a match for Toji; that was more than obvious. The first thing Toji did when he took over the “grandson’s” body was to stop Kaichi, which shocked Ino. The young sorcerer resorted to using Ryu, hoping that it would be enough, but it wasn’t. Toji simply appeared behind the boy, stopped his attack, and then grabbed him, slapping and punching him so hard that he was defeated in a moment’s time.

This episode did not reveal Ino’s fate, but the next one will. We will also do it in this article, so be ready for some spoilers from this point onwards. Namely, we know that anyone who faced Toji ended up dead; Toji was simply that strong, and no one save for Gojo and Geto survived an encounter with him (Geto because Toji spared him, Gojo because he is Gojo). This was a clear sign that Ino stood no chance against the powerful villain, and the fight proved it.

With blood being seen, it was obvious that Ino was defeated, and while most of you might think that in Toji’s case, such an outcome automatically means death, you’re actually wrong this time. Toji did defeat Ino, but he did not kill him then. Instead, he threw him off the tower, thinking that the fall would kill him, and he proceeded to kill Ogami for thinking she could control him.

Ino, on the other hand, was saved by Megumi and Yuji and was later taken by Megumi to be healed. He has not appeared since, but we do know that he survived this fight and is more or less fine now.
