The term “ship” in terms of anime is actually a shortened version of the word “relationship” and represents fan-based relationships between the characters in the series. So, if you think that two characters would be great as a couple, you’re “shipping” them together. As far as Jujutsu Kaisen ships are concerned, one of the often discussed characters in this category is Megumi Fushiguro, who is, incidentally, one of the most popular characters in the series as well. In this article, we have decided to explain whether Megumi will end up with anyone at the end of the manga or whether he will remain still single.

As of the time of writing, Megumi Fushiguro is still single in Jujutsu Kaisen (he is, actually, possessed by Sukuna and in much trouble, but that is not related to the topic). So far, he has not had a girlfriend in the series and it is unknown whether he is going to end up having one ultimately, but he has often been shipped with his close friend and classmate, Nobara Kugisaki, whose status is also unknown at the time.

The rest of this article will explore the potential relationships of Megumi Fushiguro, one of the most popular characters in the series. We will explore Megumi’s personality in more detail, as well as some of the most popular ships involving him and the characters seen in Jujutsu Kaisen. This article won’t contain too many spoilers, but still, be careful how you approach it if you don’t know the whole story.

Megumi’s past is full of trauma, but he doesn’t seem incapable of loving someone

Megumi is usually a rather calm, serious, and reserved young man. Nobara Kugisaki complains that Megumi never says anything about himself and that he should start telling them more about him. Despite not showing much interest in what his classmates usually do, he is always around them and usually goes with them to different places, and he doesn’t seem to reject the idea of going for a walk with them. Constantly, he is carried away by Nobara and Itadori’s ideas and jokes.

Megumi was strict, serious, and thoughtful even as a young child, so Satoru wondered if he was truly in the first grade when they first met. Megumi said that he did not care for his father and that he believed that Tsumiki’s mother had finished raising children when Satoru first described the problem with the Zen’in Clan. He could see why he had been given to the Zen’in Clan, but he would only consent to leave if Tsumiki would be content.

Since they first met, Megumi has always found Satoru’s attitude to be irritating. The prospect of being a sorcerer didn’t appeal to him, and he felt weary over time. He had entirely adopted an impersonal attitude when Megumi entered middle school. He didn’t consider himself to be a person who could help others.

Thus, he believed that becoming a jujutsu sorcerer would have no meaning. Megumi didn’t want to make friends but recognized that friendship was the foundation of interaction. Tsumiki told Megumi to quit picking fights, but he ignored her and continued.

Although he appears stoic and calculating, Megumi wants to help people he considers good or kind. He believes that the world is unfair and that a shaman is a tool to ensure that kind people have a chance to live. He claims that this is a selfish and irrational desire, and therefore he doesn’t see himself as a hero for doing this. Another side of his personality is that he is quite insensitive when he talks about the death of criminals and murderers since he believes that they should not be saved.

In his days as a high school student, Megumi’s personality was different from the present. He showed hatred for good-natured people because he believed that forgiving bad people was ridiculous, and at the same time, he hated bad people for not having an ounce of empathy toward those who were constantly abused. He was known to fight with the “bullies” in his school and his area as he thought it was his punishment. However, when a curse prostrated Tsumiki, he changes his personality and says that he wants to apologize to his sister, considering himself an idiot at that time.

Megumi’s potential love interests

In this section, we are going to discuss some of the more probable ships involving Megumi Fushiguro:

Nobara Kugisaki

Nobara and Megumi are very close friends and classmates. They have a very dynamic relationship, the two of them, and while they are fundamentally different (Nobara is, in that aspect, closer to Itadori), they also have a very solid foundation that is the basis of their friendship, as the story itself suggests. In that aspect, we can understand why fans ate shipping the two of them together, but as far as the canon story is concerned, there is nothing to suggest that Megumi and Nobara will end up being a couple at one point in the story.

Now, with this being a shonen work, Akutami might surprise us in the epilogue, but currently, we don’t know anything.

Megumi often gets on Nobara’s nerves because he is so introverted, while Nobara annoys Megumi equally often because of her oddball behavior and her constant fights with Itadori. Still, they both respect each other and understand how their traumatic pasts have shaped their current personalities.

They also care for each other, but it is only on a friendly level as of this moment. As we’ve said, we don’t know the direction in which this relationship will go, but we do know that their situation is, as of the time of writing, quite complex, as Nobara’s fate is unknown (she was seriously injured in the story and it is unknown whether she is going to survive – her chances are slim, as per the manga storyline), and Sukuna has possessed Megumi (and will have to face Satoru in that state, which leaves us with a lot of questions concerning Megumi’s fate post-battle, as we don’t really know whether Satoru will have to kill him), so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Sukuna

The only other ship we can actually think of in this context is the one between Sukuna and Megumi, but only because Sukuna has shown so much interest in Megumi over the course of the story. After seeing Megumi’s fighting style, Sukuna became obsessed in him. Fans have theorized as to why, but there hasn’t been a verified explanation for why Sukuna is so taken with Megumi.

His fascination with Megumi was also likely brought on by her possessing a powerful and uncommon talent known as the Ten Shadows Technique. Sure, while all signs point to the fact that Sukuna wants Megumi because he is powerful prey, some fans have argued that there could be something more here, although we cannot really agree.

First of all, it would be a very twisted and unhealthy ship, seeing how Megumi is human and Sukuna is a forever-year-old cursed spirit with four arms. On top of that, Sukuna is a villain, whereas Megumi is a good guy.

And if you add to that the fact that Sukuna is actually a narcissist incapable of feeling any proper emotions, you’ll soon realize why this ship is so cursed and why there really isn’t anything there, i.e., that Sukuna is obsessed with Megumi only because he has specific powers that Sukuna can utilize.
