The Shibuya Incident Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen brought back many characters in the series, and while some appeared only briefly, we were – in most cases – happy to see them again. Although the focus shifted from Geto a long time ago, Geto’s group (save for Miguel) has been reunited again in this arc, as they participated in the battles in one way or another. Larue is one of the characters we have seen in the arc, and since a lot of fans do not know about him, we have decided to introduce this interesting character to you in this article, where you will also find out what happened to him.
Larue played a major role in the past, while his role in the present is reduced to a cameo appearance
When Suguru Geto was still a student in 2006, we witnessed him going through a lot of existential crisis following the encounter with Riko Amanai and Toji Fushiguro, who killed the former in cold blood; following that, Riko’s body—at the time, she was just 14 years old—was brought to the Time Vessel Association, where Gojo was able to retrieve it.
Many cult members cheered Gojo on as he carried the body, sincere in their joy at Riko Amanai’s demise. This encounter altered both Geto and Gojo, but Geto’s hatred of people and their ways increased significantly. At this point, he transforms into the antagonist we see in Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
We know that his first action as a villain was the massacre committed in Nanako and Mimiko’s village, where he killed everyone except the two sisters, whom he took in and became a father figure to. We know that he later took over the Time Vessel Association and became its new leader, forming a cult of like-minded jujutsu sorcerers who wanted to see a world where jujutsu sorcerers would be the only group. This would, from Geto’s perspective, create a more peaceful world, as jujutsu sorcerers rarely caused the appearance of cursed spirits.
Of course, Geto’s new world involved the complete eradication of all humans, whom the group called “monkeys,” he soon gathered a small group of powerful and loyal sorcerers who supported his idea and joined his cause. Among them was Larue, a large, muscular man with longer blonde hair. As he later revealed, he was similar to Miguel in his motives for joining Geto. Namely, like Miguel, Larue wanted to see Geto achieve his goal. He wanted to, as he said, make Geto king, and what was about it.
He was loyal to Geto and participated in the fights in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which he managed to survive. What happened later? Well, we don’t know much about Larue’s story in the meantime, which is a consequence of Akutami’s relatively bad treatment of his characters in the series, as he often just brings them in and then doesn’t provide them with the proper care (Toge’s sporadic appearances are a great example of that).
We know that sometime before the Shibuya Incident, the remaining members of Geto’s original group gathered (save for Miguel) and discussed their future, i.e., whether they should join Kenjaku.
As the sisters clashed with Suda and Negi, Larue was the one who used his sonic attack to stop them, reminding them that they were a family and that Geto would not have liked to see them fight. He then explained again that his only goal was to see Geto become king, and since that is now impossible, he will remain unaligned, just like Miguel, and will simply observe things as they happen.
This happened before the Shibuya Incident, so we don’t know when and what Larue did in the meantime, but we do know that he met with Yuki Tsukumo at one point and that he became her ally. Yuki was also a maverick who sided with the sorcerers, so it can be assumed that Larue also realized the danger that Sukuna and Kenjaku posed, so he decided not to join them. And that is, more or less, all we have for you when Larue and his story are concerned.
