The MCU franchise continues to expand with over 30 projects either rumored or actively in development, including two flagship movies set to release in the coming years: ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Russo Brothers are reportedly negotiating to direct the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films, but with notable alterations in store.

The Multiverse Saga of the MCU was initially set to revolve around Kang the Conqueror, a time-traveling warlord positioned to succeed Thanos as the primary antagonist. However, due to Jonathan Majors’ legal issues and subsequent convictions, these plans appear to be abandoned.

Jonathan Majors’ career has faced significant setbacks since his arrest in March 2023 following allegations of assaulting a woman reported to be his girlfriend. He was let go from several projects, parted ways with his manager and PR team, and had commercials featuring him pulled.

Despite fan campaigns advocating for his reinstatement, none have yielded positive results so far.

Following the actor’s guilty verdict, who portrayed Kang the Conqueror/He Who Remains/Victor Timely in ‘Loki’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ the studio parted ways with him. Reports indicate that the upcoming film ‘Kang Dynasty’ will undergo a name change, a detail now confirmed by THR.

According to THR, the movie will be rebranded and shift focus to different characters. Speculation points to Doctor Doom and the Beyonder as potential new antagonists in the Multiverse Saga, although these remain unconfirmed officially.

Fans are enthusiastic about the Russo Brothers directing the upcoming movies. They previously directed four of Marvel’s highest-grossing films: ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018), and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019). Together, these movies earned $6.681 billion, with ‘Endgame’ standing as the second highest-grossing film globally, earning $2.79 billion.
