Welcome to the Recap and Ending Explained for Mayor of Kingstown, Season 2, Episode 5, titled “Kill Box.” The episode is now available on Paramount Plus and continues the adventures of Mike trying to save his town from the chaos after the events of the last couple of episodes. Bunny and the rest of the gang’s generals are all trapped inside the prison, and they have lost their patience when it comes to waiting for Mike to get them out. They seem to have already named leaders for their gangs inside the prison, but getting them out hasn’t come yet.

Also, Mike gets into more trouble when Milo makes his presence in town more evident, even to the police. Iris went back to Milo, leaving Mike in the dust, and a construction worker just found a box on the ground containing federal bonds that can be exchanged for a lot of money. However, these bonds are Milo’s, and they kill the worker who found them. Where are the bonds, though? Well, the worker’s wife took them to the police, so, at least for now, Milo is without his money, which is bad.

What Happens To Bonds Now That The Police Have Them?

The episode picks up from the chaos of the previous attack and sees Mike running around doing everything he can to put things in order. We see his office being invaded by countless citizens trying to get help. The city is in chaos, with the gangs running around doing what they want now that their leaders are not in the picture. Bunny’s cousin, Rhonda, comes to visit Mike, and he assures her that he is doing the best he can to take Bunny out of prison.

Mike will later visit Rhonda to keep her in check, he doesn’t need more trouble, but he is clearly interested in her as she is a gorgeous woman. Mike gives her his business card and leaves. Mike is then bombarded by terrible news. We see someone coming to the evidence room after the police station closes it, and we see them taking the bonds and leaving very quickly. Early in the episode, we see Mike and Kyle talking with the police and discussing what to do with the bonds.

There seems to be a difference of opinion between the brothers about what to do with Milo. Mike doesn’t want Milo to leave, he wants him arrested and punished for what he has done to the town and Iris most of all. Kyle, on the other hand, is of the opinion that once Milo gets his money, he will leave and won’t be their problem anymore. Could it be that Kyle has taken the bonds and given them to Milo so that he leaves town? At one point, Milo was about to punish Joseph, one of his minions, for having lost the bonds, but he seemed to have another ace up his sleeve.

We also get a couple more scenes with Kyle and his wife discussing what he will do about getting a new job. Kyle is still not working and doesn’t seem to want to return to the police. The hints are too big, but it all could be a red herring. If it is true, though, it would definitely put the brothers in bad blood.

Where Has Bunny Been Transferred?

In the previous episode, we saw how despair filled Bunny’s mind when he saw that the Tent Camp was being dismantled and that all prisoners would be transferred to different facilities. Here, the worst has happened, and Bunny is in prison with the rest of the generals. Kareem manages to have a meeting with all of them and feeds their fears even more, saying that Mike won’t be able to solve this problem. He also says they will all have to remain imprisoned for who knows how much time.

The other general doesn’t seem to have faith in Mike, and some of them have decided to take things into their own hands, which, of course, taking into account the type of people they are, is violence. Bunny is fearful, but he seems to be considered the boss of all black criminals inside the prison; this gives him some freedom but not too much. While in the yard, we see a prisoner falling down to the ground, spitting blood. No one knows what has happened to him, but he is taken to the infirmary.

Carney intercepts Kareem when he is trying to go home and informs him about the sick prisoner. Kareem doesn’t understand why Carney is talking to him about this, but it becomes clear that the prisoner is one of the three Kareem beaten down when he returns to work for the first time. It seems like the beating has broken some internal organs, and if the prisoner dies and there is an autopsy, it will show that the prisoner was subjected to a lot of trauma. Kareem could go to prison if the truth comes out. Carney says he got his back.

Mike tries to get in contact with Bunny, but Bunny has lost faith. He says that he will do things his own way now and that Mike can’t stop pretending to care about him. It is frustrating because we know Mike cares, but taking criminals out of prison is not as easy as these prisoners think it is. As the episode ends, we see one of the generals being torched to death in his prison cell. Who gave the order? Could it be Bunny? We have to wait and see.
