Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry based on the original work Star Trek: The Original Series that aired in the 1960s. So far, the franchise consists of the original series, numerous spin-off series, film series, video games, and various other forms of media. The story of Star Trek is set in the distant future and humanity has achieved interstellar travel. With the help of new technologies, interstellar voyagers are exploring new civilizations as well as trying to avoid conflict with other extraterrestrial species.
